We in the U.S. are faced with a dilemma: We're glad Europeans, Aussies and Kiwis are enjoying the show. On the other hand, we're afraid that you think the adventures of these selfish, arrogant lunatics represent all Americans.

What has Parasite Hotel taught you about the United States?

Hi to all P H fans worldwide from the uk!
Amy and Toni made me think that american girls were obsessed with their hair and make up and ignored their bodies! They also reminded me that foul- mouthed girls are hugely unattractive! Zack reminded me of subnormal intelligence 'jock' stereotypes in college movies. Poor Dave blew out the myth that any guy can go with beatiful girls!

But with every tv series worldwide the extremes of society are selected becuase it makes great tv!! I also thought the tv producers were bang out of order in some of the mindgames they played on the guests to provoke extreme behaviour.

Almost all americans i have met are really friendly people-(i am a doorman at a WILD club in london and have seen all nationalities at their worst!)-still, that said, i would love for Zack to try to get into our club!!

Can't wait for series 2 ---if it is happening???

Well, when I first watched the show I thought the contestants were immature, stupid, shallow, and did I say unbelievably stupid? But then I got to know them and I found out that they were simply insane! I thought they were actors, no normal person can behave in such a manner...

The episode when the originals came back is an absolute classic to show people's capacity to hate for the silliest reasons and the power people think they have when they are in a group. This is something I can understand (I'm from Europe after all)! So no worries, stupidity reaches across borders.

Btw a new episode awaits me tonight at 10. Great!

Yes, I've read a couple of the reviews here (from Angelfood mostly). They are hilarious and increased my pleasure in watching the show by at least 50%.

Angelfood definitely led the charge on P-Hotel along with Chrissy Gal, CantStandToLook and myself.

Here's a link to an "unofficial" summary I wrote. (post #21)
Hope you enjoy it.

Thanx RollDdice, I've already read it, very funny indeed! Did you do more reviews? It feels like there were less commentaries nearing the end of the show, am I right?

I did that one "unofficial" and then came over to OT when Pair-of-Dice Hotel ended. No summaries from me since.

The summary that brought me over to RTW was written by Shakes the Clown and covered episodes 1 and 2. After that I was hooked on these boards!

Do you know, If i'm honest...i don't think it's done America's reputation much good! ;) Seriously - No, of course, i don't think people would really judge a nation on this group of people..... but George Bush doesn't help your cause much !!!

I love this show, what i am amazed at is the behaviour of people when the "originals" went back in, i really can't believe people would be so bitchy and think it was coming over ok on the outside- What tapes had Zack been watching to think that Amy was coming over ok, that people loved her!!!

I like the other poster earlier would love to see the follow up on thier relationship....has she forgotten how he reacted in the first show???

We are down to our last two shows....i'm gonna miss it so much...

One last thing.... nice to see Amanda Byram doing so well!

Welcome Pumbaa! I am STILL amazed at the behavior of the "originals". They didn't even change their stories after the show was over. I think they were chosen because they are delusional.

One last thing.... nice to see Amanda Byram doing so well!

Amanda is hosting a new show called "The Swan" about women who have complete plastic surgery make-overs and then compete in a beauty pageant. Here is a link, click on "Host" to see something about Amanda:

I think Amanda Byram was a good host for P-Ho. Given her live TV interview experience, she was able to roll with the punches and ask good questions.

I hope she's still involved with P-Ho 2.

Hi,

Thanks for that....

Where there any follow up shows after then?

Do these people go on to have any sort of media career in the media, like many of the people who do shows like this in the UK?

What's the story with that mad one.....Toni? She's on everything isn't she?

No fame for any of this group; most of them are just too despicable. I'm sure Toni will pop-up on TV somewhere again. She just loves the spotlight, even if it burns her.

We in Canada were subjected to the vileness that was Paradise Hotel at the same time that the Americans were. It is my belief that Canadians have not judged the American people as a whole based upon this television show. I do, however, have it upon very good authority that Canada refrained from participating in the Iraq war specifically because of Paradise Hotel.

We only got the show tonight where Zak comes back with the others. If I was Keith I would have baited him to hit me and sued the producers for millions. I was disgusted that the producers invited back people that had watched the show and came back telling everything others had done and said. I sat watching my tv in disgust. Ive worked doors for years as well and was undefeated as a pro kickboxer and I would have personally put Zak back off the show unless they wanted to call it Paradise Hospital. They ruined what is meant to be a game show. I was fuming watching it and still am now as you can guess... and I am a friendly guy... re my name on here. cheers from Australia

Welcome Happy!

