Silly enough, but there are a few of us interested in this show. So I thought I'd put this up and see who you expect to be out after the voting on this week's show. I don't know if it's better to vote now, or wait until seeing the performances tomorrow, then vote before Wednesday's show.

Ryan, Christina and Nikki are the three who appear at risk.

Without seeing their performances yet, I'll guess Christina.
-----
Now that I've seen it, I have to say I enjoyed Ryan the most of all 7 last night. She had the best song choice, and I love her husky voice, which goes great with her sexy style.

I didn't really enjoy anyone else that much. Even Tamyra and Kelly were rather dull. Justin is coasting and gave the most insincere apology ever. Nikki was a good as she could have been. Christina supposedly controlled her sheep-like bleating, but her singing still sounds like BAAA BAAA BAAA to me. And RJ truly is bland as can be. "Vanilla" would be an insult to the vanilla been. RJ has NO flava whatsoever.

I want to predict RJ to leave, but a girl must go. Popular sentiment seems to be that Ryan's out, but I'm sticking with Christina

If there is a music god anywhere, it'll be Jason. I can't stand that pukey smile he has and that retro Afro, especially on a White boy who actually had the nerve to have sang "Sunny" two weeks ago and wasn't booted Simply amazing.

But one must remember that the vast voting audience has to be girls between the age of 12-16. Given that, I'd say Nikki, unfortunately.

Well, this week's theme is the 70's. I think Nikki could really find a song that suits her from that decade, and that she has a chance to make a really strong performance.

Ryan Starr is my choice for tonight. She mouthed "I wanted to go home" to AJ last week as he was leaving. She is not the strongest singer by a long shot; she has absolutely no range.

It will come down to Ryan and her octave-too-low-because-she-has no-range voice, and Christina-her-vibrato-makes-her-sound-like-a-sheep.

I think Ryan will go tonight.

I think it's Ryan's turn to go, especially if she picks another bad song. She really forced it last week, and she just seems a bit childish at other times.

Back up choice at this time is Nikki. I would hate to see her go, but she has got to choose the right song this week. She can sing, but she has to make better song choices.

Justin's not going anywhere for a while - too many teenage girls watching and calling in. Actually, with the exception of last week, he has pushed all the right buttons with the audience.

Maybe she wears those arm things cause it makes her veins more accessible.

It's Ryan's turn. A girl has got to go sooner or later and her average voice, poor song selection, petulant attitude and comatose rantings make her the most likely one.

I have to agree with the group here Ryan is going, and that is a good thing, she's not very good.

I think Nikki learned her lesson a couple of weeks ago, she will work hard at finding just the right song for herself. Christina's Tweedy Bird voice is hard to take, but unfortunately the judges really like her, specially Simon who is in love with her.

I think Justin, if not a great singer, is smart enough to know that he is all style and last week's run in with Simon was not good for him. He will be in image control mood.

I have high expectations for Tamyra and Kelly, anything other than a grand slam by either of them is a disappointment.

====================================

Edited to add:

Saw last nights episode. The performances were OK. I thought that probably Tamyra took the night, with Kelly a close second and RJ a close third.

I still can't believe why Simon despises RJ. He keeps calling him boy band material, this from the man responsible for unleashing Westlife on the world. Besides RJ is one of the most inspired and spirited performers every week, he was great this week.

Justin, in my personal opinion, was the worst of the night. I did not like his singing at all. That boy keeps getting worse and worse by the week, but you know that he is getting all the phone calls.

His mea culpa moment with the judges seemed so fake to me. As I said above, the boy is smart and he needed to do it to get back into their good graces. Simon and Randy still took him down, even Paula was not melting at the sight of him.

Ryan was soooo much better, I liked her as well as Nikki and Christina (who looked spectacular and sounded exactly like Tweedy Bird.)

My choice to leave: Justin.
My prediction: Ryan.

Not to mention the audience. They certainly didn't seem as into his performance as previous weeks. Plus, the song choice wasn't very good. I agree with you that the apology was simply damage control. It may get him through the next couple of weeks, but Tamyra and Kelly both sang him off the stage last night.

