Reality TV is why this site was started, right?

Seems like there are reality shows about just about everything now. I can't keep up with them - proven by the thread started by the newbie trying to find one was was a "only one episode" wonder.

So, besides those we have on our left, what other reality shows do you watch?
What are some you've heard of but have maybe been afraid to tune in to?

And of course this begs to ask.....
any ideas for a reality tv show that has not been produced yet? (that we know of)

Well, we could start with a "Biggest Loser" type show for TV addicts who can't turn the TV off. Take those 100-hour per week TV watchers and have them reduce their TV hours, possibly down to zero!

Oops, there goes the show's viewership!

I gotta ask-- does anybody watch "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"?

And no, I don't watch it.

Tried it but I couldn't even make it past the episode!

Boo-Boo is right. It's a spin off from Toddlers & Tiara's that bizarre kid pageant circuit show.

I should be watched....closely.

Skupin, Alligator Hunter: We'll watch him compete with Troy and Sons during Alligator hunting season in the bayous of South Louisiana. His secret bait will be his own body parts, and his "secret sauce" will be the blood trail he leaves in his wake, while Troy will use more conventional Cajun hunting techniques.

Survivor India: Toenail growing.

Doomsday Prepper Axman compete to gather the most firewood in preparation for when aliens invade and steal all the trees.

Dumb and dumber Moonshine Doomsday Preppers: Competition for who can be less of an idiot, those that risk jail time and being “blowed up” by making illicit moonshine in the woods, or those who decide to buy $5.00 gallons of rotgut rum legally at the local liquor store.

Wiki:
Reality television is a television programming genre that presents purportedly unscripted melodramatic or "humorous" situations, documents actual events, and usually features ordinary people instead of professional actors, sometimes in a contest or other situation where a prize is awarded.

I put this in here because... I wasn't sure how to answer the question. We'll watch "Chopped" and "Iron Chef" and the home improvement shows. Some of these are really game shows (I think "Chopped" is, but so is "Survivor"), and some are magazines, like "Diners, Drive-In's and Dives".

I've really thought Reality TV to be more like the Real World or that Bruce Jenner show or the Osbournes; and a Reality TV "Game" would be TAR, Survivor, and the Mole (sorry, just had to).

But to name off Reality TV Shows I watch has always kind of been interesting for me because I'm not too sure what really qualifies.

Right now, I have watched a couple Joe Schmo Eps, and DW watches "Biggest Loser" and I think there is one of the "Bachelor" type shows on right now she likes (and I sit and watch once in a while with her). We catch Restaurant Impossible once in a while, and the cooking/ food shows including the Food Trucks, etc.

I'd love to see a real attempt to bring back the Mole. I also have wondered how to do something around youth sports, like Little League; or a youth Musical or something like that.

I enjoyed The Great Food Truck Race right up until the point where the handicapping challenges became openly sadistic and then kept right on going into full-scale torture. When I realized the last place left to go was 'Your truck is now on fire. You must sell a thousand dollars in product before you're allowed to leave', I was out.

Kid-oriented reality shows are -- tricky. Keeping the contestants away from permanent emotional damage isn't the easiest prospect. Keeping the parents from inflicting it is worse.

There are a lot of different sets to this, aren't there!

Rachel Ray vs Guy is on new. I recognize few of the "celebrities". But I like the challenges.

I watch a lot of Food Network: Iron Chef; Chopped; Restaurant Impossible; The Next Iron Chef; Top Chef (Masters was my favorite); Masterchef of course!

Then there are all the Storage shows; one about transporting stuff too?
then the Pawn shows - DH watches Hardcore Pawn; I hate the people who go in there acting like a$$es just because the cameras are there (please tell me people would not act like that without knowing they were on camera, please).

Then there is Chainsaw show;
the logging shows - I especially like the one down in LA where they go in the rivers to find the old old logs there;

Can anyone say Quack Quack? Duck Dynasty - LOL

Duck Dynasty is hilarious speaking of that, what about Whisker Wars competitive beard contests.