I was so upset by the episodes where the originals returned, I couldn't watch. I just kept up with what was happening by reading the updates on this board. Things get a little worse before they get better, but the show gets back on track soon.

At one point Charla got so depressed, that I was really worried about her even though I knew that the show wasn't happening in "real time".

As far as the threats from Zack, you should have seen how many posts there were on this board of guys who wanted to find Zack and take care of him for Keith (even a few women who figured they could take on Zack and beat him)! Fortunately, nobody got hurt.

"The Australian Perspective"
Posted by TRBB on 04-26-04 at 11:16 AM
Well, I was really interested in who the American fans sided with.

In Australia most people hated those originals because they were stupid, immature and felt that everyone should just let them stay at their own expense.

Zack however claimed that everybody in America saw it from Amy's point of view which I thought was a bit whacked. If I were Keith I dont know how I couldve put up with Zack.

Also, like the other Aussie fan we only just saw the invasions of the voted out people episode. I wouldve felt so cheated if I were Dave and the others. They worked so hard to get the psychotics outta the place and now they all come back in.

So, yeah, the series made Americans look pretty bad even though our game shows, not mentioning names, *cough* "The Resort" *cough* made Aussies look just as bad.

With regards to Toni being on other TV shows, that is true. I saw her on some random Love Boat show.

To sum it up, the people on Paradise Hotel looked like nutcases. So much hate over so little.

"RE: The Australian Perspective"

Are you talking about the prize for PH or the prize for The Resort.

The Resort was that they got to own The Resort and work in it.

PH was money. $250000 or something like that. Not really sure but the cash payouts in American gameshows absolutely destroy those of Australian gameshows.

"P-Ho rules and prizes"

On Pair-of-dice Hotel they were always very vague about what everyone was playing for. They just kept saying it was a "fabulous" prize.

The other maddening thing is the way the rules were always being manipulated or twisted. I took on my RollDdice screen name because that's how I believe they establish the rules for this contest.

Spoiled brats + alcohol + isolation = fun fun fun!

Well, I was really interested in who the American fans sided with.

Unfortunately, Zack and Amy did have some fans. Mostly teenage girls who thought that Zack was good looking and Amy was wonderful. They thought that Keith was the bad guy for "breaking up" their love affair.

The rest of the Americans and Canadians who watched the show (including the more intelligent teenagers) thought that Zack was ugly and stupid, Amy was a needy b*tch, Toni was a psycho man with fake breasts.... and that Keith was a hero, and Dave was a goofy smart guy. Charla and Tara got mixed reviews.

To sum it up, the people on Paradise Hotel looked like nutcases. So much hate over so little.

You got that right! Zack and his buddies are delusional! Beau was back home and saw what an idiot he had been and still went back on the show and acted like just as big of an idiot. Toni takes so many steroids, she can't think straight.

"RE: The Australian Perspective"
Posted by TRBB on 04-26-04 at 12:47 PM
Well said,

Good to see that Keith was the hero. He was the only person who truely stood up for people without brain deficiences. Dave was great although he tried to fit in with the EVIL people sometimes. Tara and Charla mixed reviews is fair enough.

I dont know what more to add to the rest. They were, as mentioned before, loonies! God knows where they find these people. The first couple of episodes before the originals started getting booted I was thinking, "What the hell, how can people cheer for these whackos!"

Anyway, I dont want to know how but it is good to see that GOOD triumphs in the end. Although Charla screws over Dave and Keith wasnt in the final four?

Dont spoil it but I think that the series will get better for me soon. PS. I am at the bit where all those bitchy originals come back.

By the way, does anyone know where I could get copies of post-show interviews because I would love to see what some people thought of their behaviour. MORONS. ;)

So much hate over so little

So true. The bitterness and Vendetta's (Toni is a psychopath, she must chew steroids like candy) were/are astounding.

Having said that, although I don't like to think of myself as the angry guy who shouts at the TV, this show got me so worked up it was ridiculous.

I spent a lot of time wanting to beat some sense into Zack, teach Alex not to pick on dave for having big ears (that was just mean, he looked like he was gonna cry) and sit Amy down and calmly explain why her whole life is sham, her behaviour appalling and hypocritical.

