Please keep details of this week of "As the Disco Ball Turns" here until the medics take the last person off of the dance floor on a stretcher.

Steve Woz might have to do his dance on his segway, and Steve-O is still seeing the irony of something as "tame" as dancing causing him the most.pain.ever!

Drink of the night

Mango Margaritas and grapefruit Izzes.

Snack of the night

Courtesy of my neighbor .... Chipotle. Carnitas, roasted veggies, guacamole, tomatillo red-chili salsa, rice and black beans.

I am not a fan of Chipotle, but my neighbor loves it. At least she brought each of the ingredients in separate containers, which must have made the Chipotle staff apoplectic.

Just got home, catching up on the DVR.

"Holly and Dmitri"

They decided to play "20 Questions" to get to know each other better......

They're total opposites.....

Dancing the Quickstep to "Baby I Love You"?

Dmitri dragged her around. She shows promise, but my heavens. Looking forward to seeing her again.

Well, the honeymoon is over. She's got to step it up.

"RE: Holly and Dmitri"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 03-17-09 at 01:04 AM
After seeing the whole show, I think some of the contestants did a better quick step than Dmitri. She wasn't the greatest, but I think she could have done better with a better teacher/dancer.
Loved Dmitri on SYTYCD, but I think he's just doing this to help his movie career (which he has started).

"RE: Holly and Dmitri"
Posted by mtopaz on 03-17-09 at 11:45 AM
Although the judges criticized Holly for letting Dmitri drag her around the floor, I hope they were also trying to send a message to him. He's the one doing the dragging. Holly won't last long, unless she has some amazing dance breakthrough, but I do feel she's trying and doing her best. I'm not sure how good a partner/instructor Dmitri is -- to last longer, he should try to emphasize his partner's strengths and make her look as good as possible.

No worries, hon.

Margarita or Izze?

"RE: Crud"

I think I'll try an Izze before I get drunk....

"RE: Ruh-Roh"
Posted by whimsey on 03-16-09 at 07:13 PM
Rumor has it he hurt his back. With some folks that may not be a problem, just a shot of something and dance. But Steve-O is in rehab, an addict. I don't think he can take anything, am I right?

"RE: Ruh-Roh"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:16 PM
I know he just came out of rehab recently..... or at least the rehab building......

"RE: Ruh-Roh"
Posted by Snidget on 03-16-09 at 07:29 PM
Yep, he's been in rehab lately.

That may complicate what they can give him for the pain. I think if it is bad enough they just have to go for it so you can heal and then re-detox you afterwards, but that they wouldn't let him out wandering around much to do. I mean after surgery they will use pain killers even on addicts because sometimes you have to or the brain shuts off to get away from it and that isn't good.

However if he is anything short of needing intervention they probably won't do anything narcotic and that may make it so he can't take enough to numb it out to function (or depending on the injury may be told not to move even if they can numb it out with something).

"David Alan and Kym"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:15 PM
The judges gave him heck for multiple face syndrome.....

David thinks that Bruno needs subtitles..... (I agree)

Wipeout! Near faceplant!

Dancing the Salsa to what sounds like a Salsa-fied "Putting on the Ritz"

"RE: David Alan and Kym"

Hmmm. I'm not sure I agree with the judges.

"RE: David Alan and Kym"

"RE: David Alan and Kym"

.. Oooh, new sparkly paddles!

How will I get the margarita off the screen?

"RE: David Alan and Kym"
Posted by whimsey on 03-16-09 at 07:22 PM
A harder dance, requires a higher technical level. I would have thought DAG would have stepped it up. He is clearly trying not to be the "jacka$$".

When I saw DAG would be on the show, I wondered which David Alan Grier would show, the smart, erudite, quick thinking DAG, or the In Living Color smutty DAG? I'm pleased so far, but there are other 50-somethings to get the votes.

"Denise and Maksim"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:24 PM
*throws out the pillows*

Sex kitten failed to purr last week.....

Denise wants to kill the person who created this dance...... That bent over backwards position isn't very comfortable....

Dancing the Quickstep to "We Go Together" (the closing song from Grease)

"RE: Denise and Maksim"
Posted by Snidget on 03-16-09 at 07:27 PM
That was not very good. Felt like he had to drag her around the stage.

All caught up now, just watched the dances.

"RE: Denise and Maksim"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:30 PM
That didn't take long, although they do tend to talk too much, don't they?

"RE: Denise and Maksim"
Posted by Snidget on 03-16-09 at 07:38 PM
It is amazing how they can cram 20 minutes of dance into 2 hours isn't it.

"RE: Denise and Maksim"
Posted by whimsey on 03-16-09 at 07:28 PM
Uhh, unfortunate. Poor Maks, maybe Denise will go to a hypnotherapist and learn to throw herself into it, like Mel and Laila. I can dream can't I???

"Belinda and Jonathan"

Dancing the Salsa to "Higher"?

"RE: Belinda and Jonathan"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:36 PM
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Bruno was demonstrating dancing in rhythm of the music, and Tom went to the desk and swiped Bruno's #1 Paddle! I was wondering if they had a paddle that low......

"RE: Belinda and Jonathan"

Someone needs to take the extra pins out of her hips so she can move them around a bit more.

"RE: Belinda and Jonathan"

LOL, we will ever see one as a score?

Have we seen the 2 or the 3? Maybe the 3.

"Ty and Chelsie"

Even Ty admitted that his Cha Cha last week was really only a Cha last week......

