"Paris and Nicole"

I can really understand why Paris and Nicole are having such a hard time in that farm town. I myself have relatives such as those people in another farm state. Socially, and mentally all their IQ factors gives them the intelligence factor of a box of Milkduds.

These people in Altus GA. are boring, and the only ambition they have is when the next harvest festival is. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them didn't get their fun by making illegal corn liquor.

I;m sorry, but the old show tune is wrong! Green Acres AIN'T the place to be. I wonder if there's a way to e-mail Paris and Nicole, encouraging them to hang in there. I would have left FAST after the first hour!

Well for starters it is in Altus ARKANSAS not GA and I am from Arkansas, live 40 minutes from where it was filmed and I assure you that we do not all have IQ's the equivalent to a box of Milk Duds!!
Every state has their stereotypes as well as countries. It does not bother me that folks think we are not up to snuff down here because I know different, as well as many other folks.
And about emailing Paris and Nicole telling them to hang in there? This was filmed in May and June 2003 so they are loooooongggg gone.

The Milkdud Theory has apparently migrated to the city.

Thank the Goddess they left! If I had to live in Hickville as they did I'd have killed myself long since. Why do you think country kids are abandoning the farm life? Because they know that to have a better life "green acres ain't the place to be." Farm livin ain't the life for me."

These people in Altus are the most simple-minded church mice I have ever seen. I think the "Beverly Hillbillies" had more intellect. And their kids are just damned jealous, and would sell their souls to have a life as rich and glamorous as Paris and Nicole.

But then I suppose they have more spacious trailer parks, to play in. *lmao*

Oh please! *rolling eyes* I would rather have no money and be in touch with the WORLD, rather than have magnatudes of money and have the common sense of a cows a$$.

They are funny to watch, but are as dumb as a doorknob.

Why is it that evevry former country bumpkin I know would rather live in the real world than back in hicksville? And as far as them being a cows ass? At least the cow got money and not just milk. *lol* You seem like a jealous"I'm stuck on the farm and can't get out" person

There isn't one person I know who left the cornfields, who went back, escept in a pine box. *lol* Just can't keep em down on the farm, eh? You're jealous. So, just sit there, drink your moonshine, and wait for the next harvest festival, or church revival.

There are lots of people who enjoy a simple lifestyle. There are also those who have no choice. It doesn't seem fair to classify all the people of small towns by the tiny window we've been looking through. The amusement of this show is to watch the reactions to others of an entirely different culture and lifestyle. For me it isn't about making fun of the small town residents, it's about laughing at the differences between them and the girls.

And by the way, I heard today that Paris is going back ( they didn't mention Nicole, those celeb news shows never do) to a simpler life. Seems Miss Hilton has been offered 3 mil to do a sequel.

Edit- oops almost forgot the mention that one of rules of these forums is to be polite to the other members. There is a link to the guidelines at the top of the forum page.

Well did I offend you and the grits and gravy fans? *lol* Only 3 mil for Paris? Tell you what I'd give the town money so every one of the farmer milkmaids could get an ambush makeover!
I know it must ne tough between milking cows, picking corn, plucking chickens, watching incestual family members on the Jerry Springer shows, to find time to look good.

And that woman who said Paris and Nicole look like street walkers, wishes she has half the looks Paris and Nicole have, and you know it.

And, you never answered me as to why so many former country folks, who moved to the city, found careers and became people, wish not to return to the farm. Please answer me that.

It's like sending the Amish boy to France for a year, wouldn't you think? *lol*

That's weird. See, I grew up in the country, moved to a large metropolitan area and moved back to the country as soon as I could manage it. I wanted to get away from all those pompous urban jackasses who think that just because they are "bright" enough to be surrounded by concrete, pollution and increased crime rates they were somehow better than other people.

And of course, the school district I have out in the country always produces much higher scores on standardized tests than the big city district we were in before.

I have goats and alpacas for neighbors now - they are a lot smarter than many of the people I encountered in the city.

As my great grandpappy Jeptha used to say - there are a lot of educated idiots in the city.

"RE: Paris and Nicole"
Posted by L82LIFE on 12-30-03 at 04:35 PM
Totally agree, Pooh. I've lived in the city my whole life, and Mr. L8 and I have been giving some serious thought to moving into a more rural area. His parents lived in CA most of their lives and when they retired, they moved to the country first chance they got. So not all country people that move out of the country stay out.

