"A little smile for today!"

We all need a little something to make us smile today-I sent my 4 year old to preschool this morning wearing ear-protectors (that my husband used in the air force as a bomb specialist), a "Bob the Builder" tool belt, complete with all tools, and cowboy boots. This was not a dress up day to practice for Halloween-he just chose to wear this today. It was such a little thing, such a simple request, that I just smiled, helped him into the car (after taking his picture) and thanked God that I was able to both be there to see him and give him a little control over his young life in these disturbing days. So just picture a little boy with blond curls, big brown eyes and all of his "equipment" and smile. Enjoy this small bit of innocence, it is so precious.

Thanks, Goldie.

Both of my boys have been my beacons these past few days. My almost-three-year-old is the same usual terror he usually is, and continues to make me crack up (even when I should be wearing a disciplinary face, alas). And my almost-five-month-old just keeps getting more and more interesting, still kicking and shrieking with delight, and getting more and more frustrated that he can't motor himself around. Will be crawling any moment, I swear.

Thank you so much for posting this Goldielocks...and welcome to the boards! I, like LadyT posted in another thresd am having a hard time smiling. I feel guilty, knowing that so many other people are suffering. This did bring a smile to my face...thank you. I don't have any children of my own, but I do have a niece and nephew that constantly bring joy into my life.
I love that you let him wear what he wanted too. Too often in life parents fight with their kids over trivial things. I believe clothes (everyday clothes--not "getting dressed up to go to church" clothes) are a fight that doesn't need to be fought.
You sound like a terrific mom Goldie...I hope that when I have kids someday that I can be as terrific as you.

yup! You painted quite a vivid picture Goldie - you do sound like an awesome mom! Hope he enjoyed his day. Give him a pooh bear hug.

And since I will gladly take any opportunity to brag: McKenna has now added the words "that," "apple", "recess" and "Dan" to her reading repetoire. I'll keep all y'all posted.
