"Injury updates"

http://tvwatch.people.com/2008/10/04/dwtss-misty-may-treanor-injured/

There are conflicting reports, some say she had surgery and is definitely out and Kim is coming back, other sites say she is just injured and a decision will be made on Monday if she will participate.

The early reports she broke her ankle appear to be false. Some say it is an Achilles Tendon Injury.

Wow -- either way I think she is going to be out. No way will she risk her volleyball future for this.

MSNBC is reporting that she's out. No word on whether Kim is in.

That seems to be from the earlier Access Hollywood article.

The most recent one isn't as clear that she is out

link

"“Misty May-Treanor sustained an injury on Friday and received immediate medical attention,” show producers told Access on Saturday in a statement. “Despite previous reports, she did not break her ankle. She is resting comfortably at home. Doctors will reevaluate her condition on Monday and determine the outcome of her participation on the show.”

However, earlier on Saturday, a source close to the show told Access that the volleyball star is out of the competition and will require surgery."

Which is why I'm not sure what the current story is.

I've had this same injury.

I did it playing volleyball, but it can happen anytime doing almost any sport. It's really bad and incredibly painful. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. She's lucky it didn't happen a month or so ago during the Olympics or she wouldn't have her gold medal, but she should be able to rehab and come back from it just fine.

If she completely ruptured the tendon, there is no other treatment other than surgery as I understand it. Even a partial tear is season ending for any athelete.
