"Grey's Anatomy...another ER??"

this show is a lot like ER, but different. it has a comedy edge to it, but not like scrubs.

And gotta love Patrick Dempsey...too cute.

It's a lot quirkier than ER with more humor. It's also built around a cenral character, unlike ER.

meredith right? there's something about her mouth that makes me think she has or had a lisp. i don't know why. but it's something good to watch after desparate housewives...

I like this show too, and agree it is something fun to watch after Desperate Housewives. I think it is kind of funny that it employs the same sort of voiceover commentary of scattered observations at the end of the show as Desperate does. Even their voices sound similar.

I like shows with a strong supporting cast ensemble.

I don't know about another ER-very different tone-maybe like a combo though of ER and scrubs.

Other than the hospital setting, so far I don't think it bares much semblance to "ER."

If anything, so far I'd describe it as an updated hour-long 20/30-something female version of "Doogie Howser, MD."

And heck, if you're a first-time TV show creator like "Grey's" Shonda Rhimes who is looking for an old forgotten show for "inspiration," you could do far worse than one created by Steven Bochco and David E. Kelley

The hospital setting alone is what makes it comparable to ER. Some people don't get past that. However, I totally agree with you that other than that, it's a completely different show. As different as "Lost" is to "Gilligan's Island".

I'm loving the show already!

I'm not much of an ER fan so I don't see it as being much like ER. I love the comedy edge to it. I'd be happier if it was in an earlier timespot though. Sunday night's are usually early to bed nights for me. Guess I'll have to dust off the VCR.

I really like this show. I watched it since the pilot and haven't miss any episode. I like the time slot it's in after Desparate Housewives. I get to watch 2 hours of entertaining shows.

Could you (or anyone) tell me if the tumor lady survived the surgery? How about the father who needed brain surgery? The kings game cut into out Tivo recording time...we were so bummed! Thanks...

The tumor lady didn't survive. She died on the table.
The guy who needed surgery had it and it was successful.

This show has really grown on me. I became a Patrick Dempsey fan when he played the brother on "Once and Again", and it's great to see him week after week again.

And Christina and her doctor...I like that pairing.

Watched an episode, and I'm struck by the fact that this show is nothing more than St. Elsewhere on Viagra.

Clearly ER is nearing the end of it's run and Grey's Anatomy (cheesey name anyone?) is positioning itself to fill that void when it happens.

Didn't see much to crow about with this one.
Just more of the same old, same old.

I like House better. Much like the competition between ER and Chicago I can see this turning into one between Grey's and house.

And much like I loved Chicago Hope and not ER I figure my love of House will eventually lead to a flatline on this one.

Grey's Anatomy is such a cheesey name that I almost didn't watch the show. Even though I generally like puns and don't consider them the lowest form of humor (that's knock-knock jokes), the show's name made me groan the first few times I saw it. But I love the show. Christina's Dr. is HOT!

Is the season finale this sunday?

"RE: ...another ER?? Not quite."

yes, i have been watching from the beginning. and this sunday coming is the season finale. apparantly, something happens to meredith because her doctor lover says "i am sorry" and it just seems like something happens to her doctor status or she did something to ruin her status. i am just guessing though.

I thought maybe the season finale twist has to do with her mom...we haven't seen/heard a lot from her lately, but they made a big deal of her signing the Will..

I like Grey's Anatomy, but I think I'm going to switch to HBO's new show The Comeback...looks interesting.

Maybe I'll tape Grey's Anatomy to watch later in the week.

Don't worry Huckleberry...they just had the season finale so you won't have to choose.

I thought Grey's Anatomy is the name of a medical reference book, so it has a double meaning. I'm sure they gave Meredith the last name Grey after the book.

Yeah, Grey's Anatomy is the Medical Reference book that all med students use...and it's def. a double entendre, but I think it works well...I love it!

I never could get into ER. But I like Grey's Anatomy. I really hope they add more drama. I'm not that crazy about the drama/comedy thing. But it's a good show. I'll watch season 2.
