Well, to me, it appears that this pic was taken in an actual nail salon. In my opinion, it is definitely NOT Christie applying the polish...take a look at the leg of the girl in the pic...not fat enough to be Christie's.

So, here's Christie pitching a sob story to solicit donations, and making a charity case out of Cain, but apparently Christie has enough money to waste on a professional pedicure for a 12 year old boy? I wouldn't encourage this type of thing, and frankly, the subject never came up when my 21 year-old son was twelve (or any other age). But if I was responsible for a kid who got silly and painted his toenails, I'd hand him a bottle of nailpolish remover and some cotton, and tell him to listen up. I'd tell him what could happen if he forgot to remove the polish and one of the guys at school happened to notice his toenails in the locker room after PE. That could make the hell of junior high school twice as hellish.

But what really concerns me is Christie's lack of good judgment. Why did she find it necessary to put that kind of photo of her brother on the internet. What is she thinking? IS she thinking...about anyone besides herself?

Christie's new web site makes the claim that she has had extensive background in family services and she calls herself a Family Specialist who has had experience in the support and advocacy of people in need. Given Christie's long history of substance abuse, her incredible selfishness, and the personal qualities we saw her display on SO, I find it difficult, if not impossible, to believe that this woman was ever a "Family Specialist".

I googled "Family Specialist", and I looked at the first FS position listed on an employment site. This was a position with a non-profit organization. A Family Specialist should have a bachelor's degree in a related field and she makes $21-28K/year. The responsibilities of the position include: "provide intake and interview of clients, assessment of needs, homestudy, placement, post-placement with foster or adoptive parents, teach life skills, crisis intervention, coordinate community services, physical intervention, and participate in treatment plans and implementations. The candidate should be able to work in a fast- paced environment of growth and change." I'm surprised that Christie wasn't called upon to mediate the Cassie/Dustin meeting. She would have had so much to offer with this background...right?

I almost forgot the kicker! The candidate must have strong writing skills, and a sample of the candidates's writing must be submitted as a part of the interview.

We watched Christie pushed to her limit when she was asked to plan a "pre-planned" (all supporters set up in advance) 5K. She had support from everything with two legs. Left to her own, the pressure of that responsibility would have done her in. As recall, she didn't know the difference between an itinerary and a to-do list. How is that possible? I see no evidence that she would ever be able to work in a fast-paced environment of growth and change. Actually, I see evidence to the contrary.

The saddest thing is that Cain is going to hear a lot of speeches throughout his teenage years. Most of them will start with the opening line, "Cain, I just don't feel like you're supporting me......."

I was going by the hair and the "style" of the photography between the couch and chair photos to deduce it was Piss-T.

I'll fold my knuckles before I type something that I might regret. But, I have to ask? Does Cain look like he's blushing? I mean, red-faced embarrassed? I think that Cain might be enjoying all the attention he's been getting from his older sisters lately. If he's no longer with his mother, he might be going through the "honeymoon" phase of his new relationship with Christie. However, as he gets older, goes to school and makes new friends (kids his age will do anything that might annoy the elders, including painting the toenails, but a pedicure might be a little far-fetched... but I digress), he will start to have conflicts with Christie. I wish I could be a fly on the wall then to see who would step in to mediate between this so-called "Family Specialist" and the minor without a lawyer.

The nail polish looks black to me. I may be wrong as I don't run with this crowd, but boys and men do paint their nails black for the Goth look.

My thought exactly! Teens like black. My son wanted to paint his room black when he was about 12. Of course I said no, but we did go with a steel grey. His father had a black room at one time as a teen also. Lots of teens, boys and girls, put on black polish...it's just a fad.

I'm with you Labyrinth & BlingBlong. I don't really see anything wrong with it. Painting a 12 year old boys nails black would not be my personal preferece, but he looks happy & healthy and excited to have it done. So let him. More than likely some other kids will start to tease him and that will be the end of polished toes for him. I don't see Christie as being so dispicable for allowing him to explore his own style, especually with something non-permanent.

