Gilby really got on my nerves the last show. It bothered me that he went on and on at Jill for gyrating behind him when she was singing and he was playing guitar. I do not like Jill, I thought what she did looked kind of stupid, and would agree with most that she needs to go. However, I thought it was wrong that he sat in to play guitar on her song and then had the nerve to crap all over her. I will also add that I thought he sounded terrible. I got the impression that he thought "Brown Sugar" was his big shining moment and Jill somehow ruined it for him and his ego was damaged. He selfishly did not seem to realize that the song was her time to have HER moment on stage. (Like her or not)
Someone on another thread asked "Does Gilby wear a wig?" So funny, I also think his hair looks queer with his dyed color job and eighties style. He should take some lessons from Tommy on keeping it real. Gilby is the only one of the group that I had never heard of, now I know why. I just had to go off on what a jerk he seems to be.

I don't see him as a jerk at all. Jill botherd me when she started dry humping him on stage so I can only imagine his irritation since it was his body she was grinding. He's honest in his critiques as he should be. I don't want any suger coating wastless comments like Paula Abdul gives. Tommy's comments on the other hand are usually lame and give no constructive critisism that the performers can learn from. Gilby has earned his right to speak his mind and be blunt to these contestants. Rock On!

No. You're not alone on this.

I think he's extremely egotisitcal. And not the way insecure people sometimes come off.....I think this guy truly thinks he's the greatest.

I thought the first time when he addressed Jill's grinding him in Brown Sugar....he was somewhat diplomatic when he said "she doesn't have to do that....she's got enough going for her"....but enough already. There was no reason to bring it up again.

I never thought about him wearing a wig. Just saw it as bad hair.....

I felt bad when he came off the stage and the guys were high fiving him instead of giving Jill the props. Not a Jill fan myslef...but I agree that it was her moment.

That's exactly what I thought. He was right to bring it up when critiquing her performance but at the results show I was like, get over yourself already!

Again, I'm also not a Jill fan but I felt the same way. He was so proud of himself for that (lame) performance.

I agree with everyone who says he has a right to critique the Rockers as it is his band they are auditioning for. I got the feeling that he felt Jill made HIM look bad on stage and that is what he was so bent out of shape about.
It's a shame because the Rockers probably won't want the band members to perform with them from now on because of fear they will be egomaniacal jerks like Gilby. I think the other guys would be more gracious anyway.

They did the same thing when Jason played with Phil (it was Phil, wasn't it?) the week before, IIRC.

They did. But they also gave Phil props. That's simply because Phil was good and Jill was not.

I personally said 'Damn right' when he slammed her for going the cliched route of humping. How overdone is that? I dind't know much about Gilby prior to this other than for some time he played with G&R, but i like the guy. I think he's the most honest and gives the best critiques of the group, usually.

I think he has every right to say whatever he wants to. They're looking for their lead singer.

Well, what gets me about Gilby is he talks like he was a major component of Guns N Roses. The fact of the matter is he wasn't. He was brought in after one of the original guitarists left the band. He was a late replacement for him on the Illusion lps and doubt he had much input in them because GNR is Axels band. Gilby was more involved with the Speghetti Incident which was a total bomb for GNR. Personally I didn't even really know he was in GNR til it got beat into me. Slash and Izzy were the main guitarists for that band. I think it was Matt who said he had GNR posters on his wall....I would almost bet that his posters were with Izzy and Slash rather than Gilby. Does anyone know if Gilby was given any writing credits for GNR? I doubt it.

I don't think he's a jerk at all. At least not for that. She followed him around the stage humping him. It was uncomfortable to watch. Imagine what it felt like for him.

I haven't seen this week's episodes yet, but hope to watch them on msn tonight, so I can't really comment on Gilby this week (although I have seen the reality episode from this week and liked him). That said, I couldn't STAND Gilby at first. He bugged the crap out of me. As the season has progressed, though, I've found myself liking him more and more. On this week's reality ep, his comment about his daughter and then his exuberant "Anyone want to go see a movie?" (or something like that) were just totally endearing. He's sort of a geek among rockers, and I like that.