I don't think it's fair at all to paint all rural people with the same brush. At least they don't have to listen to sirens, see graffiti, and deal with "educated idiots" (stolen from grandpappy Jeptha) on a daily basis.

Personally, I'd rather be surrounded by simple, down-to-earth people any day over those that think their urban life makes them more important or smarter than others.

I agree and disagree. On the one hand, my idea of roughing it is the Holiday Inn, and I could not imagine making a living as a farmer, or in some other agrarian field. On the other, it's nice not to have to deal with the jerks in the city. I used to live in a community that had the worst of both worlds: the comfort of "modern living," complete with jerks and $chmucks for neighbors; but clear skies, mountains, and lush pastures right outside the neighborhood - complete with the stench of cow chips, the 20-mile drive to the store, and the hateful glares of the townsfolk who thought everyone not on a farm was there to ruin their lifestyles.

So I've come to the conclusion that you can find a$$holes everywhere, and you can find caring people everywhere, be it in the city or the country.

Wow, where do I start. I's hard to try to get a a##hole to get a clue. I've been to big cities and you guys have NOTHING on us!! Only HUGE egos. I'm not narrow-minded enough to include all city people.... but the writer of this post needs major help!! We are the hard working people that are feeding you!!! You were probably writing your post with your mouth full! We are actually NICE people that put work hard to make a living and couldn't care less about just waiting for the weekend to party!!
Incest has nothing to do with country life. (check with YOUR family... maybe one of them can clue you in.

And have you ever thought how many people have moved from the city to the rural areas and became "REAL" hard-working HAPPY people and absolutely would never go back to the cities to rape, murder, traffic, and most of all HATE!!.

Thank you for your very ignorant outlook, but I happen to be from the SF Bay Area (In case you haven't heard of it), not from a small town.....

So no....I'm not jealous! LOL FAR from it......

Granpa Jeptha?*lol* No Jethro's? No Jeremiah's or Jehosephat's? Of course you had standardized tests in school......in milking, steer wrestling and corn shucking. I bet the kiddies did well on those, especially moonshine 101! *lmao*

BTW,love2smile I never did ask where you grew up. And I didn't benture a guess. Actually, I'm quite surprised. I guess San Francisco was obviously too much for you. Too much lobster? Nothing like chitlins and cornbread to solve that problem. *lmao*

Yes, I'd live in the southern counrty as well, if it was not the fact that those folks with the bibles in one hand, and those white sheets on their heads wasn't so frightening. *rotf*

Being that I'm from "southern England" is enough for me. But see there I can say I'm a member of a "Clan", without spelling the word with a "K". *lol* But hey, just keep growing the corn, we'll keep buying it.

Hey, did you hear the one about the sodbuster who thought he was related to royalty? He ran home telling his wife that he'd spoken with a geologist.....and that there was "little earl" under his land! *Ha ha ha!

Gee, I'm sorry acknchip.....did I say I left???? LOL @ your ineptitude to grasp the difference between living on a farm and living in the city......

Gee....I guess "southern England" must be proud to know that they have a real scholar living amongst them......

I come from a long proud line of white trash - I can shuck corn and break beans and hull peas with the best of them. Never milked a cow, sorry about that. But I've had more than a taste of homemade moonshine in my life.(Strictly medicinal of course)

But I don't think coming from a humble background is something to be ashamed of. I do think being a misinformed, confrontational elitist that ridicules and stereotypes an entire culture they know nothing about with lame, pathetic and ineffective attempts at humor is rather shameful. Not to mention ignorant. But what do I know - I'm just a backward hick. Yeehaw.

"RE: Paris and Nicole"

Well, loves2smile I never guessed as to whether you left SF or not. I'm actually surprised you came from there in the first place. I"reckon" that accounts for you good typing skills.
Scholar? Well I just got my Masters' degree in fine art.Of course for folks in the country, when the cow delivers a good calf, the farm boys pat the owner on the back and say"That's fine...........Art. *lol* Of course the only "Masters" you have in farm land are dead. I guess they died quickly after slavery became illegal.*lmao*

Proud of shucking corn and drinking moonshine? My, my those are great accomplishments! Then again you forgot to tell me how many of your family I can expect to see on upcoming Jerry Springer episodes. I'll probabaly recognise them for their lack of frontal teeth? Ha ha ha ha.

