Despair before the unstoppable vote-gathering power that is Wajaya!

No, seriously. Start despairing early and avoid the rush.

Why don't they have him dance to one of his songs? I mean, if you can use a hip-hop song for a Samba, the Star Wars theme for a Tango, and classic songs turned into something weird by the idjits masquerading as an orchestra, why can't they use one of Wayne's own songs for his dance of the week?

Yeah, I despair the blue-haired force that is Wayne's World. I also despair the one singer that refuses to stay on key.

A side note: I saw an old Jack Benny rerun where Wayne was a young teen making his show biz debut. He was amazingly talented, whipping from one musical instrument to the next, playing all like an established pro. Kinda sad seeing him ending up like this.

Will training more hours than any other season save them?

Drew still filling in for Samantha.

Either the Tango or the Jive.

Doing the Jive.

She is in a short black dres with way too many electric blue petticoats

Len. As always you came out full bore giving it your all. There were some great jive steps and some bizzare free willie things. Your best dance ever.

Bruno. You are like a seismic event with aftershocks. It is true your power is incredible. Everything is 110%.

Carrie Ann. I thought you were going to overpower the dance, but you did not. It suits you, it is young and vibrant.

Doing the Tango.

Oy, I forgot how weird her dress was last week.

Not sure about doing a tango to this song.

He carries her to the judges.

Carrie Ann. I am a little surprised and it was kind of G-rated. I liked it. I liked that you took a chance and went opposite and I liked your posture.

Len. You have got great posture and you've got a great hold. For me it lacked the character of the tango.

Bruno keeps interrupting.
Lady killer, Alpha male all the way through.

Len, it had too much attack, not enough slow.

I didn't care much for their tango. The whole thing in the beginning was a little much and the tango was boring.Liked Edyta's dress though.

Not sure about doing a tango to this song.

Agree. Now that we know that neither the star nor the dancer have a choice in the song, I wonder why this song was chosen instead of a more passionate tango-like number. This one is right up there with that Star Wars travesty last year.

I think he looked like he was in some pain with that.

Bruno. Lot of polish and I can see you are more in control and you were cleaner. You started well, but you lost it. Not bouncing all over the place. Be a bit lighter on your feet.

Carrie Ann. You have the least experience. Watch your shoulders you are like you are imitating someone dancing and don't use your face so much.

Len. Did a great job with the choreography. You entertain and that is a key. You lost your timing a little bit and it is very difficult to keep it. I can see a development.

Doing the Tango.

Jennie took last week very hard. Derek tells her the Tango is perfect to get that anger out with.

Dancing to ????

She is in a black dress with lots of straps in the back and lots of slits.

"RE: Jennie Garth and Derek"
Posted by Snidget on 10-08-07 at 08:12 PM
Len. I don't want to refer to last week, but the charm is that it is live. What comes out comes out, and what came out tonight was sharp and tangy like a pickle. Sometimes you lost the posture and there was a few heel leads missing.

Carrie Ann. Standing O and a kiss. I thought it was passionate and elegant with intricate moves very well done.

Bruno. This was the call back of the season. You are like a Fury, don't cry for me Argentina.

Doing the Jive.

Dancing to SWEET SOUL MUSIC

"RE: Melanie Brown and Maksim"

Nice set of pretzel turns.

Bruno. The bouncing bombshell, excitement on leg. This is a very difficult dance with control. You do keep the control, very good job.

Len. You came out all guns blazing. Tonight B is for bounce. That was your best dance.

Carrie Ann. All the things they said I agree with.

I was worried this would be awful, as they placed right after Jennie's comeback.

I was really surprised how well Mel B. is trying. I don't think she's so scary, I'm pulling for her;

She actually comes across as trying harder than Sabrina, IMHO.

Doing the Tango.

He has some...um...fan problems.

They took a visit to the ranch. I love Arabian Horses.

Dancing to. Oh, some well known song, which opera is it from or something?

She is in a black dress with red ruffles.

"RE: Wayne Newton and Cheryl"
Posted by Snidget on 10-08-07 at 08:30 PM
Carrie Ann. I love the look you created a character, brought it to life and stayed with it. It felt sometimes that Cheryl was leading you.

Bruno. Lot of time and effort in the look. Errol Flynn and Captain Hook. Sometimes she was leading the dance, so you have to take over. We are getting somewhere.

Len. Glad you got rid of that hat. Cat from Shrek. You got into the Gaucho and Lady of the night. You spent so much time on the character and the dance disappeared. Good job liked the style.

Lots of energy.

Len. You talk the talk can you dance the dance, you can. It was fun and it was energetic. Don't practice in tennis shoes so you get used to pointing your toes.

Carrie Ann. Was a knock out with energy, need to work on the structure, just a little bit more detail.

Bruno. You have so much potential you have rhythm and musical you have to control your feet. You can do anything you want, just please do it.

Bruno. I would like to say for myself and the judges that our hearts have been with you all week. You came out with a performance worthy of a silent movie queen.

Len. The Tango is an actors dance and so much acting and sexual tension. That could have been on pay per view.

Carrie Ann. I just witness a special moment see you put your heart and soul into a gorgeous dance.

Limps over to the judging. He tore his pants on that last slide.

Carrie Ann. You OK? What I love is your fun is contagious. But tonight you have some tough competitors. Sometimes you are brilliant but sometimes you crumble in a little.

Bruno. You are a charmer, you raised the bar so high but you were not as clean and precise as you usually are.

Might be "Dancing the Tango"?

Len. Marvelous musical interpretation, you make each dance so much fun. At first I thought you wouldn't be good, you are elegant. You need to lift your ribcage a bit.

Carrie Ann. You reminded me of Lucille Ball in a good way. There is a fine line with camp and it worked for you.

Bruno. You are a mistress of characters. Each step had a face, but it was right and not slapstick. The Meryl Strep of Dance.

I feel that the scores seem too generous for this early in the competition. Anyone agree?

"RE: Leaderboard"
Posted by Snidget on 10-09-07 at 06:32 AM
Well pretty much every one of them, IMO, stepped it up so getting better than sevens for a lot of them did seem reasonable and you can't just give everyone 8's.

I seem to remember around this time (maybe a bit later) last year I think it was the feeling from the judges were the dancers were not putting the time in to train like they should (and given they have what 3-4 weeks before the show starts this would be where you start getting some burn out).

This set of stars seem to be more than willing to put in whatever time is needed to get better each week so I suspect the scores would be a bit higher than some other years this early in the competition.

"BillyRay & Hannah?"

I've never watched Hannah Montana - just seen it listed in the tv listings so I have no idea what it/she is/does.
But, I had no idea she was Billy Ray's daughter!
I may have to watch tomorrow night just to see this.

"RE: BillyRay & Hannah?"
Posted by dragonflies on 10-09-07 at 10:47 AM
She is a teenie popper. Young girls love her. She is trying to break away from the Hannah Montana look and be more Mylie Cyrus, which makes sense.

DD can't wait, as she loves her. Her concert sold out here faster and for higher priced tickets than The Lion King. Go Figure.

It sold out like crazy here, too.

Some parents are upset because it seems like way too many of the tickets sold in the couple of minutes before it sold out went to resellers/scalpers and not parents of kids.

One of the Charlotte tickets supposedly sold for over $2K

Yes, well done, thanks for the step by step (no pun intended)! We on the west coast appreciate it, especially if we're trying to avoid certain painful moments that we KNOW will more than likely happen. Like train wrecks, car accidents, and Mr. Newton's fake moustache...
