Please keep all discussion of Jason's attempt to win the series title for Least Effective Presentation Of A Stick (currently held by Shane) --

-- actually, make that Most Lunatic Use Of A Piece Of Wood (also currently held by Shane) --

-- or maybe it should be... actually, Shane's got that one too...

...well, whatever it is, Jason's going to win it, and you're going to keep all sigpic-free discussion of it on this thread until 11 p.m. EDT, by which time we should hopefully have figured out who's going to break into Shane's house and steal the awards so we can present them to Jason. Thank you.

It could be worse. If it was BB, the awards would be made of fossilized slop.

I swear... Eliza looks exactly like an U.F.O. resident in Roswell when they're using the night cameras...

Erik, if you make a deal you shake on it. Or in your case you give Ozzy a reach-around.

Parvati is the one in the "hot pickle"! She's alligned to James, Ozzy, and Amanda, plus her CYA alliance of her, James, Natalie, and Alexis.......

Aw man, I missed her saying that. I thought her "other" alliance is her, Amanda, Natalie, and Alexis. Remember she said the rest are "dead to her."

With a color of lime green, the merged tribe's name is..... Dabu! Erik claimed it meant "good" in Micronesian, but he's full of it.

"Hey Dabo?"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 04-10-08 at 08:21 PM
They named the tribe after you! New tribe name is Dabu.

Erik totally made up the name, wanted the rest of the tribe to think he was oh so smaht and all that.

Meanwhile... bat is on the menu for the merge tribe's feast and James went to town, compared the taste to a "juicy rabbit"...

Amanda's scared of seeing Ozzy attracted to someone who might be a bit brighter than she is -- although maybe not as in control of her tenses.

Y'know, if I'd been Ozzy I might have spent my non-exile time making a better fake hii. The first one's gone, plant the second. He could have all these peeps chasing their tails.

That would require Ozzy to have more than a 1-track mind........ and I think his mind is now "win immunity, play HII if not immune, laugh at Jason when he plays fake."

Cirie, Amanda, or Parvati. Pick a winner.

And there goes Cirie's endless sense of entitlement/ownership again. 'How dare these people walk around my camp as if they'd just been merged into the tribe?'

This is, what, the fifth challenge they've repeated from the Palau season? Either the budget's been drastically slashed or they really don't have any imagination left...

I really want to call that one of the worst challenge poems ever. It would have sounded better if it was interrupted by some of the water-blowing noises the men were making at the end.

What's really painful to watch with Jason is the combination of fan knowledge and foolish confidence. He's planning on making just the right kind of idol play. He's not going to try pulling a Terry: he wants to create a power switch. He's willing to make the sacrifice of potential one-shot future safety to get something done now --

-- but he's putting all his faith in a stick.

And they call off the challenge before they get there. Hello, Amanu.

And Eliza saw every last bit of it coming. She figured out Ozzy's play on one glance. She's not stupid -- but with no numbers and not much chance of getting someone else to fall for the idol, she was doomed.

"Cockiness vs. cattiness."
Posted by Estee on 04-10-08 at 09:00 PM
Some of the personalities are starting to fall apart in a hurry -- and Jason, that includes you. But not was much as Ozzy, who just guaranteed his own blindside. Eliza did the best possible thing for the others in telling everyone Ozzy had the idol -- and Ozzy did the worst possible one in confirming it.

That wasn't the big idol blunder was it??

"RE: Survivor: Half-A.S.Sed Episode #9 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by PepeLePew13 on 04-10-08 at 09:05 PM
Can't be... Jaime did the same thing last season as Eliza just did, so it couldn't be considered a big blunder if Eliza merely did the same thing as Jaime did.

I think the big blunder is going to be something played over a couple of episodes -- i.e. part one is when Ozzy foolishly confirmed to everyone he has the idol and part two will be when the others hatch a plan to force Ozzy to use up the idol and/or convince Ozzy to leave his idol behind in camp when he's actually getting voted out. If anyone is ever so deserving of a blindside, it's Ozzy for his arrogance and spectacularly-bad gameplay.

Posted by Karchita on 04-11-08 at 00:24 AM
No! That can't be the big blunder.

That wasn't even as bad as Jaime because Eliza knew it was fake and only played it because she wanted to expose Ozzy for having the real one. And because she was out of other options.

Ozzy must make a bigger blunder with the idol later on.

Man oh man, the Jiffy hype. The biggest blunder Eliza made was being herself rather than pretending to be socially adept? Or was it going Jaime, playing an almost certainly useless piece of wood when she had nothing to lose anyway?

I was looking forward to something that was at least really really funny.

She shouldn't have just taken Jason's word about the idol and played it out as if she had immunity at her ready.

LAST EDITED ON 04-10-08 AT 09:20 PM (EST)

One of the best merge episodes ever.

Biggest Blunder and Stupidest Player = Jason If no one talked to Jason the whole day that means HE didn't talk to anyone himself yet he gave his "idol" to Eliza thus declaring war on Ozzy. Has there ever been a more stupid player than Jason?

ETA: And no mention of Eliza being first Juror so can we dream of a F2?

I imagine they will do like they did in China. Have players pick 2 teams of 4, have one (Denise in China) be excluded and, while 4 are enjoying the reward, you have an instant majority of discontent at camp. It didn't do much in China so they're trying it again.

Wow! What an episode! Probably one of the better ones yet. I am sad to see Eliza go. She hasnt done anything really wrong in my opinion, or done anything that the others havent done themselves. Not sure why she was getting ganged up on, maybe I missed something. She did good though, I would have played the idol too, just for mere luck and to expose Ozzy for the toad he is. (Sorry, I'm just not that into Ozzy anymore).

