We are in what amounts to the Quarter-Finals this week. The Stars will have to do two individual dances this week, and probably have to do a Solo of some kind during the Latin dance..........

Also, I CAN NOT do segcapping tonight. I am pre-empted by the Monday Night Football game of the Steelers-Broncos. It will finally air in Pittsburgh at 9:00am Tuesday morning........

I may be able to do it, but it would be nice to have some back up.

Two individual routines tonight.

Looks like a ballroom round first based on the outfits.

Latin round will have a decade for the them as well.

Len does intro on the ballroom round, Getting some commentary from the other judges. Going through all five finalists.

Donny, Vienese Waltz
Joanna, Quickstep
Kelly, Foxtrot
Mya, Quickstep
Aaron, Foxtrot

Dancing through the decades ... '60s, '70s, ''80s, '90s and the future.

Kelly is now the "singer" and no longer "reality TV star".

Quickstep.

Seem to be into Wowing the audience and not pleasing the judges.

Dmitry takes her to a ranch to unwind a bit.

That was very smooth. But, doesn't the Quickstep have that running leap thingie (qwerty?) that they do?

Thought the song was "String of Pearls" - Glenn Miller .Which brings me into the TMI area - I just learned the "other meaning" of string of pearls or pearl necklace. I am officially old.

I recently read about all her dancing accomplishments and she is even more of a ringer than I first thought. So now I am just disappointed they put her on the show at all. I just do not connect with her. She is basically a pro that leaves me cold.

" Aaron and Karina"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 09:19 PM
Aaron never wins anything.
Karina is running a fever, dancing with masks on.

Dancing the Foxtrot

Jason Mraz - Lucky

"RE: Aaron and Karina"
Posted by whimsey on 11-09-09 at 09:21 PM
Was that the '60s? This whole decades thing is lost on me. They work very, very hard to make Aaron likable. But the only person voters dislike more than Aaron is Karina. Is this VTW at work?

"RE: Aaron and Karina"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 09:24 PM
I think that is only for the Latin Round.

"RE: Aaron and Karina"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 09:23 PM
Not sure I liked her pants with this, took a bit away from the elegance for me.

Bruno, worked very hard, but tense.
Carrie Ann saw a foot come up off the floor.

Does Aaron have a really big vein on his forehead or is his hair doing something weird?

7~8~8 for a total of 23

"RE: Aaron and Karina"

That was a bit weird, that vein/lock of hair.

The band sucks. Just sayin'

"RE: Aaron and Karina"
Posted by Loree on 11-10-09 at 08:56 AM
That looked like one of the worst dances Aaron has done lately. He was flat footed and his one leg seemed out of control at times.

" Joanna and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 09:31 PM
Quickstep, analyzing Mya's tapes.

Amy Winehouse - Valerie

"RE: Joanna and Derek"
Posted by whimsey on 11-09-09 at 09:33 PM
Happy skippy running around. Dress seemed to disguise a number of oopsies. Joanna has gotten away from the "blow-up doll" but still lacks the grace needed.

"RE: Joanna and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 09:34 PM
Carrie Ann says some out of sync moments.
Len, a lot of running about, not the standard for the quarter finals.
Bruno, running from the scene of a crime.

8~7~8 for a total of 23

"RE: Joanna and Derek"
Posted by Loree on 11-10-09 at 08:59 AM
Derek obviously learned from Shannon's season to cover up the legs on his partner to disguise their ganglyness. Joanna looked like she kind of slipped a couple times. Derek seems to carry her around.

Back to Reality Star!

They are distracted by a walking dust bunny, as well as other things. Now she has two fuzzy dust bunnies.

Dancing the Foxtrot.

Pixie Lott - Mama Do

"RE: Kelly and Louis"

Len says other than the footwork it was really good.
Bruno light and ethereal.
Carrie Ann, the moment you breakthrough is your secret weapon.

8~8~9 for a total of 25

"RE: Kelly and Louis"

That was fun, and graceful and lovely. Damn that Louis Van Amstel Light! He is the perfect pro for Kelly.

" Donny and Kym"

Viennese Waltz.

Had to reset so he could enjoy it, brand new day kind thing.

Ray Charles (and others) - You Don't Know Me

Crowd likes it.

Bruno. Really play it, like watching a Lifetime Movie.
Carrie Ann. Mesmerizing.
Len. Improvement in your posture. He saw the fleckle step. A little artsy fartsy.

