One of the designers said that many stars have unrealistic ideas about their body type and the type of costumes they would be able to wear... and the designers have to be diplimatic when talking to the stars.about figure flaws, and the designers have to figure out how to cover up figure flaws.

After the designers talk to the stars about the cosutmes for the next show, there's a mad rush to buy fabric and sequins.

All of the costumes are one piece. Even the fishnet stockings are sewn on to the costumes.

Each costume is worth 3,000 to 5,000 dollars. The stars don't get to keep their costumes. Sometimes the costumes are re-used when they go on tour.

The segment only was a few minutes. I would have liked seeing a more in-depth segment.

PBS shows the pro dancing contests where there are details about the costumes as well. They showed an interesting bit about the specially constructed high heels the women wear, complete with steel posts that keep the heel attached to the shoe. In spite of all that, the high heeled shoes last only a few weeks.

And the shoes have a steel shank for extra strength and support.

Thanks!

You mean the GAWD-AWFUL costumes are actually the celeb's fault? I would love to know how much input the celebs and the pros have.
