Reversal of Fortune!

On this episode, teams flew from the Seychelles islands to Penang, Malaysia. One in Penang, they had to find the snake temple for their next clue. That clue sent them off to do the detour: Buddhist Tradition - carry a total of 12 huge incense sticks up 153 steps, arrange them and light them - or - Chinese Custom - balance a 32 foot chingay flagpole and get across a field without dropping it. Most teams chose the Buddhist Tradition, but Jet and Cord chose the cingay task and completed it with ease.

Next, Jet and Cord had to do the speed bump, choose a tea mixed with the proper spice and deliver it to the guru in the swing. After that, they had the roadblock - smash coconuts until you find a colored one, then construct a float to be set out to sea. Once completed, they were off to Pinang Peranakan Mansion for the pit stop.

There was finally a change in the standings on last week's rankings by kidflash, so go check it out.

1. Jet and Cord (3) - Wow, if ever there was a perfect leg, this was it! Their only hiccup was a few minutes waiting for a replacement taxi. Everything else went so smoothly for them. They are back on top on my list because they did what they used to do, which is have fun, rock the tasks and make me laugh. It's arts and crafts time boys! P.S. I told you they would get back in first on the race as soon as I did not bet on them in Jim's Casino!

2. Dan and Jordan (2) - They are growing on me. They did not fare so well this leg and they lost me a bunch of Jims Bucks this week, but they seem less screechy lately and that means now I can actually hear them.

3. Louie and Michael (4) - The tall one I like, he's funny. The short one I do not, he's annoying.

4. Carol and Brandy (5) - Still hate them.

5. Caite and Brent (6) - Still hate them more.

Philiminated: Steve and Allie (1) - Too bad, we were finally getting to know you. They were one of the nicer parent/child teams to watch. They got along well, so that was nice.

1. Jet & Cord. Stress gone? Riding the last-place wave and seeing where it takes you? Not throwing things any more or threatening to bash anyone's head in? Just going back to racing and managing the come-from-behind leg win? Fine. Then maybe we can get on with it.

2. Carol & Brandy. Seem to be getting calmer and more competent with each passing leg: whoever heard of race pressure decreasing as you get closer to the finals? But they're getting more comfortable with the way the course works, and maybe even each other. Bonus points for the world's first active eyebrow lure.

3. Dan & Jordan. There have been so many seasons where they would have been an automatic last place. I really miss some of those seasons... Honestly, did your mother tell you that if you read the clues too closely, you'd go blind? And when you get a psychotic cab driver with no respect for road rules, one who's willing to get himself (and you) killed if it saves five seconds on your trip? You pay him for the day on the spot! Are you sure you've seen the show before?

4. The Enablers. Find the bigots. Play off the bigots. Make their bigotry work for you. And pretend, while giving the world's most insincere high-five, that it doesn't somehow corrupt you. While, of all things, wearing a Karma t-shirt. I know what you got after the race ended, and with every passing leg, I know you deserved it -- and so much morse.

5. The One-Word Hater Vocabulary. Lesbians? Lesbians lesbians lesbians, lesbians lesbians lesbians (lesbians -- lesbians). Lesbians: lesbians lesbians, lesbians lesbians lesbians. Lesbians lesbians lesbians lesbians lesbians lesbians lesbians lesbians lesbians!

I repeat: if they used names, they would be, on some level, admitting they were talking about people. And they can't do that. Hatred of a group means failing to acknowledge the existence of individuals. Brent & Caite are bigots looking for an excuse -- and they would have made their own.

I suppose brandy and Carol are bigots, too, since they've dehumanized Jet and Cord by referring to them as "The Cowboys."

1. Jet/Cord- Dan/Jordan would be here had it not been for your excellent racing this leg. To think, you had to do an extra task and still beat the rest of the pack.