Hey, I didn't say you were "white trash" either. I have plenty of mates (friends to you) who are ex-bumpkins, and the only way they say they'll return is in a pine box. *lmao* And they only have bachelors' degrees. *rotflmao*

Keep trying girlies! You have my bloody sympathy. *l*

How are you this morning Sugar Booger? I'm fixin to finish up my biscuits and gravy. I'll probably decapitate me a chicken later on so I can have some dumplins for supper.

we ain't in no shack Sugar - Cletus says the third times the charm. So for this wedding, he bought me an almost new trailer. There's a little bit of tornado damage, but Cletus says we can turn the hole into a carport. Nothin but the best for us!

But yeah - I could really use them blinds. The trailer is a double wide, and my Aunt Myrtle sewed us up some curtains out of a potato sack, but there's still not a whole lot of privacy what with Mama and Uncle Cotton livin in the spare bedroom/dinette table.

You're coming to the reception/barn raising right? We'll have cows for tipping and government cheese!

"RE: Paris and Nicole"
Posted by Esbea on 12-31-03 at 11:11 AM
Holy Cow! A DOUBLE WIDE! Cletus must be doing well at the gas station, is he on full-time now? He always was a handy-type, I bet the carport'll keep the weather off the Nova real good. Ya know, that washing machine he made out of the 55 gallon drum and the old butter churn is still goin strong. Who needs them fancy store bought things? I can wash clothes AND churn butter, take that Kenmore! (not that Im talkin down Sears, but they're no Wal-Mart ifyaknowwhatimean)
I saw Uncle Cotton at the cross-burnin the other night. They just arent as much fun anymore now that we've run all them fer-rin types outta town. It just kinda turned into a weiner roast (Ed got day-olds at the A&P, buns and all). Still, its fun to dress up every once in awhile for a night out.
We're gonna try to make the barn raisin. Saturday is bath night you know, whether we need it or not. Ive been trying to get in first, what with the other well goin dry ovewr the summer, we gotta share water again, and you know how nasty it gets after Cooter has his bath. The cheese IS temptin though!

I have lived in various parts of the UK, Ireland, and Amsterdam. Even the people in my Mams' pastoral Scotland live their lives more mentally awake than those bumpkinfools in Altus! *lmao*

It's pretty amazing what people feel at liberty to say about those they don't even know.

I didn't demean any other posters, or anyone in general; I simply tried to express a viewpoint. Saying "the lens through which I see the world," was intended to be descriptive and communicative, the basic functions of language. It's more a technical use of language to me than anything else. I was simply speaking my truth. Although I suppose just about anything can be construed as a platitude by someone who isn't connecting with it.

Cliched, empty, pretty expressions, however, tend to not create a fiercely sarcastic, angry response which seeks to shut that point of view down. No matter how uncomfortable my expression of my real opinion makes someone, I'm not going to let it be shut down. I have the right to express my opinion here, in whatever language works for me. Turns out I actually have the right to do so without being attacked.

"RE: Friendly reminder from the Sheriff"

Actually, you DO have the right to say what ever you want......the same as everyone else does, even IF that includes attacking you.
You presumably read the guidelines and agreed to them when you registered. The guidelines allows the moderators to lock a thread at their discretion, so, by joining, youve already "allowed" them to "shut it down".
Again...read the guidelines if you havent. Youll find a link to them at the top of the page. You do not "have the right to express my opinion here, in whatever language works for me". Nor does anyone else.

and really, you shouldnt be so sensitive, my guess would be that her gentle admonishment wasnt directed at you specifically.

You have the right to unmoderated speech, however in an unmoderated forum. Since this forum is moderated, you must obey their guidelines. And you did call me a few names, personally, and I none to you. I referred my names to a "group" of people in sarcasm, never to any of you in kind. None of those as far as a "group" are on this forum.

Now being this issue os concerning the programme, let's refocus on that, if we can bloody do that, without the coloured opinions?

I for one believe I can.

