She went to the doctor, and first told her myspace page that it could be seson-ending if the swelling went down. Later Wednesday, she called it a minor setback, instead.

Either way, at the very least, it'll cost her training time at bare minimum, and the premiere will be on March 9.

Hay-zoose criminy, do any of these people bother to get themselves in any kind of shape before they do this? All these injuries make me think they don't.

I don't think it is just about being too out of shape.

After all a few injuries over the years have been to some pretty fit people. Misty May Treanor comes to mind.

Learning a new skill and moving in a way you usually don't can injure even the really fit. No one is ever perfectly strong and often what we do for one things leaves weaknesses that show up when we try to learn something that torques the body in a way we aren't used to doing.

I don't know. Even the dancers have had injuries (Karina and Derek for example) so I doubt it is not being in shape to dance. I just think they are on a limited schedule and they push themselves too hard.

UsMagazine.com is claiming that Hef's ex Holly Madison is going to be drafted to come in at the last minute and fill in for Jewel because of her injury problems. But insiders at the show are still claiming Jewel will be ready and perform on Monday's show.

Both women sustained injuries during training for the show that prevent them from continuing the competition, the network announced Thursday. Jewel was diagnosed with a fractured tibia in both legs, while the "Access Hollywood" host will need surgery to repair a torn knee cartilage, the network said.

fractured BOTH tibias? I hope she is getting her bone density checked and there is not a more serious underlying medical condition for the fractures.

Cameron Matheson was on GMA today. He was doing DWTS backstage interviews and talking about Jewel and Nancy being out. He said it seems Holly M. and Melissa R. are going to be performing with only a few days rehearsal compared to the rest that have had weeks.