I think Parvati got a little too cocky, and overstepped her bounds a little with Amanda and others. I hope she gets it next just for shooting off her big mouth.

I'm not sure who I want to win. Who has been flying under the radar?

"RE: Survivor: Half-A.S.Sed Episode #9 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by nailbone on 04-11-08 at 06:03 AM
Depends on your definition of "under the radar". Lately, at least for the past couple of weeks, it seems to be Cirie who's been quiet and just letting things happen around her, while Pavarti, Erik, etc. have been trying to make alliances and wrangle vote. Cirie just says "as long as it's not me".

"RE: Survivor: Half-A.S.Sed Episode #9 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by CattyChat on 04-11-08 at 08:27 AM
Actually, Eliza knew she blew it in the beginning. Eliza targeted Parvati from the start and Parvati is part of the power alliance, so -- HUGE mistake. Eliza has had one foot in the grave since day one. If Jonathan wasn't taken out of the game, Eliza may have had a chance. Jonathan is a much better schmoozer than Eliza ever could dream of being. I like how Parvati didn't blow smoke up Eliza's bony tush and told her like it was.

Now to Parvati. I'm impressed with her this season. She is really working hard to cover her bases. I think Parvati's backup plan with Alexis and Natalie was a brilliant move on her part. If either Amanda or Ozzy were somehow taken out before a merge, Parvati would have been in jeopardy. Parvati knows her best asset is her social skills.

So what if she flirts with guys? Guys tend to eat that up. Smart thing to do. Parvati also seems to be a genuinely fun, positive and nice person. I prefer my girlfriends to be bubbly and fun, not miserable wet blankets (which is what Amanda seems to be.)

I am really disappointed in Amanda. She hasn't learned anything from China and doesn't appear to be doing any proactive strategizing. She latched onto Ozzy and is going to be carried to the end doing absolutely nothing except getting frisky with Ozzy.

After Amanda's comments, I sure hope Parvati dumps Amanda before the F3. Although, with Amanda's poor speaking skills and blah personality, she would be a great F3 goat AGAIN. The question will be, who will Ozzy vote for: his little sister Parvati or his hussy with no personality Amanda?

I missed the first half of Survivor, because my power was out and the DVR didn't record it. I have to catch it on Demand today to see the feast and merge.

I have to say I was VERY IMPRESSED with James on the IC. I never expected him to last so long in a water challenge. James is smart enough to know that after a merge, the big guys are in trouble. James, Jason & Ozzy battling it out.

I also quite enjoyed Jason beating out Ozzy. Jason & Ozzy have the two biggest egos. They are mirror copies of each other. I will enjoy them trying to take each other down. Which egomaniac will prevail??

Very interesting... I guess I missed the part at the beginning of the season with Eliza and Parvati, where Eliza was throing Parvati under the bus. Amanda is kinda blah huh? Thats actually a good way to describe her.

I agree with Nailbone, its been Cirie under the radar. Her attitude of "as long as its not me" has worked for her. She seems a bit nicer this season, or not too much on letting peoples ruffle her feathers. The dudes did good in the water challenge. It was fun watching Jason beat out Ozzy, but only because he has dominated so many other challenges in the past. I think he'll come back with the vengence though and win the rest of them. I think they'll throw the next challenge to make Ozzy give up his idol. Where will Amanda align then?

"RE: Survivor: Half-A.S.Sed Episode #9 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by NedraSue on 04-11-08 at 05:37 PM
Yes, I agree, this was a good episode. However, I am still trying to figure out the whole Amanda/Ozzy thing...how did they get from the merge beach with Alexis/Ozzy to 'still dating' now?

I would also feel stupid, if I were Jason, watching the show last night, he may have won a challenge, which granted, I couldn't win against ANY of them, except maybe Cirie...but I don't understand people who just throw themselves into the limelight of 'I am the greatest' catagory. It is so much better to win and be happy with your performance, than gloat and make enemies.

I think Jason will be out soon, because he seems to be all for me, none for you...type of a person. I could be wrong, it could just be his age. But I do think that he hasn't taken time to build an alliance, because he doesn't know better. He is very young. So, Ozzy will definately get rid of him asap.

I still think the under the radar person this year, is Natalie. I don't know that I have seen her in 3 confessionals all season. Just every now and then, they show her walking somewhere. So, where does her dud personality fit in amongst Amanda? I think that Amanda has played a much better game than her.

Just my thoughts...thanks for listening.
Nedra

Natalie has been virtually invisible. I think she is playing the role of "The Contestant Who Makes It Almost To The End But Who Gets No Airtime Because S/He Is Too Boring." Think Butch in Amazon, or Darrah. Alexis is clearly the heavier hitter in that twosome.

I've really enjoyed reading your 'thoughts'. So, I hope you'll continue posting them.

But, I'm not so sure that Natalie is the 'dud' that she appears to be.

Rather, I think that Natalie's is very probably the most disciplined and ambitous personality in Micronesia. One that, projected, would have virtually assured her rather early departure from the Game.

Instead, she chose (quite effectively, to date) to 'hide'. And, by doing that, of all of the remaining cast, she is the only one yet to be tagged by Editing with a 'mistake'.

And did you notice the look of surprise/disapproval on her face at Alexis' (who, just a breath earlier, Cirie had described as a player skilled at the physical, social and mental aspects of the Game) inadvertent announcement of the Episode's vote ... before it was cast?

So, is that still another alliance not as rock-solid as it once was?
