"Bravo - Brewer Great Fight Best man (barely) won"

Posted by gwing on 09-19-06 at 11:46 PM
These guys were two of my favorite three (Forbes is the other). For Brewer to get up after being knocked down and throw that many punches for the rest of the fight was unbeleivable. Bravo, certainly proved that he was one of the best four in the house. For those of you who doubt the results, please rewind your tivo and take a really HONEST punch count. Bravo had some good shots in the later rounds, but Brewer was much more busy. Also look at the comments from Bravo's corner compared to Brewer's Bravo's trainer was much more panicked in the later rounds, and seemed to me to be telling his fighter he was behind. Grady's corner was giving more advice along the lines of keep up the same strategy.

My only problem with the scoring was the 49 - 46 judge. It wasnt that lop sided. I had it 48 - 47 Brewer.

The fact that the scoring was that lopsided should tell you something.

It tells me that one judge was one round off, and the other two saw similar fights. If one judge had Bravo by one or two points, and another saw the opposite, I could see your point. None of the judges had Bravo winning. Also, most of the crowd seemed to think that it was very close.

I mentioned this in another thread, but that judge wasn't just off by one round. He had no rounds at 10-8, and the first round should have been a 10-8 round, unless the way boxing is scored has changed so drastically as to not recognize knockdowns.

That said, I don't have a problem with the decision. Just one judge's scorecard.

Agreed. To me, it was close enough, that if it had gone the other way, I wouldn't have gone crazy. I also like both fighters.

Agreed. 49-46!? Did that judge not happen to notice that Brewer got knocked down? It is impossible to get a score of 49 if you are knocked down. Therefore either the judge is blind or doesn't know how to properly score a boxing match. To me, that means that that judge's score should be thrown out.

If you could throw that score out, Brewer still would win. 48-47 and tie.

Bashing other posters here isn't allowed. You need to make your points without attacking other posters.

Thank you, this is about the third time pcboy213 has done this (some in other threads). I love the debate, but the insults are not necessary.

"Did YOU watch the same fight I did?"

Then you would see that Grady won. Granted he was knocked down in the 1st round and had the bell not rung he probably would have been knocked out soon after but he wasn't and came back and won. I watched it after the 1st airing. DH thought that Bravo won also but I didn't see it, I saw Grady come back and throw alot more punches than Bravo. I like Bravo he is a great fighter, but you need to rewind your TIVO and maybe add the Sugar Ray and open your eyes a little.

I got Bobbed
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn... that was fun!"

Bravo won only one round. The other rounds were close, but I have Grady winning rounds 2-3-4-5. Sorry pcboy but you are wrong.