I'm going to have to agree with Simon on RJ. I think if you put him on stage with three other guys, he's going to sell records. But he won't be able to carry it on his own. Just my opinion.

After watching the show, I still go with my original prediction of Ryan leaving after tonight.

I agree with what's been said. Ryan should go. She has a range of about five notes. And she looked so miserable the whole time she was on stage.

I wasn't in love with any of the performances. They were all ok, but nothing moving or inspiring or earth shaking.

I thought Kelly and Tamyra were the best as usual. Christina wins most improved. Justin wins biggest downhill slide. RJ wins the Stevie Wonder has job security award. The song he sang, is supposed to exciting and a bit wild. RJ is like a robot who is programmed to be the most inoffensive person in all of creation. His facial expressions range from happy to blank; he can't frown. It's simply not possible to be offended or angry at RJ. You might as well get angry at a bunny.

Nikki shouted at me when she was supposed to be singing and made my dog cry with that last high note. I think she will be the next lowest vote getter with Ryan.

OK, I'm sorry to offend all of you out there, but Justin needs to go. Here's my reasoning:

1. He gets worse every week. As a music guy, I was almost CRYING during his singing last night. It was, in the words of Simon (shiver) "absolutely dreadful"!
2. His fake apology. This was simply C.Y.A. damaage control to try to get some of his fans back. He might as well sing "I Want You Back" when it gets to "Bad 90's Boy Band Songs" week.
3. We need to break up his and Kelly's dating. If you haven't heard about this, look at the official boards on the "Justin Guarini" boards. Be surprised at Kelly's low standards.

Now, I don't think this will happen, but I wish it would. IMHO, the three most vulnerable in order from most to least:
1. Ryan Star (this is her porno name, her real name is TIFFANY, nice change for a "punk/rocker" eh?)
2. Christina I-Want-To-Hump-A-Lotta-Christian(s)
3. Nikky (look at me, I'm a momma!) McKibbin
OK, so there's the bottom three. Tamyra, RJ, and Kelly did a lot for me this week. Simon, if you're on this board, lay off RJ. Boy bands these days ARE American Idols, unfortunately, that may happen, especially if Justin goes before RJ (all those teenie-bopper girls need a guy to vote for). Well, there it is, from me =)

OK, what was up with Justin's apology last night? what did he do the week before? I don't know how I missed it but apparently I did.

First off, I thought everyone had an off night. No one blew me away. But since I'm sure y'all find my opinions fascinating, here's what I thought

Ryan: is it just me or was she totally behind the whole song? She did much better this week and she has an interesting voice, but she's no great shakes. Won't be sorry to see her go if that happens tonight.

Nikki: that was a great song for her - but that came out in the '70s? I could have sworn we sang that on the bus in junior high and I am not that old. I thought she did good enough to make it through. Her schtick is getting tired though. I'd like to see her do a rocky kinda ballad - like a Heart song or something, just to see if she could pull off a slower song better than what she did to "Ben"

Christina: the girl is just beautiful. Breathtaking. But she is so limited in her singing. Glad she lost the vibrato - that was totally annoying - and the judges were right for commending her for listening to them. But she has got to show some range - she's just not that strong of a singer.

Kelly she's my favorite - just cause she's so goofy and adorable - and has a goose pimply voice. The girl can sing. But I was underwhelmed last night by her - didn't really sell the song that well, but I just love that girl so it doesn't matter

Justin I so hope he doesn't win. Every week he gets worse. horrible song selection - not that good of a singer but holy - is he a hottie! He's charasmatic and just owns the stage when he's on it - unfortunately. he doesn't deserve to be on it anymore

RJ I feel about RJ the same way I feel about lukewarm tap water, melba toast and the sitcom Wings. Nice. Innoffensive. Unobtrusive. Devoid of flavor and originality. Nothing distinctive. Wouldn't notice if he disappeared for ever. The winner of this show shouldn't be bland. RJ defines bland. I rather watch a train wreck like Ryan than a tricycle like RJ.