It seems as though nobody knows who is talking to whom. I was referring to a poster trying to "shut me down" by attacking me personally and the moderator's intervention which warned that poster about personal attacks. That poster did not like my use of the phrase" lens through which I see the world," which was what I was referring to when I I said that I can use any language I choose. I wasn't referring to breaking the guidelines of the board. This board couldn't exist without moderators or guidelines, and I'm quite glad those are here. I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding. I appreciate the warning given fromt he moderator right after an email personally attacked me rather than illustrating an ability to argue about my point. My message was intended for that poster, not a moderator.

"Just for clarification"
Posted by Bebo on 01-03-04 at 05:42 PM
Per the guidelines, any time you feel you're being personally attacked, then hit the Alert button and let the moderators know that you believe the issue should be addressed.

My friendly reminder was not prompted by any one particular post. I've been following this thread for quite a while, since the threads that stray off-topic can turn into problems. But since I had not received any alerts, I kept it open, since there are times that friendly banter can be misinterpreted by an outsider (namely, me) as a problem. But since I saw post after post continuing to veer, I thought it wouldn't hurt to remind everyone to play nice in the playground.

Now...how 'bout getting back to the show? I know that can be tough during reruns.

Hey Bebo? Have I told you lately how much I admire you for the good job you are doing? You are the Shizznats!

( By the way, I loved Bebo before she was the Sheriff, and kissing up to her is not really kissing up, it is just admiring the skills of another poster, who happens to be a Mod and very good at her job, and Hot. I should mention Hot.)

That said, I rolled my eyes at a certain response from a certain person. We are a community, luckily THIS community has moderaters that care about it, and are watching. The whole idea is that we interact about the shows in a friendly way.

I for one am thankful we got a Mod as kind and tough as Miss Bebo. And then there is always that handy Alert button if we need it, and the Guidelines, that everyone should read ( cuz they work, and they make us cooler than all those other sites that don't care about rules)

What was my point? Oh yes, that Pooh/Esbea banter earlier in this thread was priceless funny.

I found the trailer park banter rather bloody pathetic, howevevr on to the show I just viewed tonight. That father is a real melonhead. These ladies are adults, and he gives rules that only a Captain Bligh would appreciate. He treats them like they're 10 years olds needing his guidance. These ladies have travelled to places he can't bloody spell for one thing. Paris is a well known super model, been in about every fashion magazine. For all he knows, fashion is a new pair of hill billy bob jeans.

They need an escort for the Mall????? Who is he kidding?? They can't go out at night???? What is he thinking, if he's thinking at all, that is. The only serious thought he's ever had is what fertilisers to buy in the summer. There's not even any entertainment for the mental milkduds except a bowling centre, my my what a hub of socilisation, and I happen to enjoy bowling. *lol*

What's bleeding next?? Dress them in pinafores and regular church services? I can see the hillbillies, bibles and serpents now. *rotflmao*
Well as hilbilly dad said; "dat's jest da way ah do thangs."

A boob? How far removed from reality could you actually be? Excellent parenting skills and rational logic behind his methodology. You sound like some spoiled gen-xer who has been raised on too large a diet of I'm entitled to whatever I want , irregardless of whether I've worked for it or not! High self esteem without having actually done anything to deserve it is an extremely dilusional path in life.Ironbasher

This dad is a complete moron from what I've seen. He has some dillusional problem where he thinks what some random people in town say really matters. The girls may be about as intelligent as the pencil on my desk, but they are adults and he is treating them like little children and thinking he can get away with it. I spent a year in an even more hillbillified(is that a word?) area in Arkansas and I never met someone as ridiculus as this man. I'll say it again, who cares if (in ironbashers opinion) he is using 'excellent parenting skills and rational logic'. The girls are not his kids, they are his guests, and they are adults.

Oh, and ironbasher, you are the boob that seems to be removed from reality, thinking that high self esteem needs to be deserved or earned.

I agree that he is treating them like children and not guests..

However, I do think if he had stated Guidelines, like Curfew of midnight or something, it should be adhered to. Not just because he wants to treat them like children, but because it is his house, and their comming and going may be a disruption to the sleeping patterns of the entire family.

