"What is this -- The Michael Cruise???"

Hey shakes, you ever let anyone else in front of the camera?

...damn, you probably even had the cameramen sleeping before you.

Way too much face time here... that's not looking good for long-term survival.

Damn -- another face shot of Mike -- and he's not even talking this time!

Ya, we believe he's won one of those switch card things... of course it's not completely clear to us HOW YOU USE THEM yet (ie. can he just pick ANYONE the show and sent them packing?)

I was thinking the opposite... he has a Rich-like thing going for him:

1) He is one of the few guys that I care about at this point... I know a lot about his life and about his concerns.

2) He's shared his strategy, and he's prepared to win.

3) He was editted as the other one that might be voted for, when they were leading up to the vote... yet in the actual conversation, he was nto ever mentioned by the women as a winner.... I think they're trying to edit him as the come-from-behind winner!!!! At first, he's the last one picked, he's considered for the vote first week... and in the end, he wins over all of the ladies, and wins it all. (Did anyone notice how he was the only guy hanging out with the large group of women at one point... are all of the other guys idiots???!?)

4) Anthony is the only other male shown in the previews that I also connected to in this show... I think that he's the next to be booted... we always see the first two bootees strongly featured in the preshow promos in these things!!!

You never know what might be up my sleeeve...

1) He is one of the few guys that I care about at this point... I know a lot about his life and about his concerns.

How about the only person I care about, guy or girl? Michael is the freaking doppleganger of the guy whose wedding in Chicago I just attended. I can't believe I actually like a character that Shakes plays. Stunning.

2) He's shared his strategy, and he's prepared to win.

Point, sleeeve. And it's very clear Michael is the only one who's remotely thinking of playing the game.

3) He was editted as the other one that might be voted for, when they were leading up to the vote... yet in the actual conversation, he was nto ever mentioned by the women as a winner.... I totally noticed that. And I'd just like to say that it illustrates the theory that I sorta jokingly posted elsewhere: Michael's strategy is to be the safe guy. Which fits in with the clip of him crying with a few women in the commercials (that is him, isn't it?). He's gonna be around a while, methinks. However... the editing on this show is terrible. They left absolutely zero suspense in the vote. Wtf is up with that?

4) Anthony is the only other male shown in the previews that I also connected to in this show... I think that he's the next to be booted... we always see the first two bootees strongly featured in the preshow promos in these things!!!

Nah. Adrian's a goner. Only reason he's still around is because Bob was AWOL.

Alas, ep1 is probably the last I'll see of the show. It comes on at precisely the moment when I get my first downtime all to myself all day. And, except for Michael continually making me laugh at what a lovable goofball he is (who'da thunk it?), there wasn't anything else to bring me back. I am gonna call Michael's doppleganger and tell him he's gotta tune in.

The eyes are gone, the logo's back. Looks like the time where we'll be expected to use less resource-intensive graphics are just around the corner. Whee!

Ah yes, the alphab -- no, that was another goofball -- I mean the "stay up late" strategy. A classic. What's Michael bucking for -- a Wendy's Late Night Drive-up Window commercial???

Scary thing is, I think Anthony thinks he is playing the game.

>it all. (Did anyone
>notice how he was the
>only guy hanging out with
>the large group of women
>at one point... are all

Ya, Mike's playing the classic (and probably familiar) non-threatening guy friend role. You know the role... it's the "my parent's would love you but..." role. In fact, didn't Lisa all but say that at one point?

This I didn't see. I will say that I'm now thinking he's on at least next Tuesday's episode (which in a NORMAL show would be a worthless claim, but it this show means he lasts appears in three more episodes)

>gonna be around a while,
>methinks. However... the editing on
>this show is terrible. They
>left absolutely zero suspense in

The editing was horrid. And the re-dubbed voiceover of the host talking to Gina/Bob (with his back to the camera -- gee, not too obvious) was the worst. A year for this?