Tamyra: she should win this thing (even though I'm hoping for Kelly) That little girl is a star. She cooks on slow and fast songs, looks like a superstar - struts on that stage like she belongs there. Adorable. Picks great songs that are familiar but not overly identifiable with the original artist. Love her!

OK - if Randy Johnson repeats the performers' name three times AGAIN - I will vomit. "Kelly, Kelly, Kelly" "Nikki,Nikki,Nikki" Oh...my...heck! I cannot stand it.

I think either RJ or Ryan will go tonight. I'd rather see RJ go, but I think he would start crying since he seemed on the verge of it last night) so I'll go with Ryan. Her nervous breakdown will be much more entertaining and not at all cringeworthy.

"Could Paula be anymore annoying?"

OK, what was up with Justin's apology last night? what did he do the week before? I don't know how I missed it but apparently I did.

Last week when Justin finished his song, the judges gave their criticism ending with Simon saying something to the effect that is was not a good song for him & he didn't sing it very well. Justin then said "I respect your opinion , but what did you guys think ". That to me was the equivalent of slapping Simon in the face. Simon only tells them the truth. There can only be 1 american idol in this competition & if their performance didn't merit the title he tells them.

Ryan: is it just me or was she totally behind the whole song?.

Nope, not just you. She was not keeping up to the music at all.

I know this has been said before, but I need to get this off my chest. Paula Abdul & her cheerleader attitude with everyone is so annoying. Find something critical to say. Yes they are all great singers (they would have gottem this far if they weren't), but they're not going to benefit without any criticism.

She reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Bart is put in a special ed class & they paly musical chairs with 5 more chairs than players. When everyone sits down when the music stops, the teacher says "Now everyone's a winner!"

I think Ryan will go.

On another foot, I came across a chat (msnlivechats) with Randy, Paula and Simon. Interestingly this is what Simon had to say about Justin : "If you can give it out (meaning Simon), you have to be able to take it. I just don't apologize later."

Also on the subject of talking back to him: (discussing AJ here) "He was hammered by me week after week and I didn't see an oz. of emotion. I've been waiting for him to say something back to me. He wouldn't have to scream at me but just once say something back."

Seems to me Simon may be fishing for some backbone with all the deragotory words he throws out.

Thank you Curious!!! I feel the same way about Paula. She can't even give a simple opinion. She said in an interview something to the effect of "I'm torn in my obligation as a judge. etc etc." yeah, Paula, that is why you've already jumped on the AI2 bandwagon.

"Justin's scare !!!!"
Posted by katem on 08-01-02 at 11:53 AM
Last night gave me hope that the audience will actually chose a worthy winner for this show. Justin's fall from grace was great to see.

He is clearly not the best of these bunch. Even RJ, who most people (including a lot of people here) don't like because he looks like the member of a boy band, has completely outsung him EVERY SINGLE WEEK !!!!

The golden boy fell from grace and I don't think he can get back. Kelly and Tamyra are running the show now, one of them will win this sucker and there is nothing Justin can do about it now.

The look on his face was priceless. Happy day

I agree with you that Kelly or Tamyra look like they're now in charge of this competition. The best Justin can hope for is probably third. One thing's for sure - whatever he sings next week will be more up-tempo. Do we know if they're singing '80's next week?

But in the end, I don't think it will matter. Tamyra seems on her way to winning the whole thing. Regardless, she and Kelly will both end up signed to someone's label.

OMG I missed it!!! ( taking notes for a BB summary) Tell me what happened PLEASE!! Who got the Bump?? Why was Justin scared? I need details!!!

Help a Bug out guys!

Buggy,

Ryan got the bump last night, but Justin was in the bottom 3 along with Ryan and Nikki. Nikki got to sit down, and we were told that the vote for last place was very close. Justin got the nod. Ryan cried. Group hug. Roll credits as Ryan tries to sing her last song. That's the short version.

I don't think Justin was expecting this at all. He had to know he chose a bad song the night before, but I don't think he realized how much danger he was in of being voted out, even when he got named to the lowest three.
