"Three things."

I haven't been around much and feel I owe a post. And I'm practicing report-writing avoidance right now.

So, give me a list of three things. Any topic goes. You don't even have to tell me the topic of your list if you want to be mysterious.

Three things I need this summer:
1. Laser hair removal. I'm on a mission to try this.
2. Trip to the used bookstore. Just borrowed a Kindle to read "Mockingjay" and I didn't love the Kindle enough to buy one anytime soon.
3. Rain. It's terribly dry here and I'm getting sick of watering. Next week looks promising.

I haven't been around much either. Life.

3 Things I will do this weekend, dammit

1. Buy a bike (Ex-DH took mine when he left.)
2. Ride my new bike (Yay, exercise! I need it.)
3. Install a new element for my oven so that I can bake.

So you will be biking and baking. Have fun!

We have a couple of bikes we need to sell or get rid of, and they are practically new. Too bad you don't live closer.

Hello everybody!

Holy heck, it took me 3 tries to type that little message up there. I had coffee with actual caffeine in it and now I'm all buzzy...

Complete failure on all counts. The only thing I did that I can remember is dinner at my Dad's for Father's Day. Surely I did something on Saturday...

Gah. My memory!

1. In direct contrast, a Kindle Fire with accompanying Amazon Prime membership, by the end of summer. It's time.

2. A salon visit. I like my hair long (and so do most other people, at least for the ones who can be bothered for a positive opinion), but when summer hits, it's trimming time.

3. Sun. Most of the past week has been humid with rain chances cropping up virtually every day: I've been forced to turn the AC on just for use as an air scrubber. A little clear and dry will do wonders for both morale and electric bill.

You will love the Amazon Prime membership. We use it everyday just to watch movies and tv shows.

Hey Wellie.

1. Fix the toilet. Tired of holding it in, anal retentiveness isn't the romantic experience it's been built up to be.

2. Fix the A/C. Summer in AL is not fun without A/C. I think I had a coolant leak, guys are due this evening.

3. Checkout "Mockingjay". Must be a prequel/sequel to "Hunger Games"?

Edit: Just to demonstrate what a can do/will do kind of guy I am, Mockingjay is the third book of the series. Am currently in book two. Also, am in love with the Kindle. Wish I had gone for the Fire, and I may yet do so. I have expressed my hatred of my friends with IPads, so that path is closed to me now.

Silvergirl's Silly Summer List:

1. Break up with my secret boyfriend, which is harder than it sounds, because we never talk.

2. Go swimming in one of the 2 public pools in our town. It only costs $3 for me to get in.

3. Decide whether I want to take this summer course in the Fundamentals of Music or drop it for later. The tuition is free, but it will still cost $106.30 for other fees, plus most likely I will need to buy a textbook for the course. It's an online course, though, so I won't have to travel to school much.

It's OK, secret girlfriend. I enjoyed our romantic non-walks in the park, our lack of book enthusiasm exchanges, and the coffees we didn't drink together.

I can take it, and I sort of understand if you've found another fantasy boyfriend that fulfills you in ways that I couldn't. Mainly because we never met.

You were a pleasant non-chapter in my life, and so I wish you the best.

We can still be friends, I hope.

Actually, Kingfish is not my real secret boyfriend, but you could go ahead and give it a whirl. I'd hate to discourage such a promising non-relationship.

I did manage to break up with my real secret boyfriend, but as it turns out, he didn't even notice.

Which is just as well, because he's not my type of secret boyfriend anyway. He actually wanted to come out of the closet with our relationship. He really need kingfish to give him some secret boyfriend lessons.

1. I have turned to wringing my hands to avoid wringing anyone's neck - at work or at home.

2. Today I ate the damn croutons on my salad. They sucked. I kept eating them hoping it was just a fluke.

3. I have been surrounded by the number 47 lately. That, combined with the Redskins moving training camp to Richmond has me thinking a Cooley encounter is in my future.

