You beat me to it by about 3 minutes (if only my daughter napped 5 minutes longer...)! So, after all summer they now have a day to come up with a new name to announce tonight... should be an inspired choice!

I had heard the other Supernova group was planning on suing. I did at the time do a search and they have enough stuff out that they might have a case for it.

I think the show had already gotten going to where they probably couldn't force them to change the name of the show. They may be able to deal with this without really mentioning the lawsuit. A now we have a lead singer we will pick a name that suits having that person in it kinda thing.

Tommy and Dave sued months ago. It was on ShowBiz news on CNN. They are saying that Rockstar stole their name but, just like last year, the name goes after Rockstar so you know what band is auditioning performers. Seemed trite to me but it happened.

I wouldn't be surprised if the band never comes to be either.
I wouldn't pay a penny to see them, no matter who fronts the band. I would however, pay to see Storm.

I just read that the band will be using the name Rockstar:Supernova in order to get around the name conflict. This way the other band Supernova can't complain (with a legal basis, anyway), and can't get anything from them.

(I'll edit to add a link when I can - I read in an article from my ISP's entertainment section, so can't link to it. Just thought I'd put it out there, anyone else heard this?)

Personally I'm not thrilled. I realize they have a stake in people being familiar with the name, but somehow it just doesn't sit totally right.

There is a story about it on Canada's CBC website. They say the name is Rock Star SuperNova (three separate words).
