One hour to go...I can't believe I'm nervous wanting to know for sure. *bites lip*

I heard on one of the sports talking head shows earlier that the rumor is true, but no word about the second half of it......

Drink of the night

Jack Daniels and soda (Coke-a-Cola for the uninitiated) Or in my case, caffeine-free diet coke, with lime.

Snack of the night

Pistachios - been years since I've burrowed my way through a bag of white pistachios. Yummy!

Join me, won't you?

I'll have to drown my sorrows for my dear, delicious Maks.

*wonders if they would keep Maks going with the potential sub.....? (Frankenstein team)*

I'm Pistachioed out. Bought a bag of kernels recently.

Got anything sweet?

A friend is visiting from Germany, and brought marzipan! Dark chocolate with cointreau and milk chocolate with almonds.

Gonna need a cigarette after these.

"Introductions"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:01 PM
They introduced the stars and Misty's MIA........

We'll get an update on her condition....... much later......

"RE: Introductions"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 08:03 PM
*roll eyes*

Guess they want to keep the ones just looking for the train wreck around for more of the show.

At least it would appear Kim isn't back.

"RE: Introductions"

yet.

"RE: Introductions"
Posted by CTgirl on 10-06-08 at 10:57 PM
Kim isn't worth bringing back.

I bet they go with the ole give everyone a free pass this week and combine two weeks of scores and votes so the lowest goes home next week.

"Susan and Tony"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:04 PM
Susan is listening to her head too much and not the heart......

Tony took Susan to Radio City Music Hall for a kicking lesson with the Rockettes.......

Dancing the Jive to "Why Do Fools Fall In Love?" (not too bad....)

"RE: Susan and Tony"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 08:06 PM
Susan's got her ankle wrapped as well.

It was OK, but she needs to let loose a bit. She is so controlled all the time, and I don't think that is just because she can't move better than that.

"RE: Susan and Tony"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:09 PM
Bruno appears to be distracted by Susan's cleavage initially.....

Scors: 7~7~7 for a total of 21

We get 9 votes tonight........ which means Misty's out and there's no replacement, apparently........

"RE: Susan and Tony"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 08:10 PM
Oh my, Susan. Bless you little heart. I didn't notice the injury until Len mentioned it. I thought she was thinking of last season when Jane Seymour showed her limitations with the jive.

I still "heart" La Lucci.

"Lance and Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:15 PM
It seems like they have a rebellious streak against Len.......

They even went to a Nursing Home to get a report card from senior citizens.......

Dancing the Vienese Waltz (no gimmicks...) to "Let Me Be Who I Am"?

"RE: Lance and Lacey"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 08:17 PM
I thought that was pretty nice and elegant.

"RE: Lance and Lacey"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 08:19 PM
My thoughts exactly, Snidget.

"RE: Lance and Lacey"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 10-07-08 at 02:13 AM
I agree—this was indeed quite lovely. There was no way they deserved the criticism or the low scores.

"RE: Lance and Lacey"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:19 PM
Scores: 8~7~7 for a total of 22.

"Maurice and Cheryl"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:26 PM
You'd think that a track star would have good footwork.......

Cheryl has to resort to footwork training, like tire drills and jump rope to help him out.......

Dancing the Jive to "Rock Around the Clock" (Also known as the theme from Happy Days.....)

"RE: Maurice and Cheryl"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 08:28 PM
That was fun, and they looked like they had a great time.

"RE: Maurice and Cheryl"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 08:28 PM
I found myself holding my breath for him. Good job.

"RE: Maurice and Cheryl"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:33 PM
Scores: 8~8~8 for a total of 24 and the current lead.

"Rocco and Karina"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:36 PM
They're in depression mode 25........

This week's drills were done with Rocco blindfolded........

Dancing the Vienese Waltz (blindfolded, partially) to "What's New, Pussycat?"

"RE: Rocco and Karina"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 08:38 PM
I think that was better than he has been. I actually liked that.

"RE: Rocco and Karina"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:42 PM
Scores: 7~7~6 for a total of 20

They were on the rehersal stage when Misty got hurt....... so they comforted her until the EMTs arrived.......

"RE: Rocco and Karina"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 08:49 PM
I really like Rocco, for some strange reason. Maybe because I am not a Karina fan. Hope they go forward.

"Warren and Kym"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:48 PM
Review of the Matrix Paso Doble........

This week Warren has to be gentle...... not really his specialty, I think......

Dancing the Vienese Waltz to "Loving You Is Easy"?

"RE: Warren and Kym"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 08:52 PM
Got into the character, but I dunno I kept getting distracted by the over stuffed sausage look.

"RE: Warren and Kym"
Posted by CTgirl on 10-06-08 at 10:59 PM
I like this team a lot, but the color of his costume kind of accentuated his gut too, lol!

"RE: Warren and Kym"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 08:54 PM
I thought he would be more smooth. But he still makes me smile.

"RE: Warren and Kym"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:56 PM
Scores: 9~8~8 for a total of 25 and the new leaders!

"RE: Warren and Kym"

*jaw drops*
Holy Cripes -- He's GOOD!
He was actually stepping inside partner -- it is so rare to see, usually the people are so far apart to avoid collisions.
WOW o' WOW. Definitely my fav.

"RE: Warren and Kym"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 10-07-08 at 12:05 PM
???????????

I thought he sucked. Does this mean this is the opening salvo of the infamous and civilization-destroying qwerty/Dan war?

OTOH, you would know about these things. I simply go by style and grace, which I think Lance and Lacey had in spades over this guy.

