"S18 Gufu Award: Week 11"

Posted by dabo on 05-08-09 at 00:47 AM

The Gufu Award was established for pointing out the dangdumbest game moves in Survivor. Each week you have a designated number of votes you may award for Contestant Gufus! Except for Coach; Coach gets his own special Coach Gufus! Should you notice any gufus of dangdumbness for noncontestant stuff, these are Production Gufus, a separate category with its very own designated number of votes you may award. Should you wish to exceed your designated votes, these are Honorary Gufus.

This week you have two (2) Contestant votes, four (4) Coach votes, one (1) Loved One vote, two (2) Assistant Coach votes, and two (2) Production votes.

Loved Ones this time:

Ben's assistant coach who relies on this psycho for his job.
Debbie's husband who is about as bland as can be.
Erinn's dad who taught her invisibility.
JT's little sister who can translate his thick drawl.
Stephen's brother, mother always liked Stephen best.
And Taj's Eddie award winning celeb and my he still has some fine muscle tone.

I'll start.

Production #1: Most boring anticlimactic Survivor Auction ever.

Coach #1: What up, you couldn't even rely on your just as pretentious brother to back you up, you had to bring in a ringer!

Contenstant #1: Bubbles bubbles bubbles. Positioning is one thing, but the time to start targeting a vote is after an Immunity Challenge.

Production #2: Um, I have a choice of time totally alone with my loved one at Exile while everyone else gets visits, or I can avoid Exile and still have my loved one but no one else can have theirs, seriously, this is a choice? This is almost as dumb as Ghost Tribe.

Production: I agree; Taj's choice was no choice.
Unless - - - If she had chosen to have Eddie at camp instead of exile, would it have been for a longer time - even over night?
Still, I think she'd have chosen to let others see their visitors too.

Debbie: #1 Your only chance was the time before Sierra left to try for an all female alliance.

Debbie: #2 Thinking JT & Stephen would so easily turn on Taj? The one person they have been with from the beginning?

Debbie: #3 Math is really not your strong point, is it?

LAST EDITED ON 05-08-09 AT 09:57 AM (EST)

LAST EDITED ON 05-08-09 AT 09:54 AM (EST)

Production #1: The auction was either severely edited, or too short (only 4 food items up for bid?). The reward challenges are getting a little boring. I think the next reward should be a visit to a village of dwarf Peruvian assivores.

Assistant Coach #1: Coach's "loved one" was his assistant coach? (Or a crew member paid to act like a groupie?) No friend, girlfriend, or family members were willing to come down there to support him? Not even his wife, Morgan Fairchild? (His brother, I guess, was too busy inventing light).

It would have been even more hilarious if Coach's loved one was Tyson.

Assistant Coach #2: "These are not sex positions". Euw. (If they have to issue a disclaimer....) You'd think after all those morning Chongg Ran exercises, Coach would be Mr. Limber Sam-R-I dude and wouldn't need his "hamstrings" to be "stretched". And what a weird way to spend the afternoon. The point of the loved one visit is to boost morale, not get a free chiropractor session/tire rotation/whatever it was they were doing.

Coach #1: After the last few TCs, you'd think he'd start to notice that his so-called "Warrior Alliance" keeps voting differently from him. You'd think that would clue him in that he's not even in the loop, let alone controlling the game. And yet he continues to insist that he's calling the shots and everyone is voting exactly the way he wants. It's almost cute, in a "he thinks he's people" sort of way. No, no, not cute. What's the word I want? Delusional.

Coach #2: "Cowards, cowards, cowards. I'm surrounded by cowards..." Another TC, another irrational personal vendetta by Coach. Special douche award for voting for Taj after she included him in the family reward (not that it was a huge sacrifice on her part, but still).

Contestant #1: Debbie, for being so ham-handed about wanting to throw Coach under the bus. By openly switching alliances, she painted a big target on her back. And she was proposing to get rid of the one person who was guaranteed NOT to vote for her. What changed, anyway, that she suddenly decided honesty and integrity were strategic liabilities at F6? When has Survivor ever been about integrity?

More_Cowbell - you are a GREAT addition to the boards! Hilarious!!! Way too many bon mots to quote, but I gotta say Coach's "Special douche award for voting for Taj" was awesome! And Coach's special mini-coach visit with SO WEIRD!!! You are right - he shouldn't need "special stretching" at this point. And him bragging that the other tribemembers call him "DragonSlayer" - YOU DO, YOU DOUCHEBAG! ACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LVOED it!

I'll add a special GuFu award - truly positive award for once -
for Sierra & Brandon at TC, with their coats over their shoulders - Ring-a-ding! I thought that was hilarious! A bit of telegraphing from the rest of the tribe too - Taj especially

Not that I have an opinion one way or another ;)

Thanks PsychoKitty! It's been a pleasure lurking lo these many years.

I loved the "ring-a-ding" tribute too. The best part is, Coach had no idea they were mocking him.

>Assistant Coach #1: Coach's "loved one"
>was his assistant coach?
>(Or a crew member paid
>to act like a groupie?)

Production gufu 1: They overpaid to bring this SAG-wannabe to camp to act as Coach's groupie.

Production gufu 2: The rest of the contestants missed out on seeing Eddie George. I'd have liked to see what Eddie thought of the chiropractor session/tire rotation/whatever -- and to see what Coach thought of having someone more famous than him in camp. "Eddie, let me see if I can tackle you! The Dragon Slayer never misses a tackle!"

Production: Not turning the cameras off and beating the stuffing out of Coach every time he calls himself Dragon Slayer in a confessional.

Coach to Asst. Coach: "They call me the Dragonslayer".

Me to Coach: "No, they don't you idiot. YOU'RE the only one that calls you Dragonslayer!!!!"

I think she was both his little sister and his little cousin.

Contestants collectively: JT, Stephen, Taj & Erinn
You missed it.
Get rid of coach with the help of Debbie who has no clue you are playing with her. Then take Debbie out next time. No problems.

But, take out Debbie first? Coach is finally aware that his warriors have turned on him. Ya'll will be planning to take Coach out next - but he might win immunity.
Or are every one of you thinking of trying to take him to the finals?

Coach #1: His loved one is his assistant coach? Given his personality, I can see why he wouldn't have a wife/girlfriend, but did his entire family disown him?

Coach #2: For giving us more pointless rambling at Tribal Council. What a waste.

Production #1: For failing so miserably at trying to liven up an episode with a blindingly obvious boot.

Production #2: For not showing more footage of Sierra at Tribal Council. The girl cleans up pretty good.

I'd make that a Jeff Gufu because he keeps asking Coach the questions.

Contestant #1: Debbie, for trying to get rid of Coach in such an obvious way.

Coach #1: For having only an assistant coach come visit you and not a family member.

Coach #2: For being so clueless that your hoped-for Warrior Alliance isn't working out -- and being so clueless in general.

Hmmm, well, the winner got to be alone with their loved one and that means that they weren't with Coach. Ok, so there wasn't a choice of good vs. evil there, no dramatic choice to be made, but getting away from Coach is worth it's weight in immunity necklace beads.