2. Dan/Jordan- Talk about redeeming yourselves. I have grown to really like these two.

3. Carol/Brandi- Becoming good racers.

4. Michael/Louie- Here because of who is left.

5. Caite/Brent- No comment.

1) Carol & Brandy - They are working together well, not fighting all while being targeting by a couple of bigots and two empty headed police officers.

2) Dan & Jordan - Bad choice to leave their taxi, set them way behind and they never had a chance to catch up. I think as the race has progressed, Dan has stopped trying so hard for air time and the result is he has become less annoying.

3) Jet & Cord - One of the finest legs ever run by a TAR team. Was it skill, karma or just dumb luck that they choose the flag Detour? Glad they are still in it as I would hate either of the teams below to make the final leg.

4) Michael & Louie - Deciding where to place them is deciding who is worse, the bigots or the ones that encourage them.

∞ +1) Caite & Brent - This repulsive bigoted beeyotch deserves all the humiliation she has ever received for her stupidity. Her and her dense man shaped purse can just fall off the planet for all I care.


Philiminated: Steve & Allie - Hard to care about a team we never actually saw.

1. Jet & Cord: Easy to rank them here this week. Love them. They had a great leg with no mistakes. Worst to First!

2. Carol & Brandy: Still don't care for them, but they did well.

3. Louie & Michael: Meh. No big mistakes, and they did well when lumped together with everyone else.

4. Caite & Brent: You are now both starting to really annoy me. Also, don't complain about the heat when you're wearing a jacket in the heat.

5. Dan & Jordan: Two mistakes this leg: (1) Getting out of the taxi and walking. WTF? (2) Not reading the clue. You also get a third whammy from me for whining about the heat, yet continiung to wear a friggin jacket.

6. Philiminated: I liked you better than a lot of remaining teams, but your mistakes were too clostly this round.

(1) Jet and Cord - It seems they do better when they're under pressure and have to focus. They enjoyed themselves this leg and kept themselves out of the backbiting going on with some of the other teams.

(2) Dan and Jordan - I've never really liked this guys all season. But they're running a (sometimes) competent race and they're also staying out of the name-calling fray.

(3) Carol and Brandy - Another team I haven't cared for all season, but they're turning out to be less ugly than than the two teams that follow.

(4) Louis and Michael - Louis: "I've trained my wolf cubs". Now that's a synonym I haven't heard before. Again, they're no Sherlocks, and I find myself liking them less week by week.

(5) Caite and Brent - Invokes the Big-Man-Upstairs' name in vain about outdoors air conditioning even as they can't cool off their own phobic rhetoric.

1. Jet/Cord - I was so proud of those guys!! They had me so worried a week ago and to make such a mighty comeback and make it look so easy was just pure cool. I want them to win more than I've wanted any team to win in a LONG time. Kris and Jon were probably the last time I liked this much.

2. Dan/Jordan - They are steadily becoming more likable in my book. It's pretty great that Dan is so determined to help his brother fulfill his dream.

3. Carol/Brandi - A few weeks ago I would not have believed I'd place them this high but they are doing fairly well and acting less annoying than the "daddys" and their silly kids.

4. The Daddys - proclaimed as such by Caite. I also prefer Michael to Louie. NOTE: Major points for automatically and willingly sharing clothing items with the backpackless team. I love it when teams help their competition.

5. Brent/Caite - The dynamic duo that just keeps hanging in there somehow. By the way, HOW? They remind me somewhat of Dandrew with their ability to get this far. (ability is probably not the best word...)

Steve & Ali - I was somewhat disappointed to see them get the boot. Steve was pretty decent in the race.

1. Jet & Cord -- wow! What a difference a week makes! Despite the Speedbump, you rocked the leg! Great job!

2. Brent & Caitie -- it's a shock that you moved up this far for me, but you did better -- and you weren't bickering as much.

3. Dan & Jordan -- I like you more than the others, but you made a big mistake in leaving your taxi.

4. Louie & Michael -- maybe you should've gone for Chinese Custom. I would have.

5. Carol & Brandy -- you were good but there has to be some reason why Louie & Michael dislike you like Brent & Caitie do.

