"mail box and uploaded files"

Posted by b1whois on 02-21-08 at 03:04 PM
do i have some sort of a mailbox here on the site?

also, i uploaded some files while i was trying to figure out how to format text (FP helped me out) and i was wondering what happened to them? are they clogging up the site somewhere? they could be deleted....
why is uploading files useful? to allow us to post the url in a thread, i believe, but under what conditions would that be useful?

thanks, laura

Mail box, in the main lobby area look at the icons on the top and one says "Inbox" that is where private message to you will show up.

You get a red wavy thing at the top of the lobby on the left when you have new messages.

http://community.realitytvworld.com/boards/DCForumID33/349.shtml is a thread with lots of font formatting information. If you are just posting in a thread you don't need to upload anything, just use the codes. If you are trying to see how a webpage looks you probably need to do that elsewhere.

Mostly the files that are uploaded are graphics or pictures. They need to be less than 75 kb for all files and less than 20 kb and no more than 60 pixels tall for a signature picture (that you would post whenever you post).

When you upload the file the URL is hosted here and so you aren't eating up someone else's bandwidth by linking to their pictures (you can you a free hosting site for pictures as well, but keep to the KB guidelines as that makes threads load fast for those on dial up, and some threads we ask people to only post text).

when you upload a file successfully in the upload a file window that popped up you get the URL for that uploaded file. You need to copy that before you close that pop up window. I don't know if you can get the URL later or not.

If it is just a URL to another webpage you can just copy and paste it, you don't need to upload it here. It is already uploaded on the web.

Did any of that help?
