Normally, I limit my virtual crushes to online personalities--Boo, Seana, Slicey, Glow, Coco . . . okay, so "limit" is the wrong word.

Anyway, I have a new crush in Ms. McPhee (Katharine, not Nanny). She is exactly how I picture my perfect woman (DW excepted, of course). She was hot, hot, HOT last night, dawg! And she sang pretty good, too.

LOL, she has already been the center of some rumors too. The minute Ryan had mentioned that it was rumored that Katherine was leaving Idol because she was pregnant I laughed and thought to myself that probably started due to the shirts she wears, which kind of give her that look. I did however notice that for the first time she wasn't wearing that paticular style. People!!!!

The teeny bopper bouncing and giggling really kills the

Somehow Taylor's electroshock therapy laughter seems to work

It's funny because I hadn't noticed her until last night, but my husband knew exactly who she was, and surprise, she's his favorite! He said she was sexy, and I was like "cool it there buddy!". I was going to dump a bucket of water on him!

Well...I do agree that she is absolutely beautiful and I also think she sounded great last night. The saved her for last for a reason.

I've liked her since she first got to Hollywood. Her attitude was real, and I loved her voice.

There was only 1 week she sounded pretty bad... hehe, (the same week the chic that sang "Hero" got booted), but she came back the next week and has been on fire since!

Anyone else think she looks like Catherine zeta-jones and Victoria Beckham mixed in one? hehehe.

I'm shocked that Kat was in the bottom three. Granted, after listening to her performance again (esp. the beginning), I wouldn't have ranked her number #1 as I did, but she was nowhere near the bottom three. No.where.

I'm perplexed as to why she and not Elliott landed in the bottom three. She has much more personality, better looks, and IMHO a much better voice. Maybe it's the clothes?!

I kinda disagree with that...

I agree that Katherine is a really good singer, and certainly very attractive, but she kinda leaves me cold. Not nearly as phoney as Paris & Kellie...not nearly as lost as poor little Lisa -- but not nearly as gut-wrenching real as Mandisa.

Reminds me of a couple of seasons ago when Simon said to Diana DeGarmo (I think it was her?) "it's like there's a sheet of glass between you and the audience."

I just haven't caught the McPhever.

I like Elliot's personality, and he sings at least as well as Katherine.

Me either, tamarama. She's pretty for sure, but something about her personality seems off to me. She seems very wrapped up in herself. I don't relate to her performances at all.

But with that backstage mama of hers, how could she be any different?

I know this is a love thread, so let me start by saying that the girl is absolutely gorgeous, and she can definitely sing.

To me, she is lacking something and it will cost her. She doesn't look comfortable on stage. Not sure if it's nerves or something else I can't quite put my finger on, but she just is missing something. She definitely needs to start showing more emotion.

I also think that she appeals to an older crowd. A crowd that is much less likely to pick up the phone and vote, so while she may be really good, it may not take her all the way because of the nature of her fans.

I believe Bo had the same problem. Bo fans (in general) were not the same dedicated (2 straight hours) voters that Carrie fans were.

Maybe my theory is wrong. We shall see.

I like Katherine and I feel like I want her to do well, but it is always lacking something for me. Last night I thought her song choice was terrible and, even though she moved around the stage, I was totally bored by her performance.
I think she is beautiful (I want her hair!) and has good vocal talent, but I think she lacks the "star" quality that it takes to make it in the industry. I predict that despite her talent, viewers will feel the same and we may end up seeing her in the bottom three again. (although, for sure there are others who should go before her)

I agree. She is also very conceited and self centered. Her comment when she in the bottom three last week and her head nodding this week is proof of that. She acts like she is too good for American Idol and HOW DARE she not get the most votes. I'm glad she was in the bottom three last week because I think it gave her a reality check. She may be "pretty" but her actions make her "ugly".

I noticed that, but wasn't sure how to CONSTRUE it. I never got the impression that Kat was arrogant, snobby or affected and she really has no reason to be, because she's never really been a "pet" of the Judges -- heck, Simon couldn't even remember her name in an interview. She seems sweet and she's definitely a beautiful girl with a really good voice.

Anywhoo, I thought that her shaking her head was probably just one of those "knee jerk" reactions, like "I can't believe we're very possibly the bottom of the bunch." I really doubt she was shaking her head to signify that she knew they WEREN'T the bottom 3 -- after all, they've all been there before, so why wouldn't she believe they were there again.

But I've always been the kind of person who gives another the "benefit of the doubt" until undeniably proven otherwise. Optimistic & trustung to a fault, sometimes.

oh I'm not saying she was answering "no" with the shake of her head. I too think she was thinking "I can't believe I am in the bottom 3 again", which to me seems as arrogant as shaking her head to say "no way. It's not me."

But I don't really care because she's winning me over with her hotness (it was the greasy garage video) and we all know that's all I care about. {/sarcasm}

I'm neutral about Katharine. I really don't see the reason for all the Kat lvoe, but I also don't think she's wrong for the competition. Anyways, there have been some arguments about how "humble" Katharine really is and this article came up:

It's an (old) interview of a contestant who was cut during the Hollywood round, where she expresses her distaste for some of the remaining contestants, including Katharine. Here are some quotes:

"Anyways, Katherine is not so humble, she's overzealous, she's bossy, she's a b*tch, and they totally portray her as being the sweet girl. They didn't air the fight that we had because they wanted to keep her."

She also had a lot to say about other contestants like Ayla, Sway, Kellie, and Heather. Some parts of the interview might seem a bit snarky and bitter though, so I really don't know what to make of it. The rest of the interview seems okay though.

