"DWTS 11 Episode 15 ECST"

Posted by vince3 on 11-08-10 at 05:57 AM
Tonight, a new twist gets unleashed: The Instant Dance...

They will know what kind of dance they'll be doing... but not the song until it's almost time to do the dance...

Unfortunately for me, however, I won't be able to see it until Tuesday morning... Pre-empted from watching, due to the localized broadcast of the Steelers at the Bengals...

Help is needed...

Tonight our dancers face 2 dances:

a Classic Ballroom round and

"Instant Dance" round

Interesting costume styling: Cape/cloak on Brandi, funky jacket on Mark ...

"Kyle/Lacey"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 09:06 PM
Lots of yelling from Lacey in rehearsal. Kyle thinks he's on borrowed time, and I agree.

Dancing the Viennese Waltz to "Breathe".

Kyle had some good lines in there, very nicely done.

That was quite lovely, he looked great.

Judges:

Len: Gorgeous orchid
Bruno: Charmed by you, took criticism and got better
Carrie Ann: My crush on Kyle is back!

Score: 9~9~9

They drew "Good Golly, Miss Molly" for the instant round.

Kyle is still enjoyable to watch.

Kyle is definitely growing on me. It's hard not to see him as a little kid.

"Instant dance background"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 09:15 PM
This is most close to traditional ballroom competitions because the contenders don't know their music ahead of time, just their style of dance. On DWTS, the couples were given the style of dance and got the music 1/2 hour ago, before the show and had that 1/2 hour to practice to the music. Or something like that.

"Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 09:22 PM
After last week, she felt she had much more in her. Her knee started to give out. Doc says she has a repeated partial tearing of the tendon.

Joey Grey people JOEL GREY!!!! He says the show must go on.

Dancing Quick Step to "let's Face the Music, and Dance" how very fitting.

"RE: Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 11-08-10 at 09:23 PM
That was fun, but a bit too much Derek solo at the end for my taste.

"RE: Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 09:30 PM
I was distracted watching for the knee.

"RE: Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 09:29 PM
Bruno: Classic quick step, worthy of Fred Astaire. Saw a little misstep but overall good.

Carrie Ann: Lowered her expectations after the rehearsal package, that was fab. Saw the misstep, too.

Len: Song was perfect, performance was great.

Footage from dress rehearsal where her knee went out again.

Scores: 9~9~9

Song for instant round: "Waiting for a Girl Like you" which neither Derek nor Jennifer knows. <<giggle>> Jennifer says, "I'm sure I'll love it!"

"RE: Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by Loree on 11-08-10 at 09:51 PM
Oh the whining. Has any celeb on this show spent more time telling us about their aches and pains?

"RE: Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by Nume on 11-08-10 at 11:47 PM
You have to consider that they dont get to choose what footage DWTS chooses to show, and she really is having these injuries/difficulties, largely due to her age. Just because they choose to focus on that in all their packages doesnt mean she's whining nonstop.

"Kurt/Anna"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 09:35 PM
Rehearsal has him focusing on big, sweeping movements, that he likes cause he can do big.

Dancing a waltz to "Take it to the Limit"

"RE: Kurt/Anna"
Posted by Snidget on 11-08-10 at 09:37 PM
That was OK, but lacked some personality when I compare it with how I liked Kyle's dance tonight (even though a different kind of waltz).

Carrie: If there was a Ken doll for adults that danced ballroom it would be you (oh my). No you're not as good as the other but you do a good job.

Len: Nothing like seeing a big guy being graceful - you not as good as the others but you improve every week.

Bruno: We can see that you are really trying to be better.

Score: 8~8~8

Instant dance: "Hella Good" - by No Doubt. No clue.

OK, now I know it, I'm sure they won't. I'm starting to like this game.

"RE: Kurt/Anna"
Posted by Loree on 11-08-10 at 09:56 PM
I like both Anna and Kurt. But they are not the best dancers left.

Rehearsal is hove with the folks watching. Going to be scandalous and she's shy about it. Momma Sarah say," Dominate , take over" he he he

Dancing to "Loosen up My Buttons" Pussy Cat Dolls

"RE: Bristol/Mark"
Posted by Snidget on 11-08-10 at 09:51 PM
I swear Mark gets tinier every week and I find it so distracting.

One of her better dances, but could have had a bit more energy in some parts.

"RE: Bristol/Mark"
Posted by Karchita on 11-09-10 at 02:32 AM
I don't think it's Mark getting tinier; it's Brisket getting bigger. I don't know if she is pregnant or not, but it sure isn't normal to put on weight while doing DWTS.

