A New Jersey woman arrested for allegedly putting her 5-year-old daughter in a tanning booth says it was all a big misunderstanding.

Patricia Krentcil, 44, told NBC's local New York affiliate that she took her daughter with her to a local tanning salon but that the child was not exposed to the booth's synthetic UV rays.
"I tan, she doesn't tan," Krentcil said. "I'm in the booth, she's in the room. That's all there is to it."

Krentcil, of Nutley, N.J., was arrested last week, and charged Tuesday with felony child endangerment. She was released on a $25,000 bond and is due in court Wednesday.

I agree with you on the mental disorder. It's the only thing that makes sense to me, too. I feel bad for the daughter, whether she actually tanned or not.

i think she cooked more than a few brain cells as well, the way she seemed to struggle to put words together.

The kid leather, please. I have a friend who used to leatherfy, and yes, she thought it looked good. I like being lightly tan if it happens but this is clearly an addiction. She looks like a burn victim.

She seems a lot darker in the video than the mug shot. Don't know if she added some bronzer to darken things more than her skin will go on itsown.

In the same vein - a local woman was arrested this week for burning her 15 month old baby boy's genitalia with a hair straightener. I know what I'd like to do with that hair straightener.
