"Bucky"

I know that Bucky will not win American Idol (that title belongs to Chris), but I really like him. Unlike dimpsy Kellie and egomaniac Kevin, he really seems like a nice guy. Kellie is playing the part (badly) of a nice southern girl. Bucky possess all the quality of a nice southern guy. He is polite and doesn't try to play stupid.
Kevin is getting the voteforthe worst votes. It's too bad that someone who is decent can't get enough votes to stick around longer than Chicken Little

I agree. Kelly seems to be "acting" the part. From all the things I've read on votefortheworst.com, she's playing a lot of people. I don't like Paris either. When she started singing to Ryan, she lost what little I still liked about her.
Bucky seems like a down to earth guy as does Chris, Elliott and Taylor.
I would like to see Bucky stick around longer than Kevin or Ace.

Kelly is playing "the part" of what, exactly? Can you explain your comment?

According to one website, Kellie is no where near the little naive, sweet person she pretends to be. Her actions do not appear to be geniune. She seems to be playing the part of a small town girl from the south who got her first big trip to the city. Carrie Underwood had never rode a plane before and I doubt she had even been to LA, but she didn't act like a Ellie Mae goes to the city.

As posted on other topics about her, I feel that she is playing up to the camera. She knows she's a pretty girl, but that her voice really doesn't cut it so she has to come up with something. Like others have said, she wants your vote, and since her voice won't get it, maybe her navie little southern girl act will.

Bucky on the other hand doesn't seem to playing the "small southern town boy gone to the city" routine. He's polite and while he did make one comment about not understanding anything on the menu, he hasn't brought it up again. His personality seems genuine to me.

I totally agree with all who are saying positive things
about Bucky. I really hope he places very high up.
Simon Cowell was on Larry King live last night (Fri.Mar.17)and he said he thinks the title of AI will go to one of three people get this Taylor, Chris (no surprise there right?) but the third was Kellie(hahaha).

"RE: Bucky"
Posted by kopan on 03-18-06 at 04:57 PM
That's no surprise unfortunately. Simon and I guess a lot of the voting public have fallen for her. That's a shame. I like both Chris & Taylor, but I sure would hate to see Kellie in the final three. I like Katherine and Lisa. Paris gets on my nerves. Even though we are both from the same state, I just don't see myself voting for her.
Let's hope that enough people vote for Bucky to keep him around awhile. I watched one of the video's on AI website and I like him even more. Just a real nice guy. And no where near full of himself as Kevin.

I absolutely agree with your comments about Bucky. I also hope he makes it well into the competition. He just seems like such a doll and I am always very entertained when he sings. I think he does a great job of working songs to fit his style and voice. He even found a Stevie Wonder song that worked!

Also agree about Kellie. When I heard her make the "calamari" comments, I rolled my eyes and knew she was phoney as hell.

Does Simon really like her that much? I am just not seeing it with her..

You never know. William Hung is came out with a CD! (Not that I'm implying Bucky is anywhere near William's level of, well, non-talent).

But seriously, I know he won't win, but I would like to see him out last Kevin and Kellie.

I have been voting for Chris, Taylor, Elliott and Bucky. I would love to see them at the Final.

Mandisa is my favorite gal. She has it all .... plus some extra.

Yeah - Glad to see some Bucky fans! I have liked him from the beginning.
What I really like about Bucky is that he seems so comfortable with himself. I really enjoy hearing him sing and it seems to come so naturally to him. I really like his personality, too. He is confident but also humble.

I really like Bucky. In all honesty these are the peeps that I would like to see go before he does:

Paris
Kevin
Lisa
Ace
Kellie

Tied right now for the next spot *for me* is Bucky and Elliott. I don't want him to win but I do want him to go far in this competition.

I agree with everyone, except Lisa. I really like her. Paris is too cocky and while is cocky also, he doesn't have any talent.

I hope Bucky does a really good job tonight. Maybe he will pick up enough votes to stick around.

I was also so glad that he didn't get booted out last night! I really like him. He seems so cool and I like his voice.
I think Bucky's vocals are better than what we have seen due to his song choices. I can't wait to hear him sing next week!

Great post, Glowie. I enjoyed listening to the song.

I was overjoyed -- I actually clapped & squealed with glee -- that Bucky wasn't booted last night (and Lisa, for that matter) and that the truly worst one IMO finally went early & didn't take any better performers.

While Bucky isn't one of my favorites, he is far from the bottom of my list & I'd like to see some more Bucky for a few more weeks.

"shouting"? Bucky? hunh.
Mandisa shouts and sounds wonderful doing it. Bucky sings with his awesomely gravelly raw voice and sounds wonderful doing it. That's my opinion, of course, but I don't recal him ever shouting. You should listen to his original stuff.

Bucky doesn't have the best voice in the group, but I think he can sing. I'm just glad that Bucky made into the top 10. We all like different people for different reasons. God knows I'm no fan of Kellie or Ace, but other people love 'em.