- have a tent sleep with my youngest. Maybe backyard, but likely at the cottage
- have a family canoe/kayak day trip. Has to be long enough to require packing a lunch!
- fix my personal schedule. Need to exercise more (have started doing this already), FB game less, and sleep more!

And laser hair removal sounds painful. They have to laser zap each hair follicle, right?

Unibrow, chin, or upper lip? Knuckles? OK. Kinda of falls into the required column.

Arms? Legs? Chest? Back? OK.

Underarm? A little less OK, but still OK.

Down there? You are a braver person than I.

Write that report!

1. If you are someone's alibi, s/he's also yours. This can come in very, very handy.
2. No one know how to brew a decent iced tea here.
3. If you really desperate determined, you can remove a cork from a wine bottle with a screw and a pair of pliers.

"RE: Three things."
Posted by Starshine on 06-15-12 at 06:50 AM
2. No-one outside of the UK knows what a decent cup of tea is.

3. I find it easier to push the cork into the bottle.

2. True.
3. True, but my way was better than the suggested alternative of smashing the bottle neck against the counter.

I never found a decent glass of Iced tea in London. They don't use ice much, as far as I can tell.

One cube per glass.

If you want good iced tea, brewed and prepared right, come to the South.

Except for the fact that it's always sweet tea, which is an abomination against nature.

Here, iced tea is always sweetened and rarely 'real' brewed tea. It's a PITA to have to go to starbucks or any other coffee joint and patiently explain to them that they can just brew some tea, give me a glass of ice and I'll do the rest.

Splenda makes it good calorie-wise/bloodshgar wist too.

But not taste wise...

(Unsweetened matches those calorie and bloodsugar goals just fine, thankyouverymuch)

"OH MY GAWD!!!"
Posted by qwertypie on 06-18-12 at 11:18 AM
Last night I went into a Second Cup (a Canadian coffee chain) and asked if they had unsweetened brewed iced tea. Yes, yes they do. I exclaimed loudly at that "Fantastic!!! I am so happy I found a place that has unsweetened iced tea." The barista (baristo?) asked if I wanted lemon with that because it tastes really good with lemon. "Sure," I replied. I get to my table and look at the tea and there are 'syrup legs' mixing around in the tea. I taste it -- BLEECH! I bring it back and ask if he put lemon syrup in the tea. "Why, yes!" was his enthusiastic reply. I then had to explain to him that a) I definitely didn't want it and b) even though I did say he could put lemon in it, I assumed he meant a real lemon and if he said anything resembling the word 'syrup' I would have stopped him right away. I finally convinced him to brew me a cup of earl grey and stick a bunch of ice in it.

In addition to the fact I do not like sweetened tea, that industrial lemon syrup crap they pass off as tasty is just wrong on so many levels. Come to think of it, I probably got charged for the shot.

1. the coworker wasn't in today, so i didn't get a chance to ask her out. there's always next week.

2. while biking home in rush hour traffic, the freaking pedal on the bike i bought 10 days ago, breaks off. i nearly died. it was promptly returned to the store which shall remain nameless and i will be looking elsewhere for a new one.

2. As I grow older, I have less opportunity to say "I don't think this is a good idea" to my friends. Not sure if this is good or bad. There are a lot of good/funny memories that started with those words.

3. I love Dairy Queen mini ice cream cakes - they are so good.

Three things I need this summer:

1. For my face to clear up. I had another outburst about a month ago and went for a (speaking of lasers) laser facial. Really I'm way too old for this to be happening. But I keep telling myself everyone will think I'm a teenager, so there's a bright side.

2. For my sister to become less of a pain in the neck. That's actually not strictly a summer problem, but events of this past weekend made me realize that it needs to be fixed posthaste.

3. A job. But -- at the very end of the summer. I could even wait till fall on that one. I've been having a fine time chillaxing, while doing my chorale singing (our concerts were this past weekend; #2 ties in here), and taking my paralegal classes.
