"AI 11 Top 5 Results ECST"

Five are left, who will go home tonight?

Will Carrie-bot have a chip upgrade for tonight's performance?

Keep the answers to those questions and more on this thread until the West Coast realizes they didn't change their fun office pool entries from the defaults.

There was a vaguely entertaining article on Carrie in this week's EW, talking about how now that she's found true love, she knows that she's really good at songs about -- infidelity. That's her wheelhouse. Because love is just no fun to sing about. And even the infidelity got kicked up a notch, because she's gone from keying the exes' car to teaming up with another woman and hunting him down with a shotgun. Such a nice woman, really. Stay loyal, new husband. Or else.

As for the elimination -- general feeling is that the show might be trying to sabotage PSquared by showing his girlfriend (which does seem to have produced an adverse reaction) and giving him the closest thing to underpraise in this season of You Have Saved Me Because You Are Jesus. He's also low-tracking on DialIdol (not that it means anything these days) and the Worsters report virtually no busy signals on his line.

But he's still WGWG. I'm not going to believe that bullet's going in until I see the green glow.

He might go, I think they may be tired of the "and not a single f*** was given" attitude. A bit of that can be refreshing and different, but a bit too much and it can be deadly. We will see if the buses they have lined up will back over him or not, but I hear them revving their engines.

His 'I am passing both three weeks of constipation and five kidney stones at the same time' faces can't be helping either, not to mention the difficulty of saying he's doing something so different when he pulls out the same act every week. (The field as a whole is guilty on the later, but his case has become extra-visible.) It's just hard to see him losing because -- well, see the last four years for details.

LAST EDITED ON 05-03-12 AT 08:28 PM (EST)

*nods*

I wonder if the refuses to do any of the Ford ads things is playing a role in this. At leas the other WGWG were at least seeming to make some effort to win the thing. But how much that will effect the WGWG bloc, I dunno.

ETA: Why did I doubt, the frau will not let him go. And Jimmy probably gave him the win tonight with the anyone else would have quit from being so sick thing.

Someone's moment ends tonight.

Usual judge and Ryan entrance.

Live with results, reveal the top four. That is not all. Coldplay here. Sounds like 2 performances by Carrie. Say hi to your top five.

top ten on tour if you forgot about that.

Kick it off with results

Joshua to center stage.

Jimmy says Joshua safe tonight. And amazed about learning a song in 15 minutes.

Dim the lights, Matt.

Joshua, you are safe, to the couches.

Randy is wearing the biggest whitest watch, evah! What is with his flare this season.

Hollie and P2.

Jimmy says Hollie is safe with one competent song and one knock it out of the park.

Jimmy says he's really feeling bad and anyone would quit. Should be in the bottom two, but probably won't be.

Jimmy gets boo'ed.

P2 gives his gum to Ryan when called out about chewing it. Ryan pretends to toss it to Jimmy.

P2 safe and Hollie in the bottom two.

GRRRR! This is all just so wrong! No WAY should P2 be staying after that horrible show last night! Did they say what's ailing him? Because, as I recall, during Hollywood week, a number of people were barfing their guts up & still performed. So, that's not an excuse.

He has recurrent kidney stones, but I dunno if you can have those for weeks on end, not sure what else may be going on with him.

I read that he has a kidney stent now for the stones and that having a kidney stent is very painful.

Someone help the poor kid change his diet.

Skylar--Clunky boots with a floaty mullet dress is not a good look.

Jimmy says she is a fighter. Could have understood the lyrics a little bit more. Jimmy didn't like the second performance, very strange.

Jessica. Jimmy says it turned into burlesque, says the stylists are torpedoing Jessica, thinks that will hurt her.

Dim the lights, here we go.

Jessica you are one step closer to the finale, you are safe.

Skylar in the bottom two tonight

Finding it just slightly amazing that after all these seasons, someone on the show brought up the sabotaging effects of Wardrobe. No wonder no one's seen Hilbugger in a few weeks.

Ah, AI has so many types of sabotage....from wardrobe to saddling someone with a song choice that does not fit them. Out of tune back up singers. Band screw ups. Someone whispering to them before they take the stage that they were flat in rehearsal so try not to be flat now. Showing swooning teen girls around the guys. Insisting on awkward choreography. Or loud band arrangements. Bringing the competition's grandmother into it...but ignoring your family...judges talking to one another and looking bored during your performance... so many tricks.

BTW, the show tried to give P2 a push this week. The majority of people booted at top 5 sing second. Phil sang second.

They showed his girlfriend for the first time.

They gave him luke warm praise instead of true feedback that would have revved up his fanbase.

He sang a song where he could not hit the high notes.

Hey, maybe even Phil wanted to go. (Doubt it, though.)

Did they just blow the entire confetti budget for the season?

"Yes..."
Posted by Estee on 05-03-12 at 08:54 PM
...so when P2 wins, they'll just drop anvils.

"Hard to see how this isn't Hollie. "

Gosh, next week's performance order may need some actual thought before assigning the death slot.

"I am so wrong."

So failing to understand the lyrics actually means something to the voters, or are we just in the Shocker! part of the script?

The irony, as just about always: she's probably the one with the best shot at a real career. The country industry may take her in -- gradually. But fifth place, and off she goes...

Dim the lights. nearly 60 million votes decided the person going home tonight is Skylar Laine.

...at keeping a straight face when the judges lie on that level.

Has Skylar sung that Little Girls are made of gunpowder and lead on Idol before?

We know she has guns, but would she use them for revenge?

Oh, CRAP!! Skylar rocked last night! Not that Hollie should have gone, either. Nobody except P2 should have been in the bottom this time! Oooooh, I'm POd!! >>((

She made a terrible song choice - Fortunate Son is a protest song, not a pop song. Her base probably didn't exactly like it. There's no way she connected with those lyrics - the trick of entertaining is that you must believe in what you sing. She failed miserably with that song.

I'm a big fan of Skyler's but I think she really missed and mark and I hate to say it deserved to go home this time.

ITA with the judges that this is the best top 5 AI has ever had.

This has been a strong season and very entertaining. It may be one of my favorite seasons to date. And it helps wash out part of the memory of the judges over praising Lauren Alaina every week last year all the way to second place.

Except for Jimmy, they're all doing basically the same thing with Jessica this year!
