I got an email from the Contender. Says the undercard fights are:

The undercard match-ups include Alfonso Gomez vs. Luciano Perez, Anthony Bonsante vs. Jesse Brinkley, Jonathan Reid vs. Miguel Espino, and Juan Delarosa vs. Jesse Orta.

Who is Luciano Perez and Jesse Orta? Any info would help. Too bad they couldn't have just fighters from the series. What happened to Tarrick or Fraza?

Luciano "El Gallo Bravo" Perez is a tough Mexican fighter based out of Chicago. He is apparently a hard-punching brawler and this could make for an entertaining fight as Alfonso also has this similar style. The bottom line however is that he is a replacement fighter. On the other hand, replacements have been mopping the floor with their opponents recently in the boxing world, though I don't think Alfonso will really care about those stats! So we shall see what Luciano is made of, as we already know about Alfonso! Perez is 12-2-1 (11KO), and in his last 6 he has won 3, lost 2 and drawn 1.

Luciano Perez:

As for Jesse Orta (previously and mistakenly named him as Carlos Orta), he is 5-5-1 (4KO), and he has lost 5 of his last 6, but he won his last fight by TKO in the 1st round. It is hard to tell what exactly that means as he has only fought in 4 rounders so far (except one fight), and he lost by DQ to Travis Scott back in February - Travis Scott sparred with Bernard Hopkins and has a good amateur background, and Orta was giving him some problems until he got DQ'd. Orta has fought in one 6 round fight however where he showed that he is tough, can take a punch and has heart as he got up from the canvas 3 times against Bernardo Guereca before losing the fight on the scorecards.

Jesse Orta:

As for Jeff Fraza, he was originally supposed to fight against Alfonso, however he re-injured his shoulder in training/sparring and had to pull-out. He originally injured his shoulder during his fight against Brent Cooper back in May in one of the daytime undercards for The Contender final. Tarick was not originally scheduled to appear on this card, so he probably was not training(?).

What the heck....Contender is supposed to be on in 15 minutes and they have a football game which is only in the third quarter on now. Horrible planning by ESPN!

They should not of stopped that fight. Gomez was winning but Perez was not hurt enough to stop it. Perez was fighting back well. Bad decision but can't take it away from Gomez.

The Main Event is underway right now but here are the results of earlier fights...excluding the fight of Bonsante and Brinkley currently being shown.

Contender: Season One" semi-finalist Alfonso Gomez dropped Luciano Perez in round three and stopped him at 2:20 of round four. It seemed like referee Pat Russell halted this one a tad prematurely.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In a battle of former "Contender: Season One" combatants, middleweight Miguel Espino recovered from a first round knockdown to outwork Jonathan Reid over the ensuing rounds, finally stopping Reid with 12 seconds left in the fifth and final round.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
In the first bout, "Contender: Season One" participant Juan De la Rosa pounded out a unanimous decision over Jesse Orta in a middleweight bout.

Gotta imagine that Bonsante has won against brinkley. Jesse just didn;t seem focused where Bonsante was. This outcome surprised me. I thought Brinkley was better than this and after seeing Bonsante fight Ishe I thought he was not too good.

That sucks. Guess the crockness of boxing survives on the contender. Bonsante should've won.

That was crap. no way Brinkley won that fight. Hopng for the Main Event to be a War. I want to see Gomez fight Manfredo again or fight against Sergio. Hopefully he gets a shot at the "Contender" champion. Nice to see Ishe in the stands would have liked to see him fight as well.

I was hoping Brinkley would get another knock out to be honest with you but he was out boxed. No,he got his ##### kicked, how they gave him the win I have no idea. But Manfredo beat the hell out of Mora and Mora kept the belt. Then to top it off he is already crying about a head butt. He was out boxed. PERIOD!!! Manfredo is the better boxer. My card shows Gomez winner, Bonsante Winner, Brinkley Needing much more conditioning. Manfredo Winner and Mora still the record holder for most girl scout cookies sold of any in the troop! This was a black mark on the sport. Very disappointing guys, you should be ashamed!
