"YAFA: Yet Another False Apocalypse."

At this point, the world has been scheduled to end so many times, I suspect the planet is actually a musician/comedian/exotic dancer/any profession which makes extra money by deliberately stalling the start of a show to create more time for merchandise sales.

Just wait until another planet opens up. Let's see how long this one can dare to keep us waiting then!

Again: if you're too stupid to understand 'flip hourglass, start over', I will have very little pity for you. Good luck dealing with any and all tomorrows.

The Soup had special coverage of this.

They were visited by the four horseman of the YAFA:

Horseman of Unending Lust
Chris Harrison - Host, The Bachelor

Horseman of Bat-poop Crazy
Tiffany "New York" Pollard - VH1 Reality Franchise

Horseman of Unspeakable Acts of Idiocy on the News
Jillian Barberie-Reynolds - Former Good Day LA, and asst. Fox shows

Horseman of Overexposure
Naked Adrianne Curry - 1st America's Next Top Model and VH1 Reality

Deck the Halls with Sigs of Tribe

If they haven't caused the Earth to implode from shame, nothing is going to kill it off.

So, how is this supposed to go down? What time zone does this happen in? It's already the 21st in many countries and will be the 22nd by the time it's the 21st here. A "rolling (my eyes) apocalypse" like Ol' False Prophet Camping predicted?

I know one thing. I'm staying home tomorrow in case there's a disappointed nut job out there that decides to make his own end of days scenario.

Edit to add: I saw The Soup's We Told You So end of the world spectacular, too. I loved seeing those old clips. Long live Pickle Girl!

The only damage that the "Apocalypse" did was that I lost an "f".

My oldest son who is in the Guard was sent a new vest and a bunch of stuff in case the crazies go overboard tomorrow and they need Guard backup.

I'm just staying home and away from all this. lol

<display ashamed face>

A friend of mine has actually taken precautions. He denies a belief that the world will actually end, but thinks that some nutcase (as noted above) will chose the day to take out the power grid or something, triggering massive riots. He bought a supply of survivorlist paraphernalia and has headed out of town. He's going to Laughlin, NV with the rationale that should the power grid go down, Laughlin will be OK due to their proximity to Hoover Dam (he figured Vegas would be a potential target). He told me, if necessary, he could get fish and fresh water from the nearby Colorado River. He's "planning" on coming back on Sunday.

But then, he also asked me if I wanted him to lay some bets for me at the casino -- which would be rather moot should there be no Sunday...

Anyone else??

I don't know anyone that has gone that far, but I know a fair number of people who are planning on avoiding public places where people gather in case there is someone trying to make the world end, at least locally for however many people they can get before the cops show up.

I'm more likely to try to avoid anyone that didn't go Christmas Shopping until the 22nd dawned. I'm expecting Black Friday style desperation and what that drives people to.

Yes, I wake up in the morning and the world is all heavenly white!

And I'm still quite alive.

So this is what afterlife is like, hmmm?

Well, the wind has been howling as if it wants to serve as first notice: we've got gusts around 50 mph here. The drizzle it's hard-driving doesn't add much of an exclamation point, though.

Buy those T-shirts!

Well, the EOW time just passed here, and it happened, the world ended.

Whoop-de-doo!

Unbeknownst to everyone but the most perceptive, the world ended and was immediately replaced with a self-aware simulation, courtesy of a collaboration between NASA, Curie Labs, the folks at the Hadrian Collider, DreamWorks, Pixar, and the CIA (naturally).

Nice job, seamlessly done.

They could have fixed one or two social, diplomatic, and fiscal problems while they were at it, but still, nice job. Lesson learned for next time.

Exactly when do the Aztecs predict the EOW?

I heard if you get a really good vibrator and set it as high as it'll go, you can be transported to another universe.

Not sure how many batteries that requires.

A pair of rechargeable DD's should do it...

(PG-13 pic with the nipples hidden from view.)

Unlike bra sizes, the more letters in the battery sizes, the smaller it is.

Some fun stuff friends have sent me recently:

"When future generations find our calendars, they're probably going to think we anticipated the end of existence annually on December 31st."

"Breaking news: End of World, which was scheduled for 2012, has been postponed until 3012 due to technical problems."

"Don't worry, Mayans. If you get it wrong, it's not the end of the world."

I wonder how long it will take until we get a "revised" date. Sigh. I feel really sorry for all the little kids out there that hear this crap and get scared. The end of the world was supposed to happen quite a few times already in my lifetime but thankfully, I didn't find out about the ones that were scheduled when I was a kid until just recently. If I had know, I would've driven my poor parents crazy. That's the kind of kid I was.

And, there was no keeping kids from hearing about it. It was everywhere. I even saw a Jello pudding commercial that might have been funny to adults, but I could see little kids watching it and thinking "well, if Jello pudding believes in it, it must be true". Jello pudding commercials from my childhood were Bill Cosby eating pudding and/or Jello while making yummy faces and dancing.

Chillaxin with Agman, man! March 2012

There's more than enough real-life scary out there for kids nowadays. They don't need this crap, too.

Everytime I turn around, it seems as if someone is predicting the end of the earh!.....Sigh

I guess they feel they're going to be right sooner or later!......I wonder, however, if they will be happy with the cost of their "correctness"

A special on people who totally buy into the YAFA, set up for it by blowing out their savings, running up their credit cards, destroying all connections and burning every bridge behind them -- then have to wake up the next day and deal with all the self-created debris. And continue to deal with it the day after that, and the day after that, and pretty much for the rest of their current lives because their idea of prepping for the end screwed up the entire middle and beyond.

And imagine the computer graphics showing their financial future imploding!

"December 22nd arrives."
Posted by Estee on 12-22-12 at 11:12 AM
Then again, the original prediction was for the 23rd, so expect one more day of lightly scattered idiocy before the credit retrieval begins.
