"DWTS#7, Episode 10, ECST"

Tonight, we get to see four new dances. West Coast Swing, Hustle, Jitterbug, and Salsa. If anyone gets the Hustle, it's a safe prediction that someone also drew "Do The Hustle" for their song........

(this is the correct episode #..... we're beginning week 5 and the first week had 3 episodes.....)

Bet the conspiracy theorist are salivating over this one. Lacey doing West Coast Swing.

Drink of the night
El Dorado Reserve Special 12 year Rum with a splash of seltzer and a wedge of lime.

Snack of the night

Homemade party mix...heavy on the cashews and almonds, lots of Chex Mix and pretzels sprinkled with other stuff. Dash of tabasco in the mix.

Better not check the sodium levels on this one.

Mmmm I'll take some of that. Just got home and I'm hungry.

All four dance types will be showcased tonight...... two couples to a dance type......

"Lance and Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 08:06 PM
One of our co-leader's from last week gets to go first.

Here come the conspiracy theorists, Lacey got her world championship dance type, and she has her dad, the King of Swing to help teach Lance today......

Dancing the West Coast Swing to "3:30"?

"RE: Lance and Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 08:11 PM
Scores: 7~7~7 for a total of 21

Apparently there was a fall during the dance...... I wouldn't know, a phone call prevented me from watching.......*grrr*

It looked like Lance was trying some sort of cross step and his feet went out: the floor may have been partially at fault here, along with slick shoes. He recovered quickly, but it wasn't good for his score.

Personally, I thought he was distracted by all the horrible repetition in that song.

It was at the end of one of those slide moves like I think Benji used to do a lot, who knew those were hard?

Anywho, it did seem the dance was all about Lacey and not enough about Lance.

I thought it was another damn Rhianna song "Breakin Dishes"

Lance tried hard to keep up with the Schwimmers .... this is why I'm not a Lacey fan. Lance had the musicality, but not the expertise to keep up.

Kisses to Lance, with all my pretend votes.

I agreed with the judges. Lacey was too busy showing off herself and she left Lance behind.

Yup, same here. Her job was to make him look good, and she failed on that.

I didn't like her when she was on So You Think You Can Dance, partly for this very reason. She's all about Lacey, all the time. Maybe it's genetic - everyone in that family is a serious attention whore.

I get the feeling the judges or maybe the producers have spoken to Lacey about this issue earlier on, and she wasn't getting the message. With all the three judges speaking very pointedly about her showboating, I still wonder if the point sunk home. Somehow, I rather doubt it. Her response to Samantha that she was the new kid on the block and should expect this was just dumb.

Hopefully she won't be asked back next season.

She needs to be taller in her dances...... she wants an encore dance..... (didn't she see that last year that can also be the Kiss of Death?)

Dancing the West Coast Swing to "The Way You Make Me Feel"

"RE: Toni and Alec"
Posted by whimsey on 10-20-08 at 08:20 PM
Wrong music. wrong outfit, wrong placement in the lineup.

She can definitely better.

"RE: Toni and Alec"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 08:21 PM
Scores: 7~7~8 for a total of 22 and a win in the head-to-head against Lance/Lacey........

"RE: Toni and Alec"
Posted by Snidget on 10-20-08 at 09:50 PM
Did someone starch Toni? That was stiff.

So they get to do lifts this week?

"Another annoying twist."
Posted by Estee on 10-20-08 at 08:23 PM
Four new dances in one night is going to hurt a lot of the viewers. After this many seasons, we know what to look for on the established dance types, at least to the point where we can spot some of the footwork and have an instinctive sense of when something's going right or wrong. One new dance a week, we'd slowly adjust to and add to the subconscious comparison files. But four in one week, with nothing we know? Floundering in the water without engine, rudder, or oars.

Uh, compassion, sensitivity, flexibility of judgment?!?!

I am soooo marking this thread. Must.Warn.Others.

"Susan and Tony"

Len's gonna take a week off next week, there will be a guest judge announced tomorrow........

It's now been confirmed that Susan has fractured her foot in two places.......

Dancing the Hustle to "Round and Round (Upside Down, Insde Out)"

Love, love,love La Lucci!

Was a sedate hustle, but a hustle none the less. Worthy of Diana Ross - the original diva! She may get my real votes.

Upside down, boy you turn me --- I could just see her singing this in the rain in Central Park.

"RE: Susan and Tony"
Posted by Loree on 10-20-08 at 08:34 PM
I agree that Tony is treating her like she is made of china. He is so delicate with her and acts like she will break. It hurts the look of the dance. I just found it slow.

