"Halloween Costume"
Posted by kidflash212 on 09-30-12 at 03:03 PM
Haven't done the costume thing in years but this year I am expected to wear a costume to work.Suggestions? It's the workplace so it can't have an actual mask or be too revealing.

Go with a classic, in blue or in black.http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=299877
The mask can be drawn on.

Don't think I want to wear a trench coat the whole day.

But if a drawn on mask would even be out of the question, there's always --http://www.hyperborea.org/flash/jay.html
Look at it this way, at least you don't have to try to find yellow boots.

Go into work as a telecommuter. Pajamas, Robe, slippers, various electronics to keep you in touch with the office.

I usually wear boxers and an old tee shirt to bed. Might fall under revealing.

Get a set of red long handles (long underwear) and a white knit cap, make a paper sign in the shape of a Heinz bottle label, and go as a bottle of catsup.
If long underwear wouldn't be considered apropos for your work place, wear a pair of red shorts (or pants) with it.
Red face paint could top it off.
You would need a long overcoat for the trip to/from work.

As long as there was no trap door in the back, I could get away with it. Still, I hate wearing red.
"RE: Halloween Costume"
Posted by kingfish on 10-01-12 at 07:36 PM
If they make green redhandles (?) you could go as relish. In any case, I vote for a condiment of some kind. Or you could organize a few friends and go as a spice cabinet. Salt could have a sailor hat and bell bottoms, pepper could be - no, that'd probably not pass the PC test, but Oregano could be speak in an Italian accent, Poppy seed could act all druggy, Saffron could be a slinky drop dead gorgeous friend in a slinky drop deag gorgeous outfit,...the list goes on, bacon bits, Colonel Mustard, and Arabic Humus, New Orleans accented speaker as file or Prudhomme’s blackemned spice… everyone with a spice label and a resemblence to the spice.

Can you team up with another employee and go as:
Mustard and a hotdog
characters from Alice in Wonderland
A banana and a peach
Two superheroes
Fred and Wilma Flintstone
Peanuts characters...like Woodstock, Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy
Wizard of Oz characters
Addams Family
King, Queen, and/or Joker from a deck of cards
3 people go as the Olympics medals: gold, silver, and bronze
types of candy, like candy kisses, M & M's, tootsie rolls or lollipops
Disney characters
There's also the cat in the hat, a crayon, a smurf (do you like blue better than red?), Harry Potter-these shouldn't be too difficult to do.
"RE: Halloween Costume"
Posted by kidflash212 on 09-30-12 at 06:08 PM
As management, teaming up with anyone might be perceived as favoritism. I like blue better but a 6'2 smurf sounds scary even to me.

Use face paint and blacken one eye, take a white t-shirt and draw a capital P on it. Voila, a black eyed p. If you get a friend to do it too, then you are black eyed peas. Grey sweatpants and sweatshirt, paint face yellow, write slow or dip or x-walk on your face, take a square cardboard lid and paint it yellow, cut a face sized hole in it, put your face in it and you are a roadsign. It's a bit cumbersome.
Paint skull features on face, wear a tie dye shirt, some weird pants, you are a deadhead.
If you have someone at work who has a signature style, copy it and go as them. This works best if it is someone of the opposite sex and they have a good sense of humour.

I would be hideous in drag.I will be at work all day and a cumbersome costume would be difficult.

Depending on how daring you are ---1) Go as Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate (or, perhaps his altered Hawaiian birth certificate...)
No political implications, but worthy of consideration:
2) An NFL replacement ref (with Foot Locker employment app)
3) This guy
"RE: Halloween Costume"
Posted by kidflash212 on 09-30-12 at 10:02 PM
Political costumes are out.By Halloween, I think the replacement refs will be forgotten.
I have a pair of David Wright's game used pants and a Met jersey. I could go as him. But not Sheldon.

It wasn't 'ratty'. It also wasn't exactly elegant. ;)As long as you have your towel - you will be OK.
And ask for pan galactic gargleblasters to drink (it's like having your brain crushed by a brick with a twist of lime - I'm just paraphrasing from memory)

A road.
black sweats and sweat shirt, white tape for lines, small dollar store cars, trucks tacked on (a couple of stitches should do). Dollar stores usually have plastic signs in toy aisle as well -- often in the same package as the cars, those can be tacked on as well.

Have you decided on a Halloween costume yet? I'm trying to figure out a way to go as the Barclays Center. Theoretically some ugly rust-colored fabric and cobalt blue lettering is all I need, but how exactly do I construct a costume?Anyway, you can feel free to use the idea if you want, since I won't be at your office party. But if you do, tell me how you made your costume.
