Yikes, they found the body of someone that's been missing for a few years almost 1.5 miles from my house.

He killed her between when he committed the crime and was tried for the reason he's in prison now. They are trying to link some other deaths around here to him.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47602564

Even one of those linked to him should make that 40 years be a lot longer, hopefully.

Yikes!

That's shivery creepy close.

Long Island has one, too-11 bodies discovered at the beach since 2010 with no arrests yet, but it's a bit of a hike to that beach from here. Still, you never can tell where this person is from. I was going to sleep with the windows open tonight.

Yeesh, that's spooky that it was so close to where you are.

I'm reminded of a friend of ours who lived a few houses down from the infamous Bernardo-Homolka house - in fact, she said she could see the house from her bedroom's window. Hard to imagine that something like that could literally happen right under your nose.

It's really hard to wrap my mind around the fact that that monster is free and has a child. So horribly unfair and sickening.

Speak of the devil (literally)...

Not sure if the story is known, but Karla is now free because of the sweetheart deal she struck with the prosecutors to testify against Paul Bernardo after claiming she was coerced by Paul into taking part in the killings. Of course it was later found out there was a videotape of the murders that showed Karla was fully complicit. I guess we now know where Luka Magnotta learned how to take apart body parts and have it preserved on video.

(Whoops, fixed the link. I discovered that tablet pages are formatted differently from regular pages so the links are changed accordingly - so while it shows up perfectly on a tablet, it appears as a broken link on a computer)

THE REQUESTED DOCUMENT COULD NOT BE FOUND.

http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/notorious/bernardo/index_1.html

38 damn pages, whu??? Paul must be a special maniac.

After all, she did not want to kill her own sister; she just wanted to knock her out and give her to Paul for Christmas.

Got as far as page 11 and gave up.

Disgusting.

Yeah, I've believed for a long time that Karla is worse and more dangerous than Paul ever was - I'm amazed the parole folks and psychiatrists fell for her act when it was known she studied psychology in university and in fact had asked specific questions about understanding the battered woman syndrome before meeting the psychiatrists.

Prosecutors, attorneys, police officers, psychiatrists, parole folks, families, employers, boyfriends ... they all got sucked in by Karla's act.

Here's a link that works regarding Luka Magnotta which just broke yesterday.

A foot was mailed to the Conservative party headquarters and a hand was found in a post office addressed to the Liberals. The case just keeps getting stranger and stranger.

I'm really not sure giving the bear a death sentence serves as a deterrent to the other bears.

Do you know what the dumbass was doing at the moment he was arrested?

Such a DAW... he spent a whole hour at an internet cafe in Berlin reading up on his exploits when he was approached by a few German police cadets! Couldn't have made it easier for the cafe employee to identify him by having his picture up on the screen while he was looking at it...

Way way too close, this is a link to a book written about a family down the street from me. The truly creepy part is that it didn't come out for a while. The mother directed her sons first in 81 to kill their father (crossbow "accident"), then their Grandmother (dismembered and disposed of during long drives) for her social security checks. Again not discovered for a long time.
Mommy dearest is still in prison, sons were still young teenagers at the time.

This was 2 blocks away

There was another incident about another 6 blocks down the road where an old girlfriend set fire to her x's house both he and his new girlfriend died.

I should wonder about the water around here, right?

I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too.

Creepy story, and the sons are free? I'm not sure I believe one can be coerced into killing someone without already being a little twisted to begin with.

Way back when, Son of Sam killed a woman in Forest Hills, not far from where I was living. I remember the fear and paranoia that went on during that time.

*sigh*

Very sad to see this sort of news anywhere, but personally especially where I live.

Clearly there was some sort of criminal activity, but they can't classify it as murder, since they can't determine the cause of death (yet?). Is that what the insurance companies means by "Accidental Death and Dismemberment"??

Another murder here. Seems to be more gang-related violence, and that is a very bad thing.

Not to make light of anyone's death, but what are the chances of a guy with surname Farah getting killed on a street called Fawcett Trail??

Police in London Ontario have a manhunt on for Ronald MacDonald. Let's hope it's not long before he is apprehended and put behind arches. No word if The Hamburglar was involved.

Many people get in trouble with the law, and get no media. But if one's name is Ronald MacDonald there is a pretty good chance the media will pick up the story.
