"Jane's getting serious"

Early Show host and softball tosser Jane Clayson will be leaving that show September 27 to work at the CBS Evening News as a reporter, and will be an occasional contributor for other CBS news broadcasts.

You can read the article here and here.

I assume it's a promotion for her, getting away from interviewing CBS reality show losers, and getting a chance to interview some REAL newsmakers. Good luck Jane.

So... if Jane's not going to be interviewing our eliminated contestants, then who will?

Hmm....possibly Tom Bergeron (Sp?) from Hollywood Squares, maybe Leslie Visser, or whatever her name is....or how about the fat Al Roker clone?

I read somewhere that they might get Deborah Norville. I'll post the link if I can find the source again.

I read that too. I also read somewhere it might be Hannah Storm who is currently doing NBC Sports. Since they aren't doing basketball anymore she probably needs a job.

Aloof...bizarre...sarcastic...volatile...he is a CAT after all!

Actually their top choices are Harry Smith and Deborah Norville, BUT, they do feel that both have been in this position before and did not make a big impact.

Hannah Storm, was guest host already, but she always said she did not want that job. Leslie Visser said the same. These two are self-named "sports gals" and don't really want to leave their fields.

The show's producers are trying to get hard news people, with recognizable faces (the former is the reason why Tom Bergeron most likely won't get it), but they have no clue as off right now.

As for Rosie being gone, don't know is Caroline Rhea will continue doing the interviews, she might, but the couple of shows I have seen, I don't think she has been that funny. I loved her on Hollywood Squares though. I do think she is trying to stay close to what Rosie did, so she might interview the losers and give away prices.

Good news Katem!
"so she might interview the losers and give away prices."

I would have loved to have known the prices to purchase time with a few past TAR men!

Ah Blake, so innocent, so into your sister. I could have changed you!

Rhea is continuing the Rosie tradition of interviewing Survivor losers, so she could do TAR interviews also, I guess...although I'm sure someone on the Early Show will get stuck with the job.

The network confirmed Monday it had reassigned Jane Clayson, who has juggled a series of guest co-hosts at the third-rated news show ever since Bryant Gumbel departed on May 17.

Clayson will stay with CBS as a correspondent and a substitute anchor for the "CBS Evening News" and a contributor to the newsmagazine, "48 Hours Investigates."

A CBS spokeswoman would not comment about why the network was not keeping Clayson on the morning.

Clayson, a Sacramento, Calif., native, is a 1990 Brigham Young University graduate. Clayson anchored and reported for KSL-TV in Salt Lake City from 1990 to 1996.

"Programmers make changes and that's their prerogative," Clayson said. "I wouldn't change a moment of the last three years and I'm excited to move on."