"RE: Warren and Kym"
Posted by qwertypie on 10-07-08 at 01:06 PM
Oh, it would take more than that to get rid of me

I do think Lacey and Lance are being marked way lower than deserved.

I am also taking into consideration Warren's size.

Warren's choreography was difficult even if it didn't look impressive.

I'll have to youtube Lance and Lacey's dance and Warren's and Kym's to compare the two.

I am sure we can still be friends despite our differences

"Cody and Julianne"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 08:59 PM
They were at Disneyland for Miley Cyrus's Sweet 16 party......

Dancing the Jive to "Call Me The Breeze"?

"RE: Cody and Julianne"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 09:01 PM
Leg guitar once, OK, but twice seemed a bit much, like they ran out of steps he can do.

"RE: Cody and Julianne"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 09:04 PM
Seemed forced. Good try, though, just needs to take everything down a notch.

"RE: Cody and Julianne"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 09:04 PM
Scores: 7~7~7 for a laughing total of 21 because Cloris interupts the interview when Samantha thinks that Cody's female fans demographic might be getting older......

"Toni and Alec"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 09:12 PM
Toni wants to break out of her shell, but with the Waltz, that's a slight problem......

Dancing the Vienese Waltz to "Fleur de Lis, rock version" (I think that's what it's called.... it's a classical Waltz song, with rocking guitar sections.....)

"RE: Toni and Alec"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 09:13 PM
How, um, odd.

"RE: Toni and Alec"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 09:15 PM
Scores: 8~7~7 for a total of 22

We still have time to vote for the dancers in the interactive Macy's Stars of Dance segment later in the season....... Dancing costumes must be in by Friday!

"RE: Toni and Alec"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 09:16 PM
She is so lovely...that should have been spectacular, but not so much.

Still love them though.

"Cloris and Corky"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 09:23 PM
Here comes VFTW's favorite couple!

Does Cloris have the stamina for this dance since it's the longest of them all?

Dancing the Jive to "The Girl Can't Help It"

"RE: Cloris and Corky"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 09:24 PM
Was the loss of the head piece planned?

Tom has to send Corky off to get her over to the judges.

"RE: Cloris and Corky"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 11:30 PM
From what I heard there was a slight wardrobe malfunction....... underneath the wig was a skull cap that said "vote for me!", but it got pulled off as well to reveal her actual hair pinned in........

"RE: Cloris and Corky"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 09:26 PM
What!?! Who?!?! Just.....

Yikes.

"RE: Cloris and Corky"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 09:27 PM
I will give it up to Corky for making the most of what he has to work with.

I dunno if any of the other guys would be able to come up with something that exploits the wacky while keeping it at least somewhat in character with the dance style.

Of course they did. And by design. Clorky has posted thank you videos to VFTW when they make it through so it isn't like they are unaware of their main voting demographic.

ETA: Popped over there, lots of VFTW Victory Signage.

"RE: Forgive me for what I'm about to say:"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 10:17 PM
why shouldn't they? Clorky has been the wost couple every week so far, and they're still alive!

"RE: Cloris and Corky"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 09:31 PM
Scores: 6~5~5 for a total of 16...... they're nothing if not consistent.......

"Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 09:35 PM
Arguments, arguments, arguments.........

Dancing the Vienese Waltz to "Daughters" I think

"RE: Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 09:36 PM
Very nice, and cute kiss with daughter at the end.

"RE: Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 09:40 PM
Well, dang it, they get all my pretend votes. Yep, I fell for the drama.

"RE: Brooke and Derrick"
Posted by vince3 on 10-06-08 at 09:42 PM
Scores: 9~10~9 for a total of 28 (the first 10 of the season, and it was from Len no less!) and obviously the outright lead.

"RE: DWTS#7, Episode 5, ECST"

Time for the official word on Misty......

Ow...... sounds like her bone broke.......in the middle of a Lindy Hop for her Jive......

She's on crutches, so she's definitely out........

Torn/Ruptured Achilles Tendon. Thankfully, her volleyball season is currently over.......

Ironically it was the first dance she was gonna do in sneakers.......

"RE: DWTS#7, Episode 5, ECST"
Posted by Snidget on 10-06-08 at 09:47 PM
I know someone that did that. I'm guessing she's going to be out for quite awhile and then need a lot of PT once it is healed enough to be out of a cast.

I think people tend to recover pretty well, but I don't know about high level athletes.

"RE: DWTS#7, Episode 5, ECST"
Posted by whimsey on 10-06-08 at 09:58 PM
I remember she and her teammate during the Olympics saying all they wanted to do was have some babies.

Well, keep that ankle up Misty May, keep that ankle up!

"RE: DWTS#7, Episode 5, ECST"
Posted by Karchita on 10-07-08 at 02:13 AM
I did that about ten years ago playing volleyball. It's nasty. I couldn't stand to watch it happening to her. Ugh. It's still bringing back some unpleasant memories.

A rupture (or even a partial tear) is always season-ending and surgery is the only option (as far as I know), but she should be able to come back from it just fine. It'll take a while, though.

"RE: DWTS#7, Episode 5, ECST"
Posted by Snidget on 10-07-08 at 06:18 AM
I checked the web, once in awhile it is in a spot where they can just cast it and let it reknit itself, but if you are active they strongly recommend surgery in all cases as you risk the self-repair becoming a weak spot prone to do it again.

It does take a bunch of time, one of my coworkers had it happen and it is just a long time in a cast so it heals then weeks of rehab to get back the range of motion and undo the muscle loss from the cast.

"Great job!"

Thanks, vince, honey. Great job.
