"Bring on the INXS songs so we can see who is right for the band!"

Greetings all. I found these forums after searching for a place to talk about Rock Star: INXS, which has me hooked like nothing since the first couple seasons of Survivor.

My first instinct from watching the show was that since INXS essentially has all the power in choosing who stays and who goes, unless I missed something. Public opinion really doesn’t matter, so the show is pointless if you really think about it. However, it makes for great television so I am glad they went through with this. The only problem I can for see is if INXS already has the ‘winner’ chosen and is only doing the TV show for the publicity. Hopefully not, but remember this IS from Mark Burnett.

My second thought on Rock Star was that there is no way a female will be selected to replace a male lead, just like some of you have mentioned in other threads. However, I have backed off of that opinion, maybe just to elude myself that it is a true competition.

Getting back to the topic, I don’t think any of the previous performances have mattered at all, other then to provide good television and eliminate the extra contestants that were there just to extend the number of episodes. As I see it, the only thing that will matter is how each performer looks on stage while singing INXS songs and only 5 of them will be able to pull it off. Mig, JD, Marty, Suzie, and Jordis.

I think that Jordis is really, really good. She has the most charisma of the bunch and a unique voice that's nice to listen to. If this were an overall signing competition she would win. However, she will not be right for INXS.

That leaves Mig, JD, Marty, and Suzie. Mig is the safe choice here but I am going out on a limb and pick Suzie as the contestant who wil perform the best when things heat up. Suzie “nailed” her first attempt at an INXS song and I think she would look good fronting the band a concert. Just think about that performace on stage in front of thousands of fans. She will fit in well, in my opinion. Now, go ahead and call me crazy.

We are all entitled to our opinions and although I agree with most of what you have to say, I don’t think Suzie fits at all. First off in the looks department she has enough tattoos to fit in Motley Crue or Guns and Rose not INXS. The nose piercing to boot. But most importantly I have watched her the last couple of weeks and she just doesn’t get enough into the songs. The Stevie Wonder song was a perfect example. She gets up there and just stands there….I mean that song was one that should’ve shown her movie around and getting funky she didn’t and INXS is funky. Suzie just aint funky. Also, think her voice is just so so. And the harmonica playing was poor. I mean I could’ve done that and I played harmonica like twice in my life like 15 years ago.

I am curious about Brandon. With a little brushing up he fits in with the other INXS people. I have yet to see him however perform and INXS style song so the jury is still out but he stands a chance.

I have to respectfully disagree with you about Brandon (though I think you are right on about Suzie). I am a huge long-time INXS fan and the range needed to sing those songs is huge. Brandon's attempt to sing Squeeze's "Tempted" last week revealed his very, very, very limited range. If any woman is picked, it would have to be Jordis. But I think it will be a guy. And I think the only ones for which this job is a possibility are Marty, Ty, Mig, or JD. They're my picks for the final 4.

I'm such a slut for the blues.

I'm with you Geg, with JD and MiG leading the pack (although I really, really like Ty -- just not sure of fit with INXS). Marty is growing on me, so we'll see.

I want to see how Brandon does after the voice clinic that INXS talked about him maybe benefiting from. So far, I don't think Brandon is right for INXS, he is Southern Rock.

"A different question"

Slightly Unrelated...

Why do most people spell MiG with a lower-case "i", and upper-case "M" & "G"?

Is it posted that way somewhere else? (On the website all letters are in caps, so in my limited search, I didn't see it there).

Is it an abbreviation for something?

Is it snarky?

Just want to understand, thanks.

It's just the way MiG spells his name.
Check out the msn website, where they have their personal spaces or blogs or whatever they're calling them.

"enough tattoos to fit in Motley Crue or Guns and Roses"? I only remember the tattoo on her back. I looked at some pictures to refresh my memory, and I only saw the one. On her back.

Ok, maybe I am wrong about the tattoos. I thought I saw her with her forarms covered in tattoos. But I just saw another picture and she didn't have them. Is it Deanna that has forarms covered in tattoos. I know it was a female (not Heather or Jessica).

Everything else I said I will stand by.

I think you might be thinking of the shirt she wore. It was a nudish color with tattoo looking print on it. She wore it under a black shirt on the results show, I think.