I find myself agreeing with Gilby most of the time. Actually, Jason too. I've even agreed with Tommy when he slips & forgets to be a pig for a minute.

Jill absoluetly needed to be called on that. Watching it, within 10 seconds I was yelling at the TV, "Leave that man alone!" It just looked stupid. And yeah - cheap.

Plus, the whole respect thing...yeah, it's a rock song, performance, blah blah blah -- but he's still one of the guys she's auditioning for.

And BTW, for performers, it's generally expected & appreciated that you give someone a heads-up if you're going to be physical with them on stage. "Hey, in that scene/song, at that moment...I'd like to grab your shoulders -- you OK with that?" Especially the first (and probably last) time you're on stage with them.

She's the jerk. And an idiot.

I agreed with Gilby on that. I was a bit disgusted seeing her grind all on him. And us woman wonder why we are never taken seriously...hmmm wonder why that is? I think a woman can use her sexuality in a respectful way and I think Storm and Dilana are prime examples of that. The guy felt uncomfortable with her rubbing up against him in a sexual manner, nothing wrong with that, if the shoe was on the other foot would anyone care to call the woman a jerk? Besides, from what I got out of it, Gilby was criticizing Jill's actions and not her vocals and he also complimented her by saying she was too good for that. If he wanted to be a jerk he would have told her she was nothing but a whore who is trying to sing and kick her butt to the curb. But hey that's just my opinion and take on the whole situation.

lol. Poor Gilby scurried off when Jill got carried away with the humping. Air grinding is one thing, but to subject anyone to such unsolicited sexualised physical contact is going overboard. Imagine if the roles were reversed, double standards exist alright.

My only beef with Gilby is that while it was in his every right to protest, he could have more diplomatic in his choice of words.

oh yeah. And another thing. I don't think this part made it on the air.
Gilby told her when she threw the mic stand, it hit him on the hand. Her answer? "I didn't know you were there." He scoffed and said, "Exactly." She didn't know her lead guitarist was standing right behind her? That isn't "band" mentality. She's a total solo artist. Or, as somebody called Storm, a "Spice Girl". If there's somebody on this show that is 100% not right for the "band", it's Jill.

I would imagine that would come with practice and familiarity. And I think everyone is forgetting to take "nerves" into account.

I agreed with his comments at first, but after the total hammering the poor girl got the next night, I felt the guys were the jerks. Why does no one call Tommy Lee out when he makes sexual innuendos to the girls on stage?

Gilby hangs in Vegas a lot. I don't know him well at all but he's married and on a tight leash. He's whipped. That's the only reason he would say that. Loosen up Gilby. It's Rock and Roll. Sex is part of it.

He is a bit of a prick. Not as bad as some rock stars but he's a sober, business first guy with an attitude. He wasn't even the first choice for this 'tv band'. Slash was. He backed out so they went with Gilby. That part I got from another rocker you would know who lives in Vegas too.

Heart was awesome. There only problem was the dark haired Wilson sister's weight problem, and the friction it caused with the record company's marketing. But they made great music and she has a tremendous voice. She also shows up in strange but interesting places like the Alice In Chains SAP EP singing backing vocals.

As far as I'm concerned, she asked for that hammering. She's outrageously argumentative, and then brushes it off by saying "I'm Italian." (One of my Italian co-workers was quite miffed by that.)

And yes, nerves can account for some of her on-stage idiocy -- but this isn't supposed to be an amateur competition. These people are experienced enough that they should know where people are on stage. The fact that she didn't, to me, is a really bad sign.

I think Jill could have at least apologized when she hit Gilby. But she didn't. She just got defensive. I don't blame him for getting fed up with her. She was in the wrong and wouldn't admit it.

I caught up on all the eps this weekend and NO, I don't think Gilby is a jerk. I think he's being honest, and for the most part is doing it politely as possible.

I don't think he is a jerk but I too thought it was unnecessary to bring it up in the Wednesday elimination show.