I looked at the website. I'm impressed with Mama McPhee. Peisha seems to have great control of her instrument and is very expressive, as well. You can tell exactly where Kat gets her style of singing.

Yeah the judges were way off on her tonight and i tried and tried for like 2hours to get a call in and i couldnt do it man im pissed. Anyway she was in a league way above anyone else there. No way i was definately entertained. I mean i couldnt believe i was watch an amatuer singing like that esp with bocelli wow unbelieveable!

So I have not been a member of the "Love KM Club", but I will defend her perfomance last night because it was really good and the most enjoyable for me yet.
What do you all think about the bogus comments from the judges? I really think that the producers told them to do that to her to cause a "reverse psychology" reaction from viewers, causing them to call because she was not as bad as they made her out to be. I watched their comments again after the show and they were totally overboard and did not seem genuine. Especially because all of the judges were quick to rate her poorly, I really think it was production propaganda. Anyone agree?

I don't know about the "reverse psychology" angle, but I definitely agree that something was up. First of all, Paula was totally high on something (again) last night. I was really hoping that Simon would at least have something good to say. I knew Randy wouldn't like it because he doesn't think anyone can sing Whitney (WHATEVER "DOG"), and as I mentioned before Paula was clearly not in her right mind last night (what with all the crying and jumping up and down and long winded critiques), but when Simon even disliked it-- I smell conspiracy! I personally thought Katherine shined like the star she is last night. She looked and sounded beautiful. Well done KAT!!!

Katharine is just a beauty both visually and personality-wise. She has an amazing voice & so much potential. I was really disgusted by how harsh the judges were on her & it's obvious they are not Kat fans.

I also want to note (for those people who think Katharine is a snob or a bit@h) I thought it was wonderful that they showed Andrea's comments in Kat's clip about how Andrea a blind man knew Katharine was a really beautiful girl. He's talking about her heart & character and what she exudes. He knows what a beauty she is.

It actually pained me to see her reaction to their criticism last night. You could tell that she, and the audience, thought that she'd done well, and she was a bit taken aback that they hit her so hard.

I went back and watched last night's show. It appeared that a button or something on Kat's dress came undone/apart, which caused her "flashing" incident. She even tried to pull it back together very quickly.

If Kat and Taylor are the final two the show will be about 2 times as entertaining as if Elliot and Taylor are the final 2. Kat has stumbled, but not all that badly, and I don't find her boring. If she didn't show her emotions ie. disgruntlement when she gets bashed again and again by the judges while Elliot gets a glowing report no matter how insignificant his performance, she would be accused of being another Ayla (whom I actually liked). I don't think anything can stop Taylor from taking top prize, but being in the final two is not a bad place to be.

I was so proud of her last night when she finally stood up for herself to Randy and Paula. And did you notice how Paula backed off at the first sign of resistance from her? All of a sudden she changed her tune. I'm so tired of her and Randy sabotaging Kat in favor of pimping Elliot!! He is SOOOOO boring. And although I am not generally a person who judges people by how they look- is it just me or does he look like that guy in middle school who got beat up every day for picking his nose? Sorry, I got off topic. Anyway, Katherine rocked last night. I got chills all over when she sang Somewhere Over The Rainbow. I voted for her 26 times last night. Hope all our efforts pay off and she's in the finals. She deserves it.

I feel like I just climbed out of the gutter after paging through some of the vindictive fighting going on over at AI boards. Some people are desperate to trash KM and particularly her parents because they rejoiced for her instead of crying over Elliot going home. Some are all too willing to call her immature and compare her modest tour of her high school and a couple of local LA stations to the grand parades extended to Taylor and Elliot. They imply that nobody liked her enough to make a fuss. The pity party for Elliot is getting just a little too deep and slimy for me. He is 27 years old and was working at a pharmacy, so this means he is supposed to be rewarded by winning AI? I'm up late because I was talking late to my tall 6'0, voluptuous, gorgeous, talented daughter. She recently lost about 30 pounds and suddenly all the women at work who used to be her friends are being catty. She wonders why men seem scared of her. Like Kat, she has a lot of talent (multi-lingual, fine sculptor, actress, singer) but she has often shed tears since she was a too-tall seventh grade student in the gifted program. A lot of people really hate talented, attractive people. Often the objects of this negative emotion react by being shy, which others assume is snobbish. I'm disgusted that a tape of a young girl's drama antics are being spread on the internet (remember, she was wearing panties when the yellow dress failed). I don't believe that she is a snob, a prima donna, or a sluuu--. Maybe I am taking this a bit too personally, but I really think that Kat has been getting a bad rap.

I agree 100%. Contrary to popular belief, she truly is a sweetheart. And can the woman wear the heck out of a dress or what? Many times throughout the night I found myself saying outloud, "Are you fvcking kidding me?!!" She is absolutely gorgeous and looked and acted every bit of the star that I think she's on her way to becoming.

I think you actually have to be able to sing in tune to win American Idol. Being a coat hanger for a dress is different.

Can just imagine if you saw someone voted for Taylor because they posted:

"MY GOD! I just love Taylor because of the way he wore that pink jacket!!!! He just looked so coooooolll!!!!"

You'd all be all over someone for that.

Katherine has a good voice ... potentially absolutely great voice. She has unbelievable potential and I wish her well, but she's not ready to be a star. She needs to stop singing off key which she does everytime she tries to "belt" and push her voice.

Love her tone though. That's a God given talent that I'm sure will make her successful.

Have nothing bad to say about her demeanor either. I think all the contestants conducted themselves appropriately this year.