1. Carol and Brandy - I really like them, they do some complaining however it seems more theatrical than real, and they ran a very good leg.

2. Jet and Cord - Less petulance this week, helped by the bunch point however they chose the task that suited them perfectly and skipped through the leg with no drama and no problems.

3. Dan and Jordan - Running well, and a little too much, I am starting to like them, although they do make foolish mistakes.

4. Caite and Brent - Father issues anyone? Not great racers but persistent.

5. Louie and Michael - They just rub me up the wrong way.

1. Jet & Cord - Way to go! Last to first even with a speed bump.

2. Dan & Jordan - Better than the remaining teams although you should have just stayed in the cab and kept the best taxi driver in Malaysia.

3. Caite & Brent - No major stupid moves this leg.

4. Louis & Michael - Why did Louis agree to that detour? I knew he'd be half dead before the end of it. Moron!

5. Carol & Brandy - Just go away.

Philiminated - Steve & Allie - One of two teams that I like and now they're gone. They made the stupid mistake of getting out of their cab and switching tasks - twice. I was disappointed in Allie for not even trying to do see if she could balance that giant stick on her head.

1. Jet and Cord (1,1,1,1,1,1,1)- Way to go! Kept your sense of humor and just kept racing. But I fear that because the editors spent so much time on your confidence at the pit stop you won't win the whole thing.
2. Dan and Jordan (6,6,4,4,5,4,3)- Again, lack of bickering makes me like you more. But you need to step it up a little more, because you're one of the two teams I want to see win this race.
3. Carol and Brandy (4,4,3,3,4,5,5)- Doing well and have lessened the drama. I'm ambivalent about you winning.
4. Louie and Michael (8,7,7,6,3,3,4)- Dropping because you keep teaming up with Brent and Caite. Unless this is some sort of ploy to keep the incompetent teams in the Final Three with you, you probably shouldn't team up with the idiots.
5. Caite and Brent (9,8,6,5,6,6,6)- You guys need to get over someone saying something mean about you (which, as has been pointed out, we actually have no proof was ever actually said).

Philiminated: Steve and Allie (7,3,2,2,2,2,2)- Too bad. I liked this team, but bad taxis and too much changing their minds ended up hurting them.

None of these teams would have lasted very long in past seasons.

1) Carol & Brandy - I like them. They are smart, and bickering less.

2) Dan & Jordan - I like that they are always interested in where they are, and are respectful.

3) Jet & Cord - Good leg, don't really like them though.

4) Michael & Louie - Obnoxious. Don't get the Carol and Brandy hate either.

5) Caite & Brent - Bigots. How in the hell are they still there. G.O A.W.A.Y!

Little late this week...haven't read anyone's yet so sorry for any repetition

This week they came in the exact opposite of last week...

1. Jet and Cord (4)(2)(1)(5)(3)(3)(4)- if I gave the bungling detectives the no. 1 spot, I have to give J/C it this week, they did the flag balancing thing so quickly and I didn't think anyone could do that and came in first...it appears by quite some time. I wish they had said dag nabbit to the guru though...

2. Carol and Brandy -(6)(4)(4)(2)(5)(4)(3)-strong leg and continued with no bickering...next week it appears they get uturned by Princess Tiara

3. Dan and Jordan (2)(6)(3)(3)(1)(2)(1)- they made a mistake getting out of their cab and were lucky S/A tried the other task
Jordan's dream is to win...does his dream come true? editing says "maybe" imho

4. Louie and Michael (7)(7)(6)(4)(2)(1)(2)-Louie's lack of cardio is being focused upon quite a bit..is this what makes this team be philiminated?

5. Caite and Brent (9)(8)(7)(6)(6)(6)(6)- I don't like these 2 at all...this week's TV Guide said TAR "broke" the rules to allow the 20 year old Caite to compete...maybe don't do that anymore and you won't get whiny brats...


