"Summaries?"

Posted by AyaK on 11-25-03 at 07:26 PM
OK, this looks like it should be a fun show to summarize. The first episode airs December 2, the second airs December 3, and then episodes will (supposedly) follow weekly. I have someone in mind to write a summary of one of the first episodes, if she's interested, since she and I seem to be trying to having a race to see how many different shows we can write about, and I'll probably write one as well to keep up with her (but not one of the first two). Other than those two episodes, the summaries are up for grabs ... kinda like Paris herself.

Please post in this thread if you're interested in summarizing an episode of The Simple Life.

We have two entries in the schedule for The Sinful Simple Life:

Ep. 1 (12/2): Bebo
Ep. 2 (12/3): AyaK
Ep. 3 (12/10): AyaK (?)
Ep. 4 (12/17?):
Ep. 5 (12/24?):

I don't actually know how many episodes there are, but I'm sure Fox will tell us as we get closer to air dates.

Feel free to join in!

I'd be willing to take a stab at the 12/10 or 12/17 episode. Just let me know.

Count me in if you like. I have one "official" under my belt, which is episode 8 of this seasons survivor that I did with Ra.

Sounds like fun!

Heya, Ayak!

I'll volunteer for one of the later summaries. Agree it'd be nice to bridge out from doing Survivors. (I do better once I've had time to get a read on the characters and scenery.)

I wonder if this Simple Life will be another Push Nevada, where I did my rookie summary to start doing Survivors.

PS. Did you check out my unofficial Thanksgiving summary take-off on Alice's Restaurant?

If you consider me as an alternate, I prooooomise not to leave my summary as late as the TI one I did.

Would like to write another. Not of TI.

I'll volunteer, if you need. Haven't summarized here but have asked the Hawkeye questions on the Survivor forum (telling you things you already know, I suspect).

In fact, I'll bet I can write one now:

In this epidsode, Nikki and Paris realize they can't use the farm genny to straighten their eyelashes, causing considerable consternation and bleepage. The Saltoftheearth Family laughs as our plucky heroines attempt to create additional electricity by rubbing two irritated chickens together, to no avail. Anxious to prove they can pull their own weight and pay for the bunkbed accommodations so generously provided by the Salts (although Mr. Salt points out that the gals can curl up in his bed if they get too cold in the middle of the night), the ditzy debutantes volunteer to sell a few pints of blood at the local YMCA. Unfortunately, drug testing is mandatory prior to this gesture - hilarity ensues!

Next week: The Salt Family is disturbed when the girls treat the entire herd of cows to udder augmentation surgery.

Now all anyone has to do is change (1) the farm-type thing the girls try and fail to do properly; and (2) the specific animals involved. The summaries write themselves!

Still looking forward to everyone else's contribution to what promises to be a true Sarcastathon. This may be like taking candy from a skinny overexposed debutante or something.

I hereby withdraw my request to summarize an episode of this show and hope that you will give Ginger my spot instead. Ginger has been cracking me up non-stop for a couple of months now and I would much rather read a summary written by her!

So take my name off the list, thanks AyaK!

This show is so efficient -- it self-parodies.

OK, I'm finally back from sunny Florida to snowy Massachusetts (boo!).

Summaries:

Ep. 1 (12/2): Bebo
Ep. 2 (12/3): AyaK
Ep. 3 (12/9): ginger
Ep. 4 (12/16): Ra_8secs
Ep. 5 (12/23): AMAI
Ep. 6 (12/30): Sunny_Bunny
Ep. 7 (1/6?): StarryLuna

Alternate: Coconut

Since I don't know for sure how many there are, this list will have to do for now.

Bebo I will be quite frank please hurry. I saw the show but I need another big laugh before episode two. I am guessing the fly swatter episode will be included.

Since summaries are done purely on a volunteer basis, we ask our summary writers to get them out within a 100-hour timeframe. Rest assured, mine will be completed within that window. Until then, you will just have to learn patience.

