"Dancing With The Stars #5 Episode #14 East Coast Update Thread"

Please keep all sigpic free discussion of tonight's show until the people on the West Coast have a chance to watch the performances for themselves.

Is it too much to hope that whomever people want to go home the most this week will sit in the middle of the floor for the whole dance and be voted off without controversy?

Sorry I didn't get the thread up earlier. I had some chicken barley soup to get put in the freezer before the show started.

Oh Geez, the Christmas commercials have started. I know Toys for Tots needs to get started soon, but I'm not ready to hear Christmas music yet.

Shot of Jane in the ambulance to the hospital. Cameron in the bottom two Sabrina voted off.

They have to do two full dances tonight and

ANYTHING CAN AND DOES HAPPEN!

Chicken Barley Soup, sounds yummy. Kinda chilly here, and that would hit the spot.

I had a carcass from a rotisserie chicken and felt like making soup. I didn't have any noodles and I like barley in soup so I used that instead.

Opening Credits.

Why is it the "Home of Bigfoot?"

Two brand new individual routines. Can the stars make it down the stairs.Looks like Donny is in the audience.

They will be doing a ballroom and a latin round

Just before that when they were saying what happened last week, a big foot came down on the image of Sabrina - it was very quick but very funny.

Doing the tango and the samba.

Gets a video from home in Brazil. Mom and Dad are cute.

Dancing to "The jean genie" By David Bowie if Google is correct.

She is in half a black cress with a dark pink lining.

Len. He loves Helio's jacket. The race for the finals start now. You had drive and attack, but not one heel lead in the dance. Left arm too far out. BOOOOO!!! I tell the truth.

Bruno. You are like thunder and lightening, but we have to look at the technical. It needed more polish work on the details.

Carrie Ann. I liked it. Maybe because I am younger I thought it was a nice twist on the tango. Right with the music a few little mis-steps.

I liked the dance, but well, it is Helio. I thought it was crisp, clean and forceful.

Samantha Blame Sabrina on us and Tom adds Global Warming To

Marie and Jane have the same dances this week.

Cha Cha and the Quickstep.

Marie wants to make her hips move girly like Jonathan's.

Dancing the Quick Step first

They are in uniform type outfits.

Dancing to "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"

She gives Len a kiss at the end.

He has very red lipstick on his face. Marie nearly fell.

Bruno. strands up: a morale boosting dance. You raised the roof.

Carrie Ann. Sometimes you go campy, there was nothing campy tonight. All the details were taken care of it was wonderful.

Len. Entertainment runs through your veins like Chianti does through Bruno. That had the most twists of the dances you have done.

Great dance, but not as good as a 10. You gotta love Marie's comebacks to Samantha. Priceless.

ETA: Marie has changed her body quite a bit (not that she looked bad). The outfit looked great.

I'm not at all a Marie "fan", but to give her credit, this time her personality worked, and watching was really fun.

(still voting for Helio, tho)

Fox Trot and Paso Doble.

Dancing the Fox Trot to "Jimmy Mack"

She is in white full pants and a sequined top. He is in black with a white vest.

Tom gets a hug from Mel this dance.

Carrie Ann. Last week we saw what perfection looks like. It was lovely and it seemed a bit out of sync.

Len. Lovely arms during the solo and it is tough doing two dances. The footwork I got a toe when I expected a heel. I enjoyed it.

Bruno. Foxtrot is hard, needed a bit more finesse.

"RE: Melanie Brown and Maksim"

I agree, it lacked some enthusiasm. I expect more from these guys. And I really am not about the who's life is more stressful background stories.

I'll second that emotion. Anyway I am thinking having eight children is possibly the same level of stress as making a video full-time.

I was a little disappointed. I'm pulling for this team, originally mostly because I like to watch poor Maks be abused, but I'm unexpectedly liking this team. I think they have some fun (platonic) chemistry.

How did Jane's dress end up going through Edyta's personal costume shredder?

"RE: Jane's dress"

Distracting dress.

"RE: Jane's dress"
Posted by cindyland on 11-06-07 at 01:13 AM
I like Jane and all, but I too was distracted by all the toilet paper hanging from her dress. It's hard to believe that she can wear anything that makes her not look great, but that was it.

"RE: Jane Seymour and Tony"
Posted by Snidget on 11-05-07 at 08:46 PM
She is in a shredded white dress.

Nice drag and dip at the end.

Len. Getting to the nitty gritty. You have that Grace, the two mistakes was lack of body contact and poor footwork.

Bruno. You have natural class. Distracted by her dress being run through a shredder. The detail needs to work and we will be tougher.

Carrie Ann, the technique is OK, you need to excite us, you can't just be good. You have to be outstanding and bring some excitement.

(gee they are being harder on them, not based on the scores they give)

Rumba and Viennese Waltz

She finds it weird he can dance the rumba with his sister.

Similar in style but different in technique. She is scared about learning two dances.

"RE: Jennie Garth and Derek"
Posted by lynkfri13 on 11-05-07 at 08:57 PM
she's dancing well, but I like her less and less each show. She makes me imagine a ballroom dancing chipmunk.

I also don't like her attitude to Derek.