"RE: Susan and Tony"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 08:36 PM
Scores: 7~7~8 for a total of 22.

"RE: Susan and Tony"
Posted by Snidget on 10-20-08 at 10:01 PM
Was it just me, or was the band so bad that the beat of what they were doing and the beat they were dancing to just didn't line up?

She did seem awfully delicate, I wish she'd let loose sometime. You would think someone who was on a soap that long wouldn't dance like such a prissy virgin.

"Warren and Kym"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 08:39 PM
They're disappointed by the scores they got last week.....

Dancing the Hustle to "Funkytown" (WTF version)

Outstanding!

Just outstanding! WooHooo!!!

But I do love me some "Big Man". mmmmmmm

"RE: Warren and Kym"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 08:43 PM
Scores: 8~8~9 for a total 25, beating Susan/Toni in the head to head, and taking the overall lead.......

"RE: Warren and Kym"

That was fun!!!

"RE: Warren and Kym"

My favorite dance of the night! These two are always fun to watch together - they have a fun, playful chemistry, and Warren constantly amazes me with how light on his feet he is, being such a big teddy bear. He should definitely be one of the final three.

They finally saw the Red Light of Doom, and they went out to thank the masses that voted for them.....

Dancing the Salsa to traditional Salsa music?

"RE: DWTS#7, Episode 10, ECST"

Scores: Total of 21, I missed the breakdown.....

"Clorky"
Posted by Snidget on 10-20-08 at 10:19 PM
Uh, it was meh, but what the heck was with the boobie grab?

"RE: DWTS#7, Episode 10, ECST"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 10-21-08 at 00:37 AM
I still like Cloris. She brings an element of fun and life that a few of the other dancers are missing. I don't want her to win, but I don't want her to leave yet.

"Maurice and Cheryl"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 09:03 PM
We kinda expected that this would happen...... Cheryl isn't completely sure how to do this dance either.........

Dancing the Salso to *shrug* (Dadada dandan?)

"RE: Maurice and Cheryl"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 09:06 PM
Scores: Total of 27 (I think it was trip 9s, but I wasn't paying attention.....)

"RE: Maurice and Cheryl"
Posted by whimsey on 10-20-08 at 09:09 PM
Have no idea how I would score this as a judge. Do I score it based on the other dances, based on Maurice's development as a dancer, or what will get Clorky the heck out of the competition.

"RE: Maurice and Cheryl"

Mo had a fantastic salsa shake! I was impressed!

Triple 9.

I kinda felt you could give the same criticism to this that Lacey got. It was as if she didn't really give him enough of the dance.

"Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 09:14 PM
Derrick is another one that's having problems with the new dances......... he hasn't dnoe the Jitterbug at all.....

He had to go online and get a cheat seat...... *good grief*

Dancing the Jitterbug to "Don't Be Cruel" (hint for the judges?)

"RE: Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by whimsey on 10-20-08 at 09:18 PM
Costuming should have been WWII centric not 50s, but excellent routine. Excellent.

"RE: Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 09:25 PM
Scores: 10~9~10 for a total of 29, and the outright lead. (First 29 of the season, first 10s for Carrie Ann and Bruno as well.....)

"RE: Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by kbrockm on 10-20-08 at 09:54 PM
Brooke is definitely leading the pack! Both couples that did jitterbugs were just great tonight! I know from personal experience that is a hard dance and takes a lot of wind. Brooke and Cody both did an excellent job!

For having to get a cheat sheet that was pretty good and a lot of fun.

"Cody and Julianne"
Posted by vince3 on 10-20-08 at 09:29 PM
Dancing the Jitterbug to.... I dunno. (They were dressed like Lucy and Ricky from I Love Lucy.....)

Next week they get to dance their own dance, and group dance in Hip Hop.......

Scores: 10~9~9 for a total of 28 (1 point short of Brooke and Derrick.....)

I think that was a fair judging. I kept thinking is he going to snap in two from the weight of the dance?

He is just so small.

"RE: Cody and Julianne"
Posted by kbrockm on 10-20-08 at 09:57 PM
I liked the addition of the jitterbug to the buffet of dances on the show! Cody did a great job. They obviously waived the rule against lifts tonight, but even so I didn't expect tiny Cody to take so much advantage of that. He deserved his excellent score and is a force to be reckoned with in this competition!

Thanks everyone for the synopses. We had Patriots football tonight and so no DWTS until 2 AM which was ridiculous. At first when I couldn't find Dancing it felt like a repeat of Saturday night's Steve Harvey fiasco on TBS. But this was evidently planned.
