"DWTS#9, Episode 14 ECST"

We're in for an interesting night tonight. Last week it was teased that we were going to have to deal with the Team Dances this week. However, the teams will be uneven with 7 couples left.

Turns out that Lacey's been hit with the flu bug, and Anna T will be with Mark tonight for both dances.......

Also, I'm issuing fair warning for next week: Steelers @ Broncos, Monday Night Football on November 9, which means that I'm pre-empted next Monday night and will need segcappers for that show............

Last week, Melissa's betwitching spell was broken, and our snowboarder wiped out.......

It's Paso vs. Tango in the team competition......

LIVE this is DWTS!

Blame the costume choices on the Stars this week.........

What did Kelly do to Louis? He has blue fringes on.

"Michael and Anna D"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:16 PM
He survived last week's Dance Off, by letting go.

Anna wants to harness Michael's showmanship into this week's Fox Trot...... including channeling Broadway......

Dancing the Fox Trot to In the Summertime?

Scores: 8~8~7 for a total of 23 (highest score of the season, to date)

google says "Sunny Afternoon"

Nice costume choice and a nice job with the dance.

Michael always looks like he is having such a good time. And he is improving too. I enjoyed that dance.

"Donny and Kym"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:23 PM
Donny had trouble keeping pace during last week's Jitterbug, but he's just received bad news: This week it's the Quickstep! The pace doesn't slow down! Kym had to resort to using the Posture Bar to try to correct the Osmond Slouch

Dancing the Quickstep to Sing Sing Sing Sing? *shrug* *chug*

So was this the design a costume with office equipment week? Because that looks like it was made with a paper shredder.

It looked ok, but even I saw some places where things didn't go quite right.

"RE: Donny and Kym"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:28 PM
Performance was good, but the technique/musicality was notsomuch.....

Singing tomorrow will be Rod Stewert and Colbie Caillat, plus Mark and Derek will sing as well (Ballas Hough)

Scores: 8~8~8 for a total of 24

And considering whenever I hear that slimy sleazebag's name (not Mark or Derek), I puke a little in my mouth, I will not be watching tomorrow's show.

Colbie?

I spent the dance trying to figure out what made Donny design that dress.

"Team composotion"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:31 PM
Aaron, Michael, Mya, and Mark are on one team.

Joanna, Kelly, and Donny are the other.

Unfortunately I couldn't pay attention to which team's which.....

"RE: Team composotion"
Posted by Snidget on 11-02-09 at 09:42 PM
The team of four is team Paso, the team of three is team Tango, I think.

"Mark and Anna T"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:35 PM
Mark was very happy after their high scoring Jitterbug.

He was in NYC to tape two episodes of Iron Chef America, and after taping, he met up with Lacey who was sick and Mark sent her home...... He then partnered up with Tony on Friday while still in New York. Once he got back to LA, though, Anna T stepped in and gave him a new dance routine...... Ai Ya!

Dancing the Samba to Switch? I have no clue......

I think he did an admirable job, considering...... but...

"RE: Mark and Anna T"
Posted by Snidget on 11-02-09 at 09:37 PM
Will Smith's Switch, although it wasn't that easy to tell that was what it was supposed to be.

All things considered I kinda liked that but based on the judges I have no taste.

"RE: Mark and Anna T"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:38 PM
Even I could see that had some sketchy spots......

Scores: 6~7~6 for a total of 19

"RE: Mark and Anna T"
Posted by Loree on 11-02-09 at 09:40 PM
I was happy to see Anna back. It might not have been a great dance. But I was entertained.

"RE: Mark and Anna T"
Posted by jbug on 11-03-09 at 11:49 AM
I thought it was great!
But why couldn't Anna have learned Lacey's correo instead of making Mark learn a new dance all over?

"RE: Mark and Anna T"
Posted by Loree on 11-03-09 at 12:21 PM
The way I heard it was Mark had trouble explaining to Anna how the routine with Lacey would go. Also Lacey is known to choreo as she goes and probably had not finished it yet when she got sick. Anna pretty much had to take control.