Overall, just yuck.

Dancing the Viennese Waltz in an ice blue dress.

Dancing to: The Corrs - Runaway Lyrics

They ran her dress through the shredder to, just not as much.

Bruno. Sometimes you are so fluid you are like a water nymph. when you get it right you are great, you have to sustain that level all the way through the dance.

Carrie Ann. We came back too steps. Broken lines, you have this momentum and to get better we just need to get a bit more strength.

Bruno. I had a lovely musical lilt. There was not enough waltz in hold, I am a fan of your choreography (and Bruno starts fighting). I saw a load of running promenades. There was not enough in hold (after counting out the dances)

I'm noticing the same problem with Jennie that Helio must feel with Julianne.

Jennie is 35 and Derek is 22. Ordinarily, that would not be a problem for me - - but with Jennie and Derek, it's just yuck.

Can't stop giggling at the thought of passion between the two.

Wow they can do an overhead camera shot? who knew.

Jonathan says his outfit was like a parking lot cone.

Carrie Ann. Perfect tone, there wasn't enough content it was fun but it could be a bit more comment.

Len agrees with Carrie Ann. It was a good effort, it was a little too much messing about and hard to do two full routines.

Bruno. Liked the character. Peaked earlier on, she is back talking a lot to Bruno.

"What about Mel and Maxim #2??"
Posted by mistyrose52 on 11-06-07 at 02:14 AM
Wow, can she do Dominatrix or what?? That was an AMAZING Pasa Doble! 30 was exactly what they deserved!! It was mind-blowing and so much better than anything that came out of the corrals tonight!

I am rooting for them to at least be in the top 3-hopefully, higher! I love her personality, and spunk, and I think she is perfect partnered up with Maxim! GO MEL!!!

Side note: I HATE IT when Marie talks back to those judges-who the heck does she think she is???

"RE: What about Mel and Maxim #2??"
Posted by Round Robin on 11-06-07 at 04:36 AM
Well, somebody's gotta fire back at them for the load of BS they hand out. Jeez, to hear some of the stuff they say, you'd think they're not all 3 watching the dances sometimes. And some of their scores don't make a lick of sense after you hear what they say.

"RE: Marie Osmond and Jonathan 2"
Posted by qwertypie on 11-06-07 at 04:33 PM
Wow they can do an overhead camera shot? who knew?

I think the issue is that they do too many camera shots. I laughed when one of the daws said they did camera blocking. Would be nice if the actual person in charge of which camera gets used when attended rather than shouting out numbers at random.

"RE: Marie Osmond and Jonathan 2"
Posted by Snidget on 11-06-07 at 07:18 PM
I figured the camera peeps were just playing along with the at home drinking game.

They get to do it twice, once during dress and once live.

I mean how would you know it is live without the random shots of the cables that hook up to the camera.

Here is what I typed last night so I could get it posted when the board came back up.

Marie 2.0 scores

Mel 2.0

Paso Doble to En Vogue Free your mind.

She is in lingerie and a robe like over dress.

Len. I don't think I can pass a comment. You had everything in it. The passion, the agreesiong

Bruno. That was an adreniline charge dominatrix. My jaw on the desk. Top That.

Carrie Ann. I think you kicked some serious booty.

Run to the back stage for the scores.

Oh a lot of people are wearing cheetah paw marks (I was wondering what that was about.

Scores
10~10~10

30 out of 30. Mel feels sick.

Jane 2.0.

Dancing the Cha Cha to "It is in his kiss"

She is in a short gold fringy dress

Bruno. Well Jane is the golden icon. That was very well executed and placed. Your hips were moving and you did well.

Carrie Ann. I agree did well, first of all how amazing you look in that gold dress. Once again you are such a dainty dancer I wanted to see a hair more.

Len. Likes to see basic work, tonight is firework night in England. You need to give us some fireworks. I said it was good you just need to wow us.

Tom, comeing back Len will talk about more English Holidays that mean nothing to us.

Scores.

Cameron 2.0
Dancing the Jive to Boy From New York City

What is with the whaever that is on her lower legs.? He jumps over her, she flips into the splits at the end.

Len. Normally the Jive suits compact dancers, you did that fantastice, well done.

Bruno. More kicks than a rodeo. Took it kicking and screaming. Hard to do this and be precise on the beat. Well done.

Carrie Ann. It is difficult and you started as the good looking guy and now you are a good dancer.

WOW was all I could say about Mel and Maks Paso Doble.

And yes, Derek went overboard with the tan. His eyes looked white and the rest of his face was tan. Way too obvious.

With only 4 points separating first to last. The fan votes will be deciding who goes home tonight.

Leg warmers. I don't get it. She wears them often, I think. I'm not sure why her shins are the only part of her body that she feels the need to cover.

BTW- I couldn't get to the boards last night after Helio's 2nd dance through the end of the show. Those of you who are regulars on the boards, is this something that happens often?

"RE: Edyta's leg warmers"
Posted by Snidget on 11-06-07 at 06:54 PM
It is fairly uncommon, but it has been known to happen once in awhile.

The board can get very slow on season finale nights as a lot of people check the ECST the last 5 minutes of the show on the East Coast.
