According to the guy on the radio today, according to some survey conducted by someone somewhere -- this year people are preferring the holiday greeting "Happy Holidays!" over "Merry Christmas!" by something to something.

WINNING!

So, OT, let's have an informal survey. Which of the following is your favorite holiday greeting?

I always use Merry Christmas. At work, however, with our students we are "encouraged" to use Happy Holidays.

I live in one of the most diverse places on the planet - Queens, NY. I'll use both Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays as it seems appropriate.

First of all, I would never use any of those phrases as a greeting, when "how you doin'?" or "whassup?" will suffice. I might say "Merry Christmas" in farewell to someone that I know will be celebrating Christmas in some form, or likewise "Happy Hanukkah" as applicable. "Happy Holidays" is okay if you're not sure what holiday, if any, a person might be celebrating. And I do have Spanish-speaking friends for whom "Feliz Navidad" is appropriate.

"Seasons Greetings" is never to be uttered at all unless you want a snowball lobbed at your head.
