Please keep all sigpic-free discussion of The Dawning Of The Red Light on this thread until ABC can find a way to turn it into another cross-series promotion. Which will probably have something to do with Lost. (Doesn't everything?)

Oh, and prepare for filler. Just in case.

Filler? Yeah, a bit. But another chance to see Apolo Anton Hottie is worth wading through the filler!

"Drink of the night"

Brought over from the Idol forum
Drink of the night

Mint Julep - mint, Bourbon, sugar and water over ice in a tall glass..... served on the gazebo, a lovely fan with soft music in the background as the light spring wind softly blows my frilly summer dress.

Not much Bourbon left .... plenty of water, though.

Not sure how many weeks that first season was.

Every year they usually allow lifts in the freestyle round.

Interesting that the top 3 in the judges' picks didn't even win their respective seasons. I was kind of bummed that they picked Mario & Karina's tango as number one. There have been plenty of better 30's over the years. And seeing Kelly & Alec's 30 from season one had me lmao because of all the mistakes. Anyone notice how many times Kelly just stopped, looked at Alec, figured out where she should be, and started dancing again?

Also, I can't remember and am too lazy to go look it up, but does anyone remember what Drew & Cheryl got for their paso doble set to "Thriller?" That's still my favorite dance from any season and I was surprised to see the "Save A Horse" freestyle chosen over that one.

"RE: Number 1"

Keep in mind that Kelly danced like 5 years ago... I'm sure she hasn't done much to keep the moves she learned back then. I would expect her to be a little less prepared, and she probably doesn't have all kinds of time to rehearse.

I personally would've loved to see Stacy's jive and mambo. I don't know if they got 30s, but she was awesome. Best Jive so far.

I think the reason why other dances didn't get picked is because they just picked one per couple. It's too bad, but it's fair.

"RE: Number 1"
Posted by StarryLuna on 05-07-08 at 05:58 PM
They didn't dance the routines live, they played back the video clips from the original dance. So the clip they showed of Kelly & Alec was from 3 or 4 years ago.

Place witty comment here.

Ya, I actually had only seen stacy and the results, but i thought it was live. Sorry.

That wasn't from her original perfomance unless her strap broke. I think that was from the rematch, but i'm probably wrong.

I am shocked that it was not Apollo & Julianne's Samba routine to "Move It" where Julianne wore the leopard skin outfit. It didn't even make the list???

"RE: Number 1"

I can't remember Apolo's dance partner, either!! He he...

Hey, why no mention of the famous (infamous) "Star Wars" whatever the heck dance that was, by Joey Fatone and whoever HIS partner was?? Kym, I think??

I STILL have nightmares of him in that creepy suit with that lazer pointing at me.......

I think I can do one better -- at DD's ballet recital last night, there was a Star Wars number and the storm troopers were en pointe. *shudder*

"Excellent!"

Thank you vince, that was great - I'm so glad you recapped.

Then we had a recarp of last night's dances......

Tonight, Rascal Flatts will sing (provided they escaped the AI studios.......), Mario Lopez will dance with the Broadway cast of A Chorus Line, as well as new routines by Mel B. and Maksim, and Apollo Anton Ohno and Julianne!

Plus, we got treated to a highlight of Emmit's "Can't Touch This" dance from Season 3........

Lots of lifts and spins, crazy. Apolo looked good, but I wonder how much practice time they got in. when did they tell them they would perform?

M & M yummy, yummy yummy. I could feel their joy of dancing again coming through the screen. I'd pay to see that again.

Of course, Maks could make me write bad checks. Damn!

Again, Karina is the kiss of death. Too bad, Mario was good.

Looks like a woman is slated to win this season.

That's a shame. Enjoyed watching Mario-good to see a fresh, young face for a change. Karina? Not so much...
