What's honestly bothering me right now? The judges. I got more good lines from the rejections on Next Best Thing than I'm seeing from this trio. The comedy is showing up in the wrong place.

I'm also looking for more second-chancers from last season -- Kaitlin's one, Willie Parsons would be a good return -- and so far, it's been Gerry and no one else. Not a good sign: some of those people needed another shot.

I don't even know how the Bobby Knight guy made it to the callbacks. I don't want to know what Ms. Throat-Popper did to reach the evening.

Some of the Ozites have to be better than this, right? Right?

Right, comedy is subjective, got it. Maybe that's why I feel like the best talent from the LA pool got left behind. It's just my subjective reaction to a very subjective thing.

Or maybe the judges just screwed up.

Wait. In Australia, you might say that one all the time. After listening to that selection, I'm willing to bet their fingers waltz to a different Matilda. Did anyone understand half of that? What are these people speaking? Oh, right. It's Australia. They're speaking Beer.

Right now, it feels like the Australian comics have been able to work a little edgier (and cleaner) than the US ones. Maybe that's the benefit of living in a country whose FCC hasn't gone insane.
