"Help! Computer INFECTED!"

My computer is infected, I can't post, it ate my restore points, windows security won't allow updates-I have a trojan called Vundo from either the TV guide website or an email attachment I opened. I am lost, I tried a bunch of stuff, nothing is working.

Can anyone help? I've tried a bunch of stuff but if anyone has dealt with this please let me know what worked for you.

Thanks!

Not dealt with it personally.

Also, if you suspect your anti-virus software has been compromised, try this online online scanner from the Trend Micro, the makers of PC-Cillin:

Click the Scan Now. It's Free! one third down the page.

MalwareBytes.com works very well on those Vundo viruses. Ask me how I know...

Good luck with it.

I tried a little bit of everything, and because it was infected it all took soooo long! Ultimate fixer? the one grit mentioned, Malwarebytes. What a great little program! It reset the Windows Update as well as removing the cursed trojan.

*dance of joy*

The moral of the story? Don't open email attachments that you don't normally open!

Thank you again so much!

I am doing a basic recommend for this product that CSTL's company uses.

Acronis

What it is: A great imaging software.

What it does: It makes a complete, full, image of your hard drive for you to use later if something happens like a virus or a major crash.

He uses it at work, and we use it here at home. Actually, a couple of years ago we found a 400g hard drive for like $60 during the Christmas sales. Now, when we visit family we take it with us and his copy of Acronis and update our image of family computers. It helps when they call him to fix it. Now he just has to see them to upload the image.

Really, it is probably one of the best software's I have seen. Nothing gets lost, and having an image on a separate hard drive is better than making back ups of important files on several disks. Really.

Glad you are all fixed Moonie!!