Philiminated Steve and Allie (3)(1)(2)(1)(4)(5)(5)- I knew they couldn't win with the edit they received. It looked like they got some clothes from others. I did not like some of Allie's comments... I did like Steve even if he is with the Phillies

but it wasn't as blatant as when Brandy said they would be the first all female team to win, that's why I think the edit says "maybe" they win...D/J are getting a much better edit than at the beginning (are they really being less irritating or is it just not being shown--heck the same can be said of C/B with less bickering)...if you look at kidflash's stats, D/J are slowly making their way up our fave list

Yeah, but look at the competition. Even for those that like Plane and Cable, there are not a lot of other contenders to rank highly on a lvoe list. Dan and Jordan are my favorites, but that is largely a function of them being the most tolerable. Each season I become increasingly disappointed in the crappy slate of Racers presented to us.

1. Carol/Brandy (1) - Well done this week with no mistakes and drama, glad to see them pass Brent/Caite in the end, but it does not look good for them next week, hope they can get it through

2. Jet/Cord (3) - Excellent this leg!

3. Dan/Jordan (4) - They have a tough leg, I start to support this team now, they look much better than the first few legs

1) Jet & Cord - Rocked it!!! I couldn't believe how well they did. That was amazing. And the confidence and speed with which they did the pole balance was wild! I wish they'd said dag nabbit to the guru too - that was too funny!!! Go "cowboys" go!

2) Dan & Jordan/Carol & Brandy - I'm glad the brother is finally realizing it's a race! Too bad about the cabbie though.

3) Michael & Louie - I like Michael, and Louie has his moments. I wish they WOULD stop being enablers to the bigots though. It's really disturbing. I would like them to be better people.

4) Caite & Bozo - these two are AWFUL!!! She is the worst of the two and if possible (!) he is more clueless than she is! "Lesbian, lesbian, etc. . . . " just shut the F%%% up! The more screen time they get, the more ugly and stupid they reveal themselves to be. WHY are they still here?

Philiminated: Steve & Allie. It's a shame, but they would have died the first time they flew somewhere cold ;) I did not like how Allie didn't even try to do the pole balance; there were lots of things she didn't try even though she looks very healthy and capable. Oh well!!! It wasn't their race to win.

How many of you saw in the TV Guide last week their Cheer about the different teams in AR? I cracked up: "the lipstick lesbians", "the cowboys", and "pornstachio'd Louie!" Too funny!!! I wish I liked more of the teams this season - but of who's left - I'm rootin' for the cowboys!!!!

1. Dan and Jordan - Well, this is the lvoe list, not the merit list, so I'm going to go ahead and put them first because I still like them more than any of the other teams. They made some huge mistakes, especially considering that one of them lives and breathes The Amazing Race so should have known better.

2. Carol and Brandy - Considering who does not like them, they must be doing something right.

3. Ron Jeremy Rejects - Yes, you are as stupid as that mustache makes you look.

4. Plane and Cable - Again, it's a lvoe list, not a merit list. I just don't like these two that much, and I especially do not like the favoritism shown with the special theme music. The only way that they could have done better on the last leg would have been if one of the tasks involved forcing every word out through their nasal cavity. That's a skill both of them really have down. It's painful to listen to them.

5. Brute and Miss Congeniality - The hardest thing for both of these knobs must be the fact at neither lesbian lesbian lesbian lesbian lesbian has any interest in either of them.

Week Eight Results


Movement again on the lvoe list. Jet & Cord's worst to first finish get them back in the good graces of the lvoe list posters. They return to the number one spot. Dan & Jordan hold on to their second place spot - emydi and History Detective debate whether we actually like them or if its just because we dislike the others more. Carol & Brandy finish ahead of the two teams that have professed a desire to see them eliminated.

Caite & Brent continue to inhabit the basement finishing last again.
