Silly question, but why doesn't BB let the houseguests sing in the house?

If they broadcast it, since they are making money off the broadcast, they may need to pay royalties to whomever wrote the song? And may have to get permission before they broadcast and there may not be time to get that before putting on the air each week.

I believe it's a copyright issue. Technically, CBS has to get permission and/or pay royalties to owners of songs BB hamsters sing. Some hamsters know this and use singing as a way of diverting microphone/camera attention away from themselves.