It's just a bunch of people I don't know on a tv program. So much hate over so little. True for the contestants and the fans.

I have only caught the final episode plus a couple before that here in the UK and have found the show to be compulsive viewing. I felt emabrassed for you all because I have taken vacation in the USA and have never met americans like some of the contestants on that show!

Toni appears to be some sort of deranged women who has more testosterone in her than a Rugby player! I've never seen a woman so aggressive and hateful and who makes it so clear to others that she detests them. Surely the name of the game is to be tactical (not stupid) and not let on who you hate so they cant predict who your gonna boot out?
I think Keith deserved to win. I didn't realise men got as jealous over rivals like girls sometimes do - the lads seemed to be preoccupied with their version of a pi****g contest! As for amy, she reminded me of one of those chacters in films like "never been kissed" were they have their little clique and make everyone elses life hell! In the final episode she made herself look so bitter by scowling all the time and barely managed a smile at the prospect of a trip to las vegas - her clique showed you up! They made americans look like jocks, bullying promqueens and attention seekers...It was still fun laughing at them though!!!

"RE: Foreign viewers - Do you judge Americans by P-Ho?"
Posted by Pumbaa on 04-29-04 at 02:24 PM
Blimey! Well we saw the final last night.....Keith was truely the only one who seemed to have a grasp on reality and what matters in life. What a great bloke! I hope he does really well in life. I thought Tara was ok to, she just played the game. . . . as i guess did Dave, but he had some funny ways of going about things...but Charla....She said she wouldn't have been there without him then...listens to her good suportive friend Toni!!!!!!!

I don't know.

I have to say, the crowning glory for me was that the "Jury" didn't seem to understand that even though they had the power to vote....they still had to give the money to the people they vowed to get off the show.....they were still so up themselves.

I so wanted Keith to make a final statement saying somthing like, "i have nothing to say except i don't care who you give it to, it just pleases me to know that whoever it is, it will be someone you don't want to give it to!"

Anyway... i will really miss this....does anyone know when you are getting the second season? When did it aire in the US?

I have had to start watching the mole now!

Thanks god for big brother UK witch is back here soon...and of course American Idol - well that is till the great voting public get rid of the only two other people who should be on the stage!

I don't think much of our population got to watch because it was aired on one of the extra chanels; but I don't think it helped in the promoting the American ideals. Although we get to watch the Jerry Springer show; which in my opinion defintily does not make a possitive statement.
I just want to say I know not all American's are like the originals of the show; the "new" comers (towards the end) were definitely not so crude and arrogant didn't give Americans a bad outlook. Keith rules (now you know who my favourite is)

More from the UK.

I've been to the US a couple of times and I've never met anyone as crazy as the Paradise Hotel lot. But I do think that the show wouldn't have worked in the UK. I'm sure we could have found as many mental people, but they would have been a more reserved kind of mad.

It was compulsive viewing. The selfishness, stupidity and complete lack of self-awareness of the 'originals'. They didn't seem to understand it was a game.

Toni, Kirsten and Amy plotted incessantly. They were just rubbish at it. It was like a John Hughes high school movie. Dave wasn't as funny as Anthony Michael Hall (and he didn't get the girl, despite using the patented John-Hughes-nerd 'stalker' technique), but otherwise . . . it had all the jocks and cliques you could want.

What it's taught me?

Some Americans have permenant mad boggly-eyed stares (Toni) and some react to all news by scrunching up their faces like a confused chipmunk (Charla).

So many things left me speechless. It was like they were actors. How could they watch themselves in tape, then come back and still not understand how they behaved? They were so deluded. When Toni said (ep.30) that one of the losers should be winning. Why? Is that really what public opinion in the US though? 'Cos my house had a different take on matters. If I met Toni, and she wasn't bigger and stronger than me, I'd kick her arse.

Or at the end when Holly asked Dave if he though his evil behaviour would help him. And he said it had got him to the final 4. And they booed him. He WAS still there, it did help him. It messed him up in the end, but he got further than they did. And he lost their friendship? Hardly a tragedy. And they hadn't let him in their Jock/Cheerleader clique anyway.

What I enjoyed most?

Any time Toni or Amy did or said anything hilariously hypocritical and/or deranged, carrying out personal vendettas against Keith and Dave, being bitter bad losers whilst seemingly believing themselves to be justified or honourable.