I should be watched....closely.

This is generally a dead zone for viewership -- movie studios use January as their dump month, and the networks are just catching on to the idea of not following that trend. There isn't that much out there in the genre right now. I've currently got Joe Schmo 3 and Shipping Wars. And until some more seasons premiere, that's about it.

(Did you ever notice that for an entity supposed concerned with arts and entertainment, A&E goes to war more than the History Channel?)

Other shows... I managed to get through fifteen minutes of Honey Boo-Boo before the residual buildup threatened to go terminal.

I can't watch Dance Moms without wanting to kill every adult involved.

Storage Wars is on hold while Joe gets Schmoed.

I'll catch Chopped if nothing else is going against it, but I can't say the same for any other Food Network production.

Double Divas should have been in my territory, but everything felt far too staged: pay no attention to that script being shuffled off-camera.

Survivor and I are officially divorced until they change their casting ways. So in other words, permanently.

For The Bachelor, see above plus I must be permitted to kick Chris Harrison in his testicles for twelve hours, not including meal breaks.

However, I'll probably get back to DWTS now that they've openly admitted their All-Stars season was a horrible mistake.

Idol gets two weeks to convince me it's no longer crap. They will fail.

Biggest Loser will see me return when they drop the unnecessary weight -- one hour and fifteen twists.

Beyond that -- waiting on Phil to hit the starting line and for Gordon, Joe, and Graham to reach the kitchen.

Posted by Starshine on 01-14-13 at 06:08 PM
At the moment I am watching Storage Wars, although I do prefer Auction Hunters as they point out that 9/10 units are a bust and also do some more realistic pricing.

Top Chef, although I am dubious about the way Tommy boy sets himself up as God

Cake Boss, because it is just so bizarre - This week a contestant locked himself in his hotel room, refused to come out and still wasn't the worst performer

Dual Survival. more for the feeling that if the cameras back off for too long Cody will have disappeared and Joe will be looking a lot less manic than any other reason now.

Pawn Stars, because Chumley and the old man are cool, and the stories are sometimes interesting.

Biggest Loser, wasn't going to watch it, and there is less than an half an hour show when all is said and done, but it dragged me back in.

I used to really enjoy the 1900 and 1940 house (and there was an American version set in pioneer times, but I forget its name). We had another one recently Turn Back Time: the Family, which was interesting but a bit more shallow.

And we also have The Supersizers Go... More BBC please!

Still watch and always PVR:
Survivor - Despite the casting, I still enjoy this show/game.
TAR - ditto
SYTYCD - this one might be my favourite. And I loved the Canadian editions, so it's not just an infatuation with Cat.

Occasionally watch:
- The Ultimate Fighter - I can't stand all the house drama, but do enjoy the fights/tournament.

Ones I have dropped:
Bachelor/ette - I used to watch with DW and DD. They don't watch any longer, and neither do I.
DWTS - I never really got into this show, but did watch occasionally. But Julianne is gone now, right?
Apprentice - dropped this one ears ago. The celebs may have been interesting characters, but IMO killed the game aspect as it often seemed to come down to which one had friends with the deepest pockets.
Big Brother - watched one season years ago (with that guy named Evil or something like that?) and still haven't washed this show from my cache.

Shows I miss:
Rock*Star - I really loved the two editions of this one. The performances and game aspect were very good. The prizes not-so-good.
Kid Nation - fun experiment. Not sure how repeatable.

I have never watched any of the cooking shows, the Voice, AGT, ANTM, Biggest Loser, etc.

Oh well TAR is my fave when it is on, TARA and TAROZ seem better to me with the teams generally more likeable and given more to do, I enjoyed China Rush, but never watched the whole thing. TARCAN is something to look forward to as well.

My lack of Portuguese, Norwegian and Hebrew have prevented me watching the other shows. (and my lack of interest in effing around with Utube probably means I won't watch the French version either.)