I think they are hilarious.. i love that they laughed when the "parents" were being all upset about them hanging out with local boys.. WHO CARES? they aren't making these kids do anything or break up with their girlfriends.

oh, and I live in the mid west small town and Not everyone is a Bumpkin.. but ALOT ARE! It sucks a lot. But here in cornfields is a little school called the University of Illinois. They helped invent Netscape and the internet amoungst other things of that nature. So, not all southerners or small towners are Idiots.. and not all big city people are idiots..

I'm not knuckling under anything. BTW, my father is American and was reared in the Mid-West. I was reared in the U.K. and the Netherlands. I never said this was an American v British issue did I? These people were obviously informed of the background of Paris and Nicole. So instead of being a bit negotiable, the father just lays down the law as some country fried sherriff. Is that fair? Ironbasher???? Sorry if I'm not keen on the term.

That family could nevevr survive outside that little hamlet of an area they live in. One month in the city, they'd all be dead.

You cannot enforce your culture on someone and not expect them to simply comply without complaint, especially since they would only be there such a short time. Nor did I expect the ladies to have no limits whatsoever. Had I been this mans' son, I'd have joined the Army jsut to get away and see the real world, get some breathing space, for jesus sake.

Just to lrt you know, I happen to enjoy the States very much. let's stay on course of the show, please????

Ironbasher, continuing the personal attacks will get you banned. Since every one of your posts has violated the community guidelines, I strongly advise you to read them before posting again.

And a reminder to anyone who feels like responding - don't.

We really do have guidelines here. Believe it or not, the Guidelines make things more fun. Really.

but am REALLY trying to heed Iceys warning about using "Boob spoilage" in a post...especially to you.

My kingdom for a milkdud!

Let's not be calling each other 'boobs' or 'spoiled' or any other names. Bashing the show and the people on it is not only allowed but encouraged. Bashing fellow posters is a violation of the guidelines.

Sherrif Bebo already done warned all y'all... ye best be takin' heed!

Thank you Bebo. I apologise once again if I've offended anyone. Now someone made reference to my spelling in these post. I use european spelling; ie; c-o-l-o-u-r, instead of color. Both are grammatically correct. And there are correctly two different dictionaries. One is the English Dictionary, one is the American Dictionary. Am I wrong if I use "centre" instead of "center"? Of course not!

Back to the programme. Yes the father should have used better judgement and been a bit more willing to discuss rules, than simply saying; "this is the way I do thing." How ridiculous and stupid is that? If I were his son, I would have left for the Armed Forces and requested a european assignment. *lol*

The father is indeed a bloody pillock of a simpleton! And his wife, the church mouse just capitulates to his will. They should change to name for country fathers, and have a telly programme named "Hicks who think they have Dicks." *lmao*

BTW, who saw Nicole Ritchie on the Wayne Brady programme last week? She's "bonny as a button" as My mother would say in Scotland.

I would like to take this chance to apologize to Acknchip specificaly! I reread my posts of the other day and I can't actually believe I wrote them. It was an example of drop in,drive by , and sniper posting. I really have no idea what put my knickers in such a twist, but I do sincerely apologize. Ironbasher

"Paris leg makeup?"

Did any of you notice paris putting makeup on her leg before they went to town to present their pies. I dont know about you but these two girls are WORSE than anyone in altus. Who puts makeup on their legs? Its not like she's not hot enough, she's the hottest thing to hit altus since uncle jimmy lit a gas-station on fire in 56. (i made that part up)

"RE: Paris leg makeup?"

Paris is a fashion model. In the fashion industry it is not abnormal to put special makeup on their legs. In fact there are special make ups for the legs, from the knees to the ankles. A lot of models use it.

I happen to know a couple of make up people who use it. It's to hide marks, or highlight the features of the legs. You can fins some in any good salon, or order it in some boutiques, or online. I mus warn you, though, it's a bit pricey!
Yes Paris and Nicole are HOTTIES!

What bothers me is some of the statements made by the town ladies, who abvious have never pickewd up and read a fashion magazine is that Paris and Nicole dress like streetwalkers. This is in obvious ignorance of fashion, since they themselves have little exposure to what's happening out in the real world of fashion. I'm not saying the women of Altus are ugly, however I'll wager a million dollars a make-over from a good make up person in a big city would work wonders. The clothes i've seen on them are too unflattering and make them look large.