Amy asking if Keith thought he was God after he kicked Zack off. If that's why he thought he could make choices about who went and who stayed. I'm not sure, but I assume he thought he had that power because . . . he had that power. Although if God kicked Zack off I said well played.

Amy falling in love with Zack after he said he was disappointed in her because he felt he deserved someone more attractive. Now there's a girl with a lot of self-esteem who's a great judge of character.

What I would have liked to have seen?

Dave smack Alex in the face when Alex started taunting him about having big ears (you aren't in high school anymore). And I don't know why keith didn't respond to Zack's "I'll be waiting for you with 50 guys" threat with some simple truths.

1)Zack almost certainly does not have 50 friends.
2)It is highly unlikely he can count that high.

I don't think most Americans are like the Paradise Hotel guests, but for the sake of my TV (although not for the well being of the US) I think that, perhaps they ought to be.

Great post manicren!! To all of the posters who have shared their opinions with us, Thank You!!

I have missed Paradise Hotel so much and you guys have helped me remember the best parts.

Now, if you ever get a chance to see "Love Cruise" you have to see it. It was the predecessor to Paradise Hotel. It was not as good, but Toni was one of the stars.

Love Cruise aired in New Zealand a while ago, so couldn't believe that Toni would dare show her face on screen again! Since watching her YET AGAIN on telly as a guest on Paradise Hotel she really needs to just give it up! I wonder if she has seen this site and read what people think of her after seeing her wild rampages and scarey eyes. Maybe in hindsight she would have left our tv screens ... FORRREVERRRRR!!!

p.s. No - New Zealanders do not judge Americans by P-Ho. We had already formed our opinions from a combination of The Batchelor, Joe Millionaire, Temptation Island and America's next Top Model!!

p.s.s. The Apprentice is starting here next week - I'm getting scared!!

Toni definitely knows about this site. Michael from Love Cruise is a regular poster here and he wrote some summaries for both Love Cruise and Paradise Hotel. Quite a few of the contestants from Love Cruise came here when the show aired to see what we were all saying about them!

I really enjoyed The Apprentice! There were only 2 crazy people on that show (as opposed to a whole bunch on P-Ho), but it was still very good.

I became addicted to Parasite Hotel because it was a variety pack of crazies. From Testosterone Toni to Zed Zack, you never knew what any of them were going to say.

In a New York business setting, The Apprentice isn't that crazed, but there were moments.

(So, Chrissy... Omarossa is nutty, but who is your 2nd "crazy"?)

I would not worry about people judging Americans by PH. I love the show and realise that it is just that a show. We all have our own crack pots who love to share their mad ways with us through tv. You should see some of ours especially a guy called Millsy who was on Australian Idol and can't really sing but has a contract now simply because he spend a few days with Paris Hilton when she was in Australia.

I have traveled in Europe with Americans and even lived with a few for a short time and in that time only found 2 I didn't like. I have to say thought I would be more worried about what people think of Americans due to the war in Iraq and G Bush. We know you are not all like the Toni's and Zack's of the world (or the Bushes thank god). I will certainly miss my PH fix after it finishes.

I wouldn't get to worried about it... In Any country the people that go on those sort of reality shows are usually only there to try and become famous. So there not even acting like they ususally would.... How interesting would it be watching people that are just like everyone else. But i don't know if the so called 'originals' realise that they didn't come accross all friendly and fun. Just immature and rude. They always talk about treating everyone with respect... It must be really hard to practice what you preach in paradise..

not at all, am sure those arrogant lunatics aka foulmouth amy, easy kirstin, she-la toni, the four five year old studs ( (zack+anton+beau+alex) are reviewing themselves as an individual after seeing how they behaved in the show~ its really entertaining seeing there are really people like that out there, these bunch really project the high school bully type, ganging up on the *weak* or monority who do not conform, which happens every where...tv or worldwide...

Kiwi checking in here. I almost felt sick after watching the last couple of episodes of PH when the originals returned. It does make for good television but I'm still stunned by the immaturity and viciousness of these people.

Do I judge Americans by this TV show? Somewhat. Those originals do remind me of every movie I've ever seen about American high schools or college fraternities/sororities as some others have already said.