9~8~9 for a total of 26

Sounded like Michael Buble'. Donny tries soooo hard. It is as though he knows that folks have it in for him, and he is bound and determined to make us love him. Gotta give him that.

And Kym's been in the garden and the bees have gotten at her ooobies again.

They did seem awfully disproportionate in that outfit, didn't they. Maybe they got some of the increase you by two cup sizes thingies Victoria's Secret seems to think all women want for Christmas based on how many ads they are airing.

Aaron 90's Samba

The dance was great, too!

Audience going nuts.

Carrie Ann. I believe you want to win. Beyond belief
Len, on fire you hips were hypnotic. No gimmicks!!
Bruno. Unbelievable, I love bad girls.

Michael Buble and Susan Boyle tomorrow night

10~10~10 First 30 of the season 59 out of 60 total

flappy floppy yellow dress was not working for me.

Len, tough following a 30, sold it and worked your socks off.
Bruno. Energy made good.
Carrie Ann, Smoothed out the edges.

Execution of the theme was inspired, costuming was great. I am very impressed by Derek. That's right, I said it.

"RE: Joanna and Derek"

It was like Bowie dancing with Cyd Charisse(hair and legs) 200 years from now.

"RE: Joanna and Derek"
Posted by whimsey on 11-09-09 at 10:47 PM
Joanna ... Cyd Charrisse?

"RE: Joanna and Derek"
Posted by mtb002 on 11-09-09 at 10:54 PM
Hence the hair and legs in parentheses. The straight bob with black and dark lips reminded me of the gangster dance from "Singing in the Rain." Even though she doesn't use them as well as Cyd (really, who does?), Joanna also has those long legs.

"RE: Joanna and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 10:38 PM
Definitely getting lots of extra lighting effects.

Bruno. LA 2009 the replicants are taking over the dance floor. Derek you are a genius (where is that barfing smilie)
Carrie Ann, more love for Derek and Joanna didn't miss a step.
Len. Bruno took my word, genius. Content and theme great.

Design a dance, we find out the male pro (think they perform?)

9~10~10 29 total 52 for the night

"RE: Joanna and Derek"
Posted by Loree on 11-10-09 at 09:21 AM
I was shocked they had dared to criticize their golden boy Derek and Joanna after their first dance. So I knew they would be raving after this one to make up for it. And this was all before they had even danced. And I was right. But most of the gushing seemed to be about Derek's choreo rather than Joanna's dancing skills. If Joanna was not matched with Derek she would have been gone weeks ago.

"Kelly and Louis"

60's themed Jive

Used some of the 60's moves from her music video.

Start up on the stairs, she has a neon green wig.

River Deep Mountain High - Tina Turner.

"RE: Kelly and Louis"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 10:49 PM
Kelly ends it on Bruno's lap

Len. A revelation. Thought the work would get to you, you come in stronger and stronger.
Bruno. Groovy Baby. Come back to Daddy.
Carrie Ann. One of your best performances. A few got stuck in the turns. Doll lasted too long.

8~9~9 26 and a 51 for the whole night.

"RE: Kelly and Louis"
Posted by whimsey on 11-09-09 at 10:51 PM
Love, love, love the song.

Interesting interpretation, worked well with the theme. Would have preferred the black suit/skinny tie better. Might not have been so creepy considering Mad Men .

"RE: Kelly and Louis"

Not nitpicking because I really enjoyed the dance, but is the Jive really Latin?

"RE: Kelly and Louis"
Posted by Snidget on 11-09-09 at 11:06 PM
I've asked that, in competition it is
"Jive is one of the five International Latin dances."

"RE: Kelly and Louis"
Posted by mtb002 on 11-09-09 at 11:10 PM
Thank you, so it's nomenclature? Kelly's was just so different stylistically from the other 4, it was kind of like apples and oranges.

"RE: Kelly and Louis"
Posted by Loree on 11-10-09 at 09:24 AM
Did not like the thumb sucking and she clutched onto that doll much too long. We were getting dangerously close to flashbacks of Marie's rag doll dance.

I like Kelly. But she was really overscored on that dance.

Len. Crazy Bizzare and scare. Adam Ant and Adam Corolla, I liked it.
Bruno. More camp than a drag queens convention. Like Donny doing Marie doing Donny.

Carrie Ann. Great job bringing era back. Dropped off the edge into insane. Costume cut off some of your lines.
