We got about 2" of snow on top of some freezing rain on Monday night. Because I've got a long 105' sloping driveway, I've got a big toy to deal with the snow, this monster of a SFV (snow fighting vehicle) -- rumble, rumble!

Driving it is like mowing the lawn, except it's for snow on pavement instead of grass on the lawn.

Yup, it's self-propelled (it needs to be, being kinda heavy), 6 forward speeds plus reverse, two-stage, either electric or pull start, 27" wide clearing swath, 23" high scoop, 15" tires, and shoots that snow a good dozen feet or more. Menards currently has the PR270A on sale for $600 and I got it during the 11% rebate week for a $66 rebate check.

I took my family for a holiday trip to NZ during Christmas/NewYear vacation while we were living in Malaysia. We rented an RV and did a full loop of the south island, visiting lands where they shot the film for the Lord of the Rings. It's a beautiful country and the people there are quite friendly. I wouldn't mind living there!

Cabin fever. There's no snow here, but I've got cabin fever anyway.

And I want that snow blower to go with my cherry picker rig, my D10 dozer, and my bucket dredge, and my Santa's sled and reindeer.

Benvolio was a great man, a great man. But he was a bit hard to understand. Not his fault, he also had cabin fever.

It's ugly in D.C. - ice everywhere and there was a massive pileup on the freeway to the north after a truck forgot to put on its ice skates.