I wonder how these people were perceived by other Americans as I've noticed quite a few threads here stating "I love Zac and Amy or Toni or I hate Charla, Keith, Tara and Dave" which I almost couldn't believe. I also wonder what happened to these people in their real lives after the show. Where they embarrassed? Where they ostracised by their old friends or the general public? Was there any backlash at all? I would be really interested if anyone has any information on this.

I have heard that Amy is acting as George Bush's public relations advisor and Zac was looking after some prisoner's in Iraq !!!

I would never put Scott and dignity in the same sentence.

Hey don't worry! Personally, the personalities on the show do not speak nearly as badly for America as a certain somebody sitting in a big white house leading your country down the (blood-splattered) drain - but that's another topic entirely!

The show is full of muscle, bo*bs and good looks and couldn't be representative in any country! Could you imagine being surrounded by so many thick (yet temptingly attractive) people??! Uff!

Isn't Amanda Byram great? Brilliant advert of Irish people everywhere tee hee hee! Come back baby - we need you over here!

The Irish Tourist Board should put Amanda Byram on the payroll immediately. She says a lot with one look, and is able to react well to these lunatics.

Hey RollDice,

I wouldn't worry about it. Hopefully the wiewers know that the cast of P-Ho don't represent the rest of America!!

I hope you read this even though I'm responding kinda late

I would love to know one thing: What are they doing know? Have they been forgotten already?? Is it true that Amy and Zach are engaged?? And what about Scott and Holly?? I think that both couples were cute and I wish them all the best!!

Take care out there!

Hugs & kisses from The Great Dane

Hello Great Dane!

It was a treat to see a Pair-of-Dice message in my inbox. Although I miss the show, it's fun to see people around the world experiencing the same outrage we felt in the U.S.

After P-Ho ended there were some reports about Amy and Zach being seen together in Arizona. However, Paradise Hotel *never* got the respect a "Survivor" type show would get, so these folks were never on our major television interview shows.

They have mostly dropped back into obscurity and various mental hospitals.

Great Dane, please continue to post. I'll keep an eye out for you!

Hey there RollDdice!!

Thanx for having an eye out for me

Here in Denmark the show was just aired and not discussed in the media what so ever.. So naturally I'm a bit curious!! As far as I know the cast weren't even on Jay Leno, right?? Cause I have seen interviews with the Surviver cast and Joe Millionaire and some other shows..

I just thougt it would be cool if there was a reunion show

Dave and Charla - are they still friends?? Does she let him touch her bare skin, haha Man, I would have cut her of right there if I were Dave!!

Toni - excuse me!! She was a lot of fun that one!! And a good friend to Amy. So far she has been in Love Cruise and P-Ho right? Isn't it about time she find another show??

Amanda and Beau - what about those two?? They were also a cute couple!!

Well, gotta run!!

Take care and thanx RollDdice!!

Love Vanessa - a great Dane

The Paradise Hotel producers tried a similar show, but the ratings on that one tanked, so there are really no hopes for a Paradise Hotel 2... unfortunately.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Toni showed up on another reality show soon. She's a real DAW.

Cause I moved from the States 18 years ago and it would be fun to get in contact with some of the people from my old class
Without paying.. Everything costs money...

Tell me, can you only talk about P-Ho on this messageboard??

First of all, so sorry about not getting back to you sooner, but things have been busy.

If you'll look off to the left hand side of your screen, you'll see a whole new world! Each one of those show names is a link to a dedicated discussion board for that show. And... if you click on the link for "Off Topic", you'll find discussions about every topic under the sun... and a lot of interesting people just waiting for you.

Also, go to the Lobby and check for a waving red flag in the upper left-hand corner. That'll be me welcoming you with a PM (private message).

I just saw the last episode of PH here in Italy.
I don't think people would judge a nation on a little group of persons (but perhaps on his NOT good President… in my opinion).
Fortunately not all Americans are like Zack, Amy, Toni, ecc. Americans are also like Keith, Tara and Dave.
I think Keith is the best in the show. A real man, mature, sweet and generous. I like Americans like him!
Ciao a tutti dall’Italia. Kisses.

It's not quite good PR for the USA. But luckily there were a few intelligent, normal and nice persons in the show like Keith.
I think the group of Amy, Zack, Kristin and Toni were really the most disgusting and stupid people I've ever seen. They really need to see a psychiatrist for a very long time.

I've been traveling to the US many times and know that the group mentioned above doesn't represent all Americans (Thank god!).
