and the judges on Project Runway thought those contestants a few seasons back did terrible.
They were excellent compared to some of these.

The prohibition against stand up peeing in toilets also has me wondering about those crazy Ukrainians.

I could live with that though, as long as there are any bushes around.

With you being a seasoned world traveler, I thought you would figure that one out, but maybe you haven't traveled to Asia that often. Essentially, it is "No squatting on the toilet seat". In SE Asia and parts of East Asia, it is common for commodes to simply be a hole in the tiled floor (but still with a flush tank above it) where the squatting position is used for releasing bodily excreta. Very often you won't find any toilet paper either, but instead a faucet with a hose attached to wash with.

As for the last one, isn't the figure holding a bottle? Maybe it means: "Mutation alert: Do not drink the radioactive toilet water."

Oh well, the cameras in Sochi probably aren't working anyway.

But if they were, their view from the toilet would be perfect for a lesson in Gay Pride, as well as a hint as to the world wide opinion of their laws.

I have seen (and used) those holes in the floor they sometimes have for toilets. A porcelain hole in the floor. Not just in the Asian countries either. But in none of the places I’ve been was there a ban on squatting to use them, rather that’s what they are designed for.

In Greece, they call them Turkish toilets, and Turkey (whose northern border is very close to Sochi) they call them Greek toilets. In both countries they stink.

Yep, I've seen the "no standing on the toilet seat" in both Russia and China. Often the public restrooms have Eastern and Western toilets. The locals choose the Eastern hole-in-the-floor toilets and the tourists line up for the Western toilet. BYOTP ( bring your own toilet paper)