In fact Reba Mcintyre admitted in a maga issue that she really knew nothing about real fashion, until she met make up artists in the city. LeAnn Rimes and the Dixie Chicks have all related the same. In fact Leann complained that some folks in country music tried to have her stay in a "little girl" look for too long.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this one acknchip. For people who have never been to CA, it is very liberal, free, and trendsetting (of course, along with our favorite New York!)place.

It is just chalked up to a different lifestyle and many of the people down south from smaller rual areas are way more conservitive. Usually fashion hits them about 1-3 years after the style comes out depending how fast it motors through the industry.

The folks on TLC's "What Not To Wear" skewered her fashion choices as well. one of the hosts made suggestions of how longer skirts would flatter her wonderful figure even more.

Personally, I think she is too skinny. But I have to admit, that I actually think she is nicer than what I originally thought before the show started!

Long skirts are fashion of the Fall and Winter, not the Spring and Summer. And the people on the TLC are certainly no fashion experts. I have friends who work in the industry. As for Mr. Blackwell, what person under 60 years of age listens to him?

Oh Jeezuz the Ledings got a Lorry with a Hemi engine)

Their style of clothing is more clubbing style, and they're bpoth georgous. They make me wish I was younger and a lotto winner! *lmao* Well it's up to 13M tonight. Who knows?

Thanks for agreeing with me on the last post, Ms L. How about a date then? *S* No, that's not a flame. If you lioved closer we could have a latte and argue some more. *S* I promise to buy you a double latte just to prove i'm not cheap. *lol*

Tonight is the last episode. *sobs* Now i'll have nothing to do but criticise those greedy celebrities on Celebrity Mole. The nerve of watching overpaid millionaires, who are out just to make more money.

I had more fun watching America's Top Model. *lmao*

Longer does not mean long. And last time I checked, skirts that actually covered one's ass were fashionable.

These girls simply do not dress appropriately or to showcase their best assets.

Paris has a great body - but a very long torso. Wearing low rider jeans with tops cropped as short as she does makes her clothes look tackier than they need to. She's got the body to wear low-rise pants - but if she paired them with a longer top to where only 1-2 inches of mid-riff showed, she'd look much better. She also look much better with a shorte hair styles The over processed, overly long style she has now also makes her look cheap. A short, multi-layered shag would help her angular features and be very age-appropriate. Her skirts simply are way too short. She's tall, and very leggy. Her hemlines would look so much better even 2 inches longer than what she is wearing now. She's young and beautiful - there is nothing wrong with dressing sexily or even provactively - there is plenty of time later on to be a soccer mom. But she doesn't dress appropriately for the occasion either. She's at a small town fair - low-rise jeans and a nice backless halter would be fine (provided it had some coverage in the front. She could even wear some nice wedge sandals with it if she just had to wear a heel. But the outfits she chose are cartoonish! She's dressed for attention- it's just bad attention.

Nicole is more like the rest of us - she has figure flaws. She could address them better too. She shouldn't wear low-rise jeans (I don't think 97% of women in America should wear them). she has great legs and a good rack too. She should wear rougged shirts and V-neck or johnny collar shirts to accentuate that and draw attention to her face which is lovely. She needs to abandon the sleeveless tops and open midriffs. Funky little wrap dresses are going to accentuate her curves and be very sexy on her. And she needs a better hair style too.

They are both sexy girls who could dress like sexy classy women without sacrificing style.

Longer skirts for them could still be above the knee - both of them would still have legs for days and the rest of us wouldn't have to worry about seeing their underwear.

jsut to clarify - longer can mean simply the absence of visible ass cheek. Is that really so much to ask?

Are you trying to ruin the fantasy? *lol* Can't a man have one look at her cute little bum? *lol* I guess you have a good point here. Her skirts could be a bit higher. Makes me glad my kilt is longer. *lmao*

BTW, Mr. Blackwell? he looks like the man who buried my uncle last year. *L* You didn't comment on the reunion programme last night I was hoping next season they would send Britney Spears and?????? Can't bloody think of a tag team partner, some role model that Justin could really look up to. *lol*

Britney Spears wouldn't work, she hasn't spent her entire life as a multi millionaire with no clue.
