"Does this show really make any sense?"

I see the previews and I think, that looks funny, I will watch that. But, then I think about the premise for a minute, and I have to come to the conclusion that this show doesn't make any sense. Am I supposed to believe that the family doesn't know they are being filmed? Or that the family knows they are being filmed, but doesn't understand why? Am I to believe that the daughter wouldn't whisper in the parents ear that this is all staged and that she will win a million dollars if they all play along? You can tell from the previews that they make it all the way to the wedding ceremony. The only way this show makes sense is if the family is in on the joke, and the family double cross the daughter into going through with the ceremony. The double cross would make an entertaining 1-2 hour show, but not a series.

It makes no sense at all.

That's why I have to watch.

Which one is The Mole?

These reality show contestants need a reality check!

You've missing a big part of the back story:

http://www.realitytvworld.com/index/articles/story.php?s=2121

The contestant, Randi, a 23-year-old first grade teacher from Scottsdale, Arizona who believes she is participating in a reality show in which she and her fake fellow contestant "fiancé" must convince their families that they became engaged on another fake as-of-yet unbroadcast reality show. If they can convince everyone of the legitimacy of their engagement and make it through the engagement party, the wedding planner visits, the best friends and family introductions, the bridal shower, the rehearsal dinner and actually the walk down the aisle without anyone discovering the truth, she wins $1,000,000.

The family KNOWS there are cameras around them. They know they are there to film the wedding plans. Their reason for believing all this is true is because the daughter supposedly was off on SOME OTHER as of yet unbroadcast show where she initially met the guy (which is a perfectly reasonable cover story where new, unheard of reality dating shows like Joe Millionaire, For Love Or Money, Average Joe, Boy Meets Boy, Mr. Personality, etc. are constantly being filmed and don't air -- or even become publicized -- until months after filming completes.)

Thanks for the link. The link does indeed present a plausible story line for the cameras. But, it doens't explain why the contestant Randi doesn't just whisper to her parents that she is competing for a million dollars, blah blah blah, just play along. Maybe the producers anticipate this type of deception and work it into the storyline. I'll watch the first episode, but if there are any loose threads I'm not going to watch the entire show.

She's 23?? From the previews I really thought she was about 40. Looks like maybe she missed the memo about using sunscreen.

The way shows are now, making sense is not a requirement. I will watch the first episode of this show and see how it goes.

On a side note, is the fiance in the Hungryman commercial where the guy gets blown into the lockers by the hairdryer?

No, it doesn't make sense but who said it had to make sense?
I think it's a hoot, I'll watch again next week.

I just heard on Access Hollywood that Randi is a Catholic School teacher and she is in hot water now about appearing on the show. She is suppose to be this great role model for young children. Her school was not impressed.

Also the ratings were 21 million + for last night.

Wow! I guess when she is fired she can move to L.A. and look for that spokesmodel job that every other Reality TV participant is looking for.

Quite sad really. Be careful what you wish for!

Is this girl dumb enough to really believe that this guy is NOT an actor? I mean, she already knows that the producers are willing to decieve her (keeping her in a hotel room for weeks, the whole mock-up guy selection thing, etc)... I'd be really surprised if she doesn't realize he's an actor put there to mess with her... or maybe not, since she seems like a complete moron.

And what kind of DAW would go through this? She went on a reality show with 0% clue of what she was getting into... not too bright.

My guess is that they told her she will participate in a game show and she has a chance to win a lot of money. She probably saw other reality shows where a lot of cash was given away: Joe Millionaire, For Love or Money, etc...

For whatever reason, I truly believe that Randi's family truly believes what she is saying to them. They look mad and surprised, expecially the brothers and the mother. Anyway, I laugh a lot about this show. It is funny to me just to see the way Randi looks .Now, I know someparts of it is staged but all in all I do not believe that Randi's folks truly know what is going on.