We really do have guidelines here. Believe it or not, the Guidelines make things more fun. Really.

Doing math: 100 hrs = 100 / 24 days. 100 / 24 = about 5 days

AyaK, I love this show! Please drop me in as an aternate if you need one. I'll tape them just in case.
Just let me know if you need a epsiode, I was a little late on the sign up, but am willing to write if anyone is unable.

Posted by Ra_8secs on 12-06-03 at 09:38 PM
Right now, I think my 4th ep summary will consist of.

Can you believe they shot that?

Who's got Day 10 in the pool for when Tinkerbell gets crushed by a cow?

Can you believe the production GUFU or artifice to accomplish that scene?

I want to see Paris and Nicole organize a square dance late night party.

"12/17 SPECIAL episode"
Posted by AyaK on 12-09-03 at 08:50 PM
Looks like Fox has decided to wrap this show up before New Years, and so they've scheduled a "special" episode for Wednesday, December 17. StarryLuna, since it looks like the last episode will now be the one on 12/30 -- IF there is a new episode on 12/30 (there's a "mini-marathon" of this show planned for that day) -- would you like to write the 12/17 summary?

That works for me, AyaK! It doesn't matter what epi I summarize, I can already tell they'll all be full of stupid behavior!

One of the alternates can have my spot, whenever it shows up. I'm supposed to be doing the next one, but who knows when that is.

Please take me out of the rotation to recap this show.

Thanks.

Ra-8secs, it looks like the extra episode is already accounted for and a summary writer lined up.

I'm still on for Dec. 23

AyaK - would you update the list to reflect the addition of StarryLuna on ep airing Dec 17, just to help avoid confusion. Also, wanted to get confirmation that the rest of the list is expected to be me (Dec 23) and then SunnyBunny for Dec 30.

I realize that the list might change, but we'd appreciate "official" confirmation. Thanks!

thanks to Angelfood for this lovely sigpic!

Ok, so I do still have Dec. 30th. I was going to beg out of this, but I have managed to get the chaos that is in my life right now down to a dull roar. I can, and will write the summery for that day.

Thank you Amai, for finding all this out for me

Bunny,
You're welcome.

If you still find yourself stuck, let me know. According to my tv guide, the episode due to run on Dec. 23 is a repeat - the visit to the dairy farm. Anyway, we'll see what happens, but it could turn out that "my" week won't be a real week.

haha - the Simple Life is not simple after all. However, if that turns out to be the case, I could write a piece of snarky commentary about the show, rather than a strict recap, touching on what drew me in the first place and why I'm pissed off today kind of thing.

thanks to Angelfood - I love my sigpic!

"Well..."
Posted by AyaK on 12-23-03 at 05:30 PM
We've now learned that The Simple Life won't air its final two episodes until January 13 and January 14. But I'm not sure how the schedule runs as we come up to those dates!

Tonight appears to be a repeat. Next week appears to be 4 repeats. It appears, though, that three new episodes will run on January 6, January 13 and January 14.

AMAI and Sunny_Bunny, let me know if you can change your dates to accomodate Fox.

AMAI, if you still want to write a snarky commentary about the show, feel free, and we'll run it as an editorial commentary on the news page.

AyaK, I'm happy to accommodate the schedule, so since I'm next up, that would put me in place to cover the Jan 6th ep.

Thanks for the okay to go ahead with something in the way of editorial commentary. I'd like to be able to rewatch the 4 repeats next week as well, or at least whatever comes on the Tuesday, if that would be all right, to refresh memory on the points that particularly irked me. Heh.

thanks to Angelfood for my pic!

Was checking out the FOX web page program listings, and looks like next (new) episode of The Simple Life is Jan. 7th (Wednesday!). So looks like the Jan. 6th date is changed.

Next episode is titled "Paris loses her purse"...or breaks a nail...or something like that