>Nah. Adrian's a goner. Only reason
>he's still around is because
>Bob was AWOL.

Adrian has 3 days to turn it around -- unless he scored MAJOR points with his Ep 2 roommate, he's gone.

Which bring me to another point -- who in the girls do you think is really driving the votes? ...some of them didn't even appear to speak at the vote (Melissa, Jeanette, Lisa?) Is it the editing, or is Toni really running this ship?

In my understanding, these producers always frame their shows through one participant's perspective - like Julie on RW New Orleans. She was the window that we watched the action through. It was her experiences that framed the narrative.

It looks like Shakes is shaping up to be that person for Love Cruise. It's his POV that we are seeing - and they are making him appear so likable!

Who are they setting up to be the most compelling, watchable "characters": insecure, love-starved Lisa; lovable schlub Michael; pompous, conniving, pseudo intellectual Anthony; and outwardly confident, inwardly insecure Toni. They have to last far into the game.

What opinions have we formed about ANY of the other contestants. Adrian and Tomiko have emerged a little bit and it seems like Jeannette takes center stage next episode. They look like possible bootees to me.

Tomiko is beautiful and I may have to marry Darin. That is all.

Okay... in each of the two episodes, so far, they've had one of the guys practically narrate the whole thing.

Now, I'm not sure if it's just because Anthony and Michael are the only two who can speak in complete sentences, or if it's because they want the audience to get to know them, but these appear to be the ones that Fox wants us to watch.

Tonight, I had several friends over, who have no clue that I "know" one of the contestants from Love Cruise... we watched both episodes, and their comment: "Michael's gonna win the whole thing."

We discussed it, and here was our reasoning:

1) Michael was the only one with a strategy from the start.

2) Editors have made an effort to feature Mike in every episode

3) In the jury conversation, tonite, the women were discussing letting Adrian decide who to boot, and Lisa's comment was "yeah, but they could vote out Mike" (at which point all of the girls looked dejected)... she then listed a couple of others, for the few girls that don't have shakes-fever.

4) Ever notice when all the guys are hanging out, Mike's not around... who do you think he's hanging out with??? (and it's the ladies that vote!)

5) Mike appears to have the respect of the men, too (he definately led the jury discussion in Ep2, and he was elected foreman)... thus, he's unlikely to be voted out by the men.

6) Mike was the last one picked for a date at the start, but the editors chose to edit him as a positive, optimist, rather than a rejected loser... I smell a come-from-behind victory.

Finally, on a personal note... how many sick, twisted jokes do you think the editors are cutting out, so that America will still like shakes when he wins???

sleeeve, I agree with your take on it.
Michael was more like a sleeper in this episode, a strong member of the group but totally staying out of the controversies that developed. The narration last time had no bearing on him being at risk this time, so it must have been for the long haul.

Anthony was in some peril tonight, but maybe he'll be like Nicole of BB2 (yes, that's how unfamous I consider her by next week, I will mention what show she was on so people know what I mean) and escape early danger to become very solid.

On the other hand, Anthony didn't show a lot of sense about backing away when Laura told him he was pushing her buttons. I get the feeling Mike has his radar up for smoothing ruffled feathers. Also, he saved himself from ridicule by not dancing when he knew he would suck on it and saying suavely... I have other skills. Great line.

The cruise must be where he developed the diplomatic skills he's known for here at SB. Either that or he's still blowing off steam here after going through and winning that show--must have killed him not letting these people know how lame he thought they were...

I'm wondering if he got through it by lying awake in his bunk and making plans to write summaries on some still uncharted internet site, thinking "I can't say it now, but just wait people, your day will come!"

<<Hey shakes, you ever let anyone else in front of the camera?

At least in this reality show, we really know who are the stars and the extras!

<<Way too much face time here... that's not looking good for long-term survival>>

I was thinking the same thing....that's not good to have a ship full of extras. Ugh!
