My not-quite 3-year-old grandniece was having difficultly walking (limping & pain). They've discovered a mass in the muscle just above her left knee. Doctors have ordered a biopsy tomorrow morning. She's been seen by a pediatric oncologist and he's "concerned".

They live in southern Michigan. Hospital's in Kalamazoo.

Early diagnosis shows NO.CANCER, but it is a very rare condition with the mouth-full name of hemangioendothelioma. They will be no chemo, but she will need some follow-up surgery and a "wait-and-watch" period. Doctor also said that it is "not hepatic".

Thanks to all for the good thoughts. We're not out of the woods but there's still plenty of trees to get through (so more good thoughts would be nice.)
