Please keep all sigpic-free discussion of the dance disaster which will eventually lead to the Most Shocking Elimination Of The Season on this thread until the West Coast gets to find out just what that is. Which would technically be tomorrow, but I've had a really long day and there's only so much I'm going to try and do with that sentence.

We kind of have to get a shocking elimination eventually, right?

Okay, I may need really good recaps tonight because I have a hunch DWTS will be preempted here by my local news covering the tornadoes that hit a few hours ago. No damage here, thank goodness, but they were not so lucky about 20-25 miles away in Suffolk.

Shirley Temples all around, then?

They wanted to card me for ordering one of those when I was about 13 years old. Poor kid waiting on us had never heard of one, and thought it was alcoholic.

LMAO I had one of those with dinner tonight. My mother and sister were drinking wine coolers and DH was drinking a beer. I found a bottle of grenadine in the back of the fridge so I said screw it, I'll have a drink too.

Crap -- I can't remember the name of that song, tho' we dance to it often. I am surprised that was chosen for a ballroom tango. Props to Tony for pulling that off. Very difficult music to do staccato moves to.

"RE: Marissa and Tony"
Posted by Sagebrush Dan on 04-29-08 at 01:40 AM
I was thinking of you when they did that song. It seemed like an authentic tango piece.

"Cristian and Cheryl"
Posted by vince3 on 04-28-08 at 08:14 PM
They're doing the Viennese Waltz and the Samba.

Cristian gave names to some of the Samba moves so he can remember. However, in the Waltz he's gotta treat Cheryl like a Princess........ just like his daughter.

"RE: Cristian and Cheryl"

Somehow the opening strains of "I'll Make Love To You" just gave me the ickies after talking about treating Cheryl like his daughter in the intro clip.

Unfortunate editing.

Waltz Scores: 8~8~9 for 25......

"Kristi and Mark"

They're the first to score the perfect 30

They got the Viennese Waltz and the Cha Cha.

Uh-oh, Kristi takes Mark to her home, the ice rink........ and he gets an ice shower!

Yep. I thought this was their best. They've been ragging on Kristi for weeks about showing emotion. She totally connected and I thought was pretty flawless.

Waltz scores: 9~8~9 for 26 (their lowest score to date!)

"Mario and Karina"

Last week, they got their highest ever score, but they were in the bottom 2......

He's gotta learn the Fox Trot and the Mambo. But he's also learning the choreography for his music video....... brain fry!

I think Len got it when he said Mario's a good dancer but he dances loosely. Hip-hop training does not help you in ballroom.

Fox Trot Scores: 8~8~8 for 24.

Dancing the Tango to insturmental Tango music.

"RE: Shannon and Derek"

Yeah, the music bugged me. I actually though the dance was kind of stiff, compared to some of their other dances, but I guess the judges know better.

"RE: Shannon and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 04-28-08 at 08:43 PM

Besides the double dances this week, there were rumors that he was gonna be traded on NFL Draft weekend (didn't happen.....)

They're doing the Quickstep and the Paso Doble this week.

I rewound and it didn't seem like he did anything to pull it during the dance, but for the second half of the dance his arm was kind of just hanging there. Poor guy - it was actually a pretty good dance.

"RE: Cristian and Cheryl"
Posted by Ahtumbreez on 04-28-08 at 09:15 PM
He was making my mouth water up until that point.

aw-oh Some others may be planning on an injury knowing they only judge to the point of injury.
Though to the point of injury I thought they were better than 7's.

"RE: Cristian and Cheryl"

Sounds like it was a muscle cramp.

Waltz score: 25

"RE: Cristian and Cheryl"

From People.com Update

Still, he put on a strong showing. Seconds after hurting himself, the actor faced the judges, insisting “I’m fine,” and clutched his arm in obvious pain before going to commercial break. During the dance he had tried to shake off the injury, but he pulled back from lifting his pro partner Cheryl Burke off the floor.

“When we were dancing I fell back into his arms and I heard something crack,” Burke told PEOPLE between tears after the show. “I am so worried. He is not a wuss. He tried to finish the dance.”

"RE: Cristian and Cheryl"
Posted by carmaj0530 on 04-29-08 at 10:19 AM
I watched again and it looks like when they were on the opposite side of the dance floor from Tom, doing that hold, twirl & swoop thing (don't know what the actual move is called sorry ) that he pulled something then because after that his left arm seems not quite right.

"RE: Cristian and Cheryl"
Posted by Karchita on 04-29-08 at 06:50 PM
Sometimes what people call a 'pulled' muscle is really a 'torn' muscle. I wasn't watching when it happened, but if tore his muscle, that hurts like heck. I did that to my calf once and was in unbelievable pain when it happened and on crutches for six weeks. It was a season-ending injury for me and I would bet it is for Christian, too, if that is what he did.

I didn't see the hips that Len saw! There's a connection missing between brain and muscle when she's doing the fast dances. I think she's gorgeously, graceful during waltzes and slower dances.

"RE: Shannon and Derek"