"RE: Mark and Anna T"
Posted by figmentsmom on 11-05-09 at 03:07 PM
Maybe he should have danced with Tony. At least he wouldn't have kept changing partners every couple of days. No one could be expected to do a "10" job with 3 partners in one week! The pros should have chosen 1 routine at the start of the week and then stuck with it. They can learn a new routine faster than the star who is learning both the dance and the routine. How unfair that he was voted off. He is a much better dancer than Aaron is. Not to mention that Aaron's jive was also his dance off dance so he learned it 2 weeks ago (according to the judges). That's definitely an unfair advantage.

"Mya and Dmitry"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:46 PM
Last week's Jitterbug bugged Len, and her scores took a plunge.....

This is her first elegant dance since Week 1 when Len gave her a 5........

OH CRAP! Dmitry brought in Chloris Leachman in to help her out?!?!?

"RE: Mya and Dmitry"
Posted by Snidget on 11-02-09 at 09:48 PM
Did seem pretty elegant, but she really does seem that she could be dancing by herself and it would seem the same. Just no chemistry at all from what I see.

LOL Carrie Ann says Len is smoking crack.

"RE: Mya and Dmitry"

Yeah, I got the impression she was dancing by herself, too.

"Aaron and Karina"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 09:58 PM
Last week he impressed the judges with a mature and elegant Waltz...... they were just happy to be declared safe for the first time in three weeks.......

The practice for the Jive was taking its toll on Aaron, so Karina took him to Elite Athletics to help improve his footwork.....

Len was tempted...... Tempted, mind you....... to dust off his 10 paddle (which hasn't been used yet this season) for that dance......

Scores: 9~10!~10! for a total 29!

"RE: Aaron and Karina"
Posted by figmentsmom on 11-05-09 at 02:58 PM
The judges have stated several times that the dancers have been practicing their dance off routines for 2 weeks. Why would you pick a new dance that you had never done before as your "last chance to save yourself" dance? So, if he had been practicing the jive for 2 weeks, it's no wonder he got a 29 on it. No one else picked a new dance for the dance off. He should have been voted off as his score for the jive routine would probably not have been a 29 if he had only rehearsed it for a few days instead of 2 weeks. If Mark had had 2 weeks, instead of 3 different partners in 1 week, he would have been much higher up on the leader board as he is the better dancer.

"RE: Aaron and Karina"
Posted by vince3 on 11-05-09 at 03:12 PM
That was not his Dance-Off dance. The Dance-Off dance Jive is set for 30 seconds.

The regular dance is 2 minutes, approximately, and they only have about 4-5 days to practice it. Also, they're to two different songs with different paces.

"RE: Aaron and Karina"
Posted by Loree on 11-02-09 at 10:05 PM
My dislike of Aaron clouds my judgement when he dances.

"Kelly and Louis"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 10:10 PM
Kelly took umbrage to last week's dance being called Beige......

This week's training took its toll on Kelly, and she's breaking down........

HOme just in time to see those pants! Louis is a really different man this season! I like him!

"RE: Kelly and Louis"
Posted by vince3 on 11-02-09 at 10:14 PM
Louie's pants started off with ruffles, which then were revealed to cover up regular black pants. Kelly had a regular skirt on, which was revealed to be a cover for a ruffle skirt.....

Carrie Ann started the craziness by standing up during her judgind, then Len stood up...... Bruno then got up on the table and danced! Louie retrieved his ruffle pants, which Bruno used as a makeshift boa.......

Scores: 8~8~8 for a total 24

"RE: Kelly and Louis"
Posted by Loree on 11-02-09 at 10:17 PM
I like Kelly and Louis. But Kelly always seems so slow and tentative when she dances. I guess the judges liked it more than I did.

Cue Dream Sequence, which ends with him kissing a mirror! LOL!

I dunno, I didn't get the chemistry and that dream sequence didn't help any. I really didn't think it was that good. Move slow, twitch, move slow drop.

Before I even read all your great comments, I just gotta say:
I'm tired of the judges punishing the "stars" for the correography when that is not under their control.
The pros make up that and teach the stars what to do.
I say the stars should be judged on how well they learn the correo and how well they execute the dance.

If they want to judge them on a bad correo, then they need to have someone else come up with the correography and each star dance the same correo.

~~rant over~~

Can you tell I'm upset with the judges comments to Mark?

"RE: DWTS#9, Episode 14 ECST"
Posted by Loree on 11-03-09 at 12:27 PM
The pros can't always be blamed for the choreo either. Mya twittered that she designed part of their dance. She often does that. So she can also be blamed when Len doesn't like the gimmicks.