More men should get into pedicures I might add!!! Let's start them off early. I have to damn near tie my BF down to the chair to do his pedicure, but we do skip the polish!

Good point, thanks for making the distinction. I know exactly what you're talking about. I've seen the Goths - they're everywhere: (ever see the South Park version of the Goth kids? - too funny...) the black fingernails, black clothing, black hair, black eye make-up, and black fingernails. The super devoted Goths even use black lipstick. They apply as much black to their bodies as possible - it's their uniform.

But Cain isn't a Goth. First of all, he's smiling. That's a Goth no-no. Then there's the clothing - he's wearing A&F or a super-store knock-off. And the hair? No buzzcuts for Goths, lol.

I've got a friend - a very successful financial adviser and CPA. He's in his late 40's, and he's an all American businessman. Recently, while waiting for his wife at a nail salon, one of the employees talked him into getting a pedicure. He said it was an incredibly relaxing experience - he's hooked. But I have to admit, he didn't get his toes painted, LOL. At least I don't think he did -- but he never took his socks off...

LOL! Just got back from the mall. Hubby is taking the week off and the mall actually wasn't too crowded! amazing as this place is so packed I haven't gone in 3 years and it's only one mile away...

I started taking my kids (boys and girls) for a pedicure when they hit high school. Someone needs to show them (especially the boys) how to take good care of their feet. Now we didn't do the polish thing for the boys, but they did learn the correct way to trim their nails, etc. My husband periodically sees a podiatrist and he was very glad we started healthy foot habits for the kids, so my vote is FOR boys getting pedicures. Who wants to look at nasty feet??

I'm guessing Christie and Cain do NOT have the same father, first off given Cain's darker hair. That would also imply that Christie's mother had been stable at least for the age difference between Christie and Cain - like 20-yrs. (wow, there's a 20-yr age difference between the two). Boy, Christie's mother really messed things up.

For Christie, it's all about raising Cain. But in reality, it'll likely be Cain raising Christie.

If you're begging for money from the public, why on earth would you post a picture like this??? I don't know if money was exchanged here, but I think the money could have been spent on better things. I don't see anything wrong with giving a boy a pedicure. I give my two boys (6 and 9)and husband pedicures and manicures once a month but I skip the colored polish. OPI nailpolish offers a matte clear. There is no way I would use color. I have seen Keanu Reeves in the gossip magazines with black nail polish on his toes maybe its becoming the popular thing. I am not trying to raise metro sexuals just men that take care of themselves.

I once sold Avon when they had a line of metallic polishes. I was in a kitchen selling the old-fashioned way, demonstrating products to a housewife and her teenage boy and his friends walked in and said "cool, can we try that?!" The mom was appalled. I was mildly amused because I've seen guys wearing gunmetal grey polish to look cool, rocker, whatever, not always goth (but often goth).

The mom was flabbergasted trying to draw the lines "but it's NAIL POLISH!" The boys wanted to try it anyway. She reacted like a mom. She wasn't being a best friend trying the lastest trend or trying to be cool with her kids.

I understand why some parents decide to let kids try the variety of styles and when I've heard it explained it's within the framework of a family where there are other boundaries. The kid is still doing everything else with respect, getting good grades, etc.

Christie is just starting to intervene with Cain. Using MySpace(even just for herself), posting a minors pictures on it, being broke but spending money on pedicures to try to make him look "cool" ... none of these sound like she miraculously developed any maturity, authority, or parenting skills.

Maybe Chrustie (being the diva and model she thinks she is in her head) felt guilty getting her nails done alone so she figured she better get Cain's done too. It would in her mind justify her getting it done and make her look like a good caregiver. My feeling is she doesn't have the money for it, could have used to money to support themselves and buy food etc and she could have painted his nails black at home.