He's gonna try his concentration face.......

Dancing the Quickstep to "Life Is a Highway" (Cars Version)

Bad start with a botched High-5......

"RE: Ty and Chelsie"

Better than I expected, but then the holding the upper body is probably good from riding.

"RE: Ty and Chelsie"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:46 PM
Ty got a standing ovation from the crowd.

We get an audio/video glitch during Bruno's spiel.

Scores: 7~6~7 for a total of 20, 2-week total of 34

Contemporary twist to the Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals? Yikes.

"RE: Ty and Chelsie"

Love the song and liked the performance. He has skills, waiting for him to believe it.

and whims will be back shortly, apparently the firemen have decided she is "quite healthy". But they still trying mouth-to-mouth. A lot.

"RE: Ty and Chelsie"

Agree with the judges - a vast improvement over last week. From my uninformed perspective, his footwork looked good to me. Nice performance!

"Shawn and Mark"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:52 PM
Shawn, upon seeing the hip movements needed for the Salsa, practically died from embarrassment.......

Mark tried to show her both his steps and hers.....

Dancing the Salsa to traditional Salsa music.

"RE: Shawn and Mark"
Posted by Snidget on 03-16-09 at 07:55 PM
She needs to be able to let go a little bit, but the ability to be precise is a good thing, just it can be a bit too tight for me.

"RE: Shawn and Mark"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:56 PM
Scores: 8~8~8 for a total of 24, 2-week total of 47

"Steve and Karina"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 07:58 PM
Steve got a fractured foot during the practice for this week's Quickstep....

Dancing the Quickstep to "Oh Boy"? *hangs head in shame*

Gotta love the "Nerd" glasses that Steve is wearing this week.....

"RE: Steve and Karina"

I think he wasn't as free as last week, but he still had a lot of fun with that.

"RE: Steve and Karina"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 08:01 PM
Now Katrina was playing with the 1 paddle.

Len will award an additional point for the Buddy Holly song's use......

Entertainment is there, but technicality? Not a chance in heck.

Bruno says that he reminds him of Wall*E.......

Scores: 6~5~6 for a total of 17, 2-week total of 30 and DFL on the judges board by a mile.....

The chorus said I love you a lot, that might be the song.

I am not a fan of the fringy pants. It was kind of blah for a salsa.

"RE: Chuck and Julianne"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 08:11 PM
Scores: 6~7~7 for a total of 20, 2-week total of 40

"RE: Chuck and Julianne"
Posted by mtopaz on 03-17-09 at 12:37 PM
Judges took Chuck to task for not really throwing himself into the performance. I have to agree -- I know all the celebrities are here for the free teevee time, but seems like Chuck thinks dancing is all girly and he's too afraid he'll be accused of "walking like a girl," like Derrick. Get over it or get off my tv screen.

"RE: Chuck and Julianne"
Posted by Loree on 03-17-09 at 04:05 PM
My complaint with Chuck was that he hardly moved around the floor at all. He spent so much time in that one spot in the middle of the floor. As usual Julianne was dancing around him. Reminded me of Helio except Chuck doesn't have the smile.

"Lawrence and Edyta"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 08:14 PM
LT is worried because last week was the better of the first two dances that he was doing in practice........

Dancing the Quickstep to "As Long As I'm Singing"?

"RE: Lawrence and Edyta"

Who is that woman in all those clothes?

That was one of the better dances of the night.

"Steve-O and Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 08:25 PM
They will base the results based on his Dress Rehersal earlier today when he got injured......

Dancing the Salsa to what sounds like the Bong diggity Bong song (or something like it....)

Fortunately the front flip/crash and burn was right at the end of the dance........

"RE: Steve-O and Lacey"
Posted by Snidget on 03-16-09 at 08:28 PM
Bawitdaba by Kid Rock.

Definitely had a rehearsal feel too it. I know the judges don't like the creative stuff, but I think it had some promise.

"RE: Steve-O and Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 08:41 PM
I recognize that song better when Kid sings "My name is Kid.......... KID ROCK!"

"RE: Steve-O and Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 08:31 PM
Scores: 5~4~5 for a total of 14, 2-week total of 31, and in deep trouble. I wonder what will happen if they're forced to go into the Dance-Off?

Because they were judging the Dress Rehersal, the excitement wasn't there, so the judges were a tad harsh.......

Dancing the Quickstep to "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend"

"RE: Lil Kim and Derek"

That was fun. I liked them better in the hold even if they judges didn't like the hold than when they were dancing solo.

"RE: Lil Kim and Derek"
Posted by vince3 on 03-16-09 at 08:38 PM
Scores: 8~7~8 for a total of 23, 2-week total of 47, and a tie for the lead, I think.

"RE: Lil Kim and Derek"
Posted by mtopaz on 03-17-09 at 12:40 PM
I think this was my second favorite dance of the night. Kim really is a teeny tiny thing! I think these two are well partnered and I hope they last a long time in the competition. Very fun to watch!

"Melissa and Tony"

"RE: Gilles and Cheryl"

I do not think the way the band played that helped them during the first half, but overall it was pretty good.

Didn't understand the glasses until the music started.

Favorite performance of the night for me. Rewound and watched it *cough cough* er, a few times. At first, I didn't really like the song, but each time I watched it, liked it and their performance more and more. Another great partnership, plus *whooooosh!* that accent, that charm, ooooh I feel faint! lol