"RE: Bristol/Mark"
Posted by samboohoo on 11-09-10 at 09:42 AM
I thought she looked like two different people in the two dances. She looked way bigger in the second.

"RE: Bristol/Mark"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 09:55 PM
Wow, that was interesting for Bristol. I thought she did better that I thought she would. Which, granted, isn't saying much.

Len: Lacked intensity, but better than past dances. For the next dance, give it some welly (?)

Bruno: Be a bad girl, Come back with some fire!

Carrie Ann: Better than she expected, something about between her legs?

Scores: 8~8~8

Instant dance: "Mas Que Nada" - Sergio Mendez. Mark can't even pronounce the song. This should be good.

"RE: Bristol/Mark"
Posted by Loree on 11-08-10 at 10:06 PM
She needs to go home. I don't want to keep seeing Sarah on the show.

"RE: Bristol/Mark"

Oh My God, that was so bad.

Going to find a stick to poke my eyes out.

And not that Mark was much better.

Nope. I did not.

That was probably the most unArgentinian Tango Argentine tango I have seen performed. *SHUDDER*

"Brandy/Maks"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 10:03 PM
Rehearsal: They have found the way to communicate, but Brandy doesn't think they are safe.

Dancing the waltz to "The Lucky Ones" - singer did a great job BTW

"RE: Brandy/Maks"
Posted by whimsey on 11-08-10 at 10:07 PM
Judges:

Bruno: Exquisite, a symphony

Carrie Anne: Beautiful to watch, but you have to watch your neck. You will make it to the finals.

Len: Overwhelmed, if you wanted to nitpick yes the neck was wrong but it was well performed.

Scores: Carrie Anne: 9 ~ Len: 10 ~ Bruno: 10

Dancing the Jive (thought it was quick step) to Good Golly, Miss Molly. Lacey is wearing a figure skating outfit.

Very energetic!

Len: Would have liked a little better finesse, but really enjoyable

Bruno: Top of the league for entertainment value

Scores: Carrie Anne: 10 ~ Bruno: 10 ~ Len: 9

Combined score: 56

"RE: Instant Kyle/Lacey"

That was a lot of fun, really didn't look like an insta dance, looked like they had a lot more time to put that together.

Dancing the Rumba to "Waiting for a Girl Like Your"

Can I just say, Jennifer looks fabulous.

Judges:

Bruno: Brought out the best - breathtaking - superb

Carrie Ann: Special, captures te moment of the mucis - reclaimed her power

Len: Lots of flowery affirmations that I didn't get.

Scores: 10~10~10 perfect score!

Combined score: 57

"RE: Instant Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 11-08-10 at 10:28 PM
Nicely done, I didn't love it quite as much as the judges and it felt a little more like it wasn't really done to go with the song in some places, but still a very nice job.

Liked Tom's comment that they won't even get their dressing rooms until just before the show starts next week this is going so well.

At least one of these couples has to fall apart from this thing, right? I wanna train wreck, dammit.

Dancing the Cha Cha Cha to "Hella Good"

Rough start, but he really got into after a bit.

Carrie Ann: Musicality has not been strong, but you nailed it. Had charisma and sex appeal (I agree)

Len: Coped extremely well, performed well

Bruno: Let it loose and had fun. Performance was good.

Scores: 8~8~8 Combined score: 48

Really good hip action and a nice looseness to his dancing which was fun to see.

However I got the feeling that Anna was leading rather than him.

"Instant Bristol/Mark"

Dancing the Samba to "Mas Que Nada" ( I bet you know it now)

Len: Coped well, would have like to have seen more hip action (not me)

Bruno: You did my favorite moves - and does them with crazy names.

Carrie Ann: Didn't think there was a connect with the music, didn't know what Bruno's names for dances were.

Scores: Carrie Ann: 7 ~ Bruno: 8 ~ Len: 8

Combined score: 47

"RE: Instant Bristol/Mark"

Not as smooth as the others, and I'm not sure I buy Mark was the one that got lost in the steps.

Although she did a lot better than I thought she would.

Way overscored. It looked like she went to the Michael Bolton School of not-dancing.

Holly Heck, Batman! Maks, honey, shake it and don't speak!

Anyway:

Dancing a Cha Cha Cha to "Teenage Dream"

Bruno: Fabulous performance ending a fabulous night!

Carrie Ann: Too long to begin choreograph (I disagree) Maks: Relax, don't worry about that ( Maks, meet Tony Devaloni season 2 do not mess with Carrie Ann)

Len: Brandy - well done. Tom: Len do you agree with Carrie Ann? Len: I agree with Carrie Ann.

Scores: Carrie Anne: 9 ~ Len: 9 ~ Bruno: 10

Combined score: 54 (?)