From MJ's Big Blog (http://mjsbigblog.com/categories/americanIdol/):

Bucky still seems a little stiff and awkward on the big stage, but that hand to hand mic move is way cool. Bucky's raspy, gritty vocals aren't powerful, but they are interesting and bring something unique to the Idol stage. Alt-country/rocker types like Bucky will never succeed on this show, because quiet, subtle strength does not cut it here. It just gets swallowed up by the stage and the lights and the loud band. It's unfortunate, but the producers seem to be gunning for Bucky. During the judges critiques, Randy and Paula were fine, but then Simon lit into him, "A pointless karaoke performance." Ouch. And then, just to make sure we the viewers got the point that Bucky does indeed suck--he was practically re-critiqued all over again during his post-performance chat with Ryan--where Simon got to add that his performance was "below average". Not fair. Hopefully, his fans rally this week to push him into the Top 10. He belongs on the tour.

and this:
The last little dig Simon made at Bucky--holding up Chris as a beacon of originality compared to him--was pretty funny considering the fact that Chris's version wasn't original at all. Bucky's version of "Oh Boy" was at least truly his own.

I ♥ Bucky!

Do you think Bucky is going to stick with his country roots for song choice this week? I'm not a country fan, but if so, I'm still looking forward to it. I would love to hear him sing a ballad and really show off his vocals. There is something sexy about his voice!

"RE: Bucky"

Well, everybody will need to find a country song to sing this week.

I've been dying to hear him sing a ballad too. Last week I heard a Kenny Chesney's "Summertime" spoiler. I'm just wondering if it applies to this week instead.

"The Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)" by Vertical Horizon. Gary Allen did a country cover of it.

Which, BTW, is no different than Chris doing a Chili Peppers version of a Stevie Wonder song.

I would like to comment on how good Bucky is looking lately. I thought he looked great when he was jamming with Queen. I also thought he looked awesome last night! I love it that he is so tall and he towers over Ryan. Work it Bucky, you definitely have some sex appeal! My only comment for improvement would be he should lose the multiple earrings because they look a little scrappy. How about just a single diamond stud for some bling or something. Go for it Bucky, you’re in Hollywood now!

I'm feeling way too immature for a lot of words right now but I'd like to express some.

Bucky went out on a high note. For this, I'm thankful.

Bucky is a real, true, genuine, sincere talent. I know a lot of people don't get it and I don't really care. I raise my Bucky fan flag high and I will continue to do so. His family is amazing and supportive of him and his fans. The minute his CD comes out, I'll be there. Keep in mind, y'all that Travis Tritt was there for one reason and one reason only. And that reason is the same reason I'll be buying a ticket to at.least. one of those stupid Idol concerts this year. The competition won't be the same without him and I will miss him terribly.

I? am in mourning. As much as people don't get why I love him so much, I don't get why they don't. I'm very proud of him. And I will continue to support him and keep my fan flag raised.

Add me to the club. I am so disappointed and can't understand why Bucky was voted off. At this point I think that American Idol is such a stupid show, I am glad for him in a way. Now he can focus on what kind of music career he wants to have and doesn't have to fit the mold of "American Idol". I really don't know who would want to, anyway.
I love Bucky's genuine personality, too. What I loved about him is that he always seemed comfortable with himself and I think he was having a good time with it and not taking it all too seriously. You get the feeling that he would be a really fun person to hang out with. I think with that kind of warmth, he will gain many more fans in the future.

I really thought that Ace was going last night. When Bucky's name was announced, my heart sank. He really does seem like a fun guy to hang out with. He's not stuck on himself and smiled even when the judges had bad things to say.

I love how he used Simon's useless comment to Paris ("weird") as an example instead of using Simon's useless comments to him. I hope you do get a chance to see Bucky because he really is a genuinely likeable guy. He was on a local morning news show last week, and he was on a radio show yesterday, and my opinion of him is very similar to what others have posted... he's honest, respectful, and sincere. While I could see some of the contestants letting their success on American Idol go to their head (Kevin), he is a very humble guy-- let's hope fame doesnt change him for the worse. He said after the AI tour that he would try to get to Nashville and pursue his country singing.

I wish him much success!

Bucky met with record execs (said to be his first choice) and will be signing a deal when he's released from his AI contract. My secret (or not so secret) hope is that he outsells everybody else, or at least almost everybody else.

Thanks for the great news Glow! I will definetly buy that CD. I miss him being on AI. Wish they would have voted off the other blonde.

Did anyone see Bucky and Rocky at the Darlington SC Nascar race this weekend? They showed them briefly on TV. Looked like they were having a great time!

Yes'm, I did. I jumped up and down yelling and pointing, "lookee, honey! lookee! Bucky! lookee!" DH was thrilled. LOL

I don't know, I'm not sure yellow is Dale Jarrett's color.

Oh, Bucky. That is a good picture of him. And he did look rather smashing all spiffed up last night.

It's Arkie Love

I read on the Bucky boards that last week at a Sawyer Brown concert in OK, Bucky took the stage and sang a few songs with them.

I FINALLY saw Bucky in concert. A concert that wasn't an American Idol concert, I mean. It was a free concert at a nearby County Fair.

He has become quite the showman. His voice sounded so good. I was impressed with him. My mom about fell over when I said he came in 8th place. (I guess I'll have to take her to see Michael Johns too.)

I only have one of the pictures on my computer here.

That's cool! I think he's an example of someone who didn't place in the top 4 yet has carved out a career in music.

The newbies should take note. It can be done.
