"DWTS 11 Episode 9 ECST"

Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 07:01 PM
Tonight has tremendous potential for a major train wreck... It's TV Theme Song night, in which they will somehow, some way attempt to dance to a variety of TV shows' themes, which is made even worse by more than likely the Worst Band in All the Land attempting to do them...

I will be honestly surprised if Florence doesn't get The Brady Brunch theme....

What dance goes with the theme of "Gilligan's Island".

Or a Tango to the Addam's Family Theme.

In their infinite wisdom, my ABC affiliate is airing a debate between the candidates for PA Governor right at this second...

Which means I may miss some of the show...

zap2it claims your debate should be over at 8, but I can help out if they decide to pull an Idol and can't end on time for any reason.

They just signed off, so I should be good, it appears...

Although with the whole season recarp filler with each judge going on and on and on one couple at a time it may be a long time before you would have missed any of the action.

"Judge's Summary"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 08:09 PM
Of what they need to do well...

Audrina/Tony: (Len) Better hip action in Latin... also for Tony to crank up the pressure on choreography...

Kyle/Lacey: (Bruno) Needs to control himself better, needs to work on the frame in Ballroom... Needs to work on his footwork...

Brandy/Maksim: (Carrie Ann) Work on her spots. Needs to be less insecure.

"Judge's Summary"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 08:18 PM
Kurt/Anna: (Len) More musicality in his upper body, and disguise his hands... Also, work on his footwork.

Bristol/Mark: (Bruno) Try to be sexy in the Latin dances... Try to keep her face from appearing vacant during the dances... Let the Minx out!

Florence/Corky: (Len) Up the ante on her own level of skills: Footwork, Artistry, smoother transitions, and elegance...

Egad, any hope they'll ever drop from two hours--or are we going to be fillered to death for the rest of the season?

"Judge's Summary"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 08:27 PM
Are we there yet?

Rick/Cheryl: (Len) Work on upper body mobility, musicality, one to watch...

Jennifer/Derek: (Carrie Ann) Try not to let nerves get the best of her... and don't let her psych herself out... and try to stay injury-free... Also, the bar is very high, if she doesn't keep it up... downhill slide can occur...

"BIG Opening"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 08:28 PM
FINALLY!

I have a few ideas from the outfits, but it looks like Florence might be doing Doris Day, not Brady's... or maybe Leave It To Beaver?

Happy, jumpy, slick - very nice.

"RE: Brandy/Maksim"
Posted by Snidget on 10-18-10 at 08:37 PM
It was fast, it was kinda fun, but something in her body language and face that comes across as a bit checked out to me and that messes up any chemistry that might be there.

"RE: Brandy/Maksim"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 08:38 PM
Scores: 9-9-9 for a total of 27 and a very high bar to start with!

I loved it. I smiled during the entire dance.

"Florence/Corky"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 08:47 PM
They got it! She decided to call in Barry Williams, otherwise known as Greg Brady, to help her out in practice... Barry quips that Corky is younger than Peter nowadays!

Do the 'Castle'? Ai ya...

"Kurt/Anna"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 08:57 PM
Kurt knows what it's like to have to overcome adversity... he hopes it can translate to the dance floor... Anna, being from Russia, hasn't watched these classic TV shows... or knows who Walter Payton is...

Dancing the Quickstep to the theme from Bewitched

They start up in the Celebriquarium area, where the first nose twitch is...

"RE: Kurt/Anna"

He played his part well, but still a wee bit clumsy. But I hope it was supposed to be.

"RE: Kurt/Anna"
Posted by Snidget on 10-18-10 at 09:00 PM
Well other than I kept waiting for him to be replaced mid dance by another football playing Kurt...

It was nice, could have been a bit more polished, but a pretty good job.

"Just thought of something"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 09:00 PM
This might be the first time the house band has had to lengthen a song to make it fit the dance's time period... both of the more 'classic' songs seemed to have been extended, compared to the theme from Friends

They just said that both the Hoff will return tomorrow, and there will be talk from Bruno's Dance DVD...

"Audrina/Tony"

I thought this might happen to her, but I wasn't sure... since I never watched this show...

Tony gives her a tip to try to get past the awkwardness of the romanticality of the Rumba: Try eating raw garlic/onion...

He was wishing it was Baywatch... (That was reserved for The Hoff)

Lacey brought in Kym and Chelsie to assist in practice... Kyle's Angels...

Oy vey! What do you expect from the "Charlies Angels" theme?

"RE: Kyle/Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 09:24 PM
There might've been too much disco in that...

Kyle didn't know who the original Angels were... he thought about the movie Angels...

Scores: 8-5-7 for a total of 20

He gets confused from point to point... To try to help himself out, he heads to LA Laker training camp to have Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson try to explain Rick to Cheryl...

Bristol was so far behind and lost half the time.

Mark was happy because he got to wear his short pants and sparkly socks.

"RE: Bristol/Mark"

They started out in gorilla/monkey suits and midway stripped down to their normal outfits... Performance went up, but technique train wrecked...

Scores: 6-6-6 for a total of 18 and dead fricken' last right now...

"Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by vince3 on 10-18-10 at 09:54 PM
Good news is that this won't be a physically taxing dance, compared to the past two weeks... Bad news is, she's been so far away from Ballroom that she's not able to learn it too well... to start with. She had a minor nervous breakdown from Derek attempts to teach her further...

Not only is next week Rock and Roll Theme Week, but they also will have to learn a 2nd dance! (Question is, though, will the second dance be another full dance, Team Dance, Group Dance, or Dance-off?)

Scores: 8-8-9 for a total of 25 to get 2nd place on the Judges' Leaderboard.

The dance was nice, but her little temper tantrum in the preview was outrageous. Good thing she didn't get stuck with Maks as her trainer. What a wimp.

You're calling Jennifer a wimp? She wouldn't have reacted that way if Derek wasn't such an impatient little jerk. He's a jerk, always been a jerk since they got him, and he thinks everything oughta be easy as pie and that the celeb should get it right the 1st time and never have any problem remembering it or understanding it. Maybe he's not as bad of an a$$ as Max, but he's a conceited little weasel, a spotlight hog, and an excessively tightly strung little jerk. If I didn't love Jennifer so much I'd root for him to get 0's.

"RE: Jennifer/Derek"
Posted by udg on 10-20-10 at 10:49 PM
Her reaction was so over the top relative to his action that it made her look like the immature one. Her accusation that he was letting his TEMPER get the best of him? Totally delusional. He may have been slightly frustrated, but I didn't see a HINT of "temper" in him when she walked out.

Major DIVA moment.
