What's on your wrist?

Would it like to say something nasty about whatever's on your other wrist?

My watch is broken. I need a new one. I've resorted to taking an egg timer to class to keep me on track.

I can't wear watches. I kill the battery within a week. I have never had a watch battery that lasted more than a week.

Okay... how do you kill the battery within a week? Corrosion from exposure to excess pooting?

What happens when you use a wind-up?

"RE: Watch watch."

Apparently there is something in my chemistry that doesn't work well with watch batteries. My cousin inlaw has the same problem. I had the same problem with my wind up watch.

I have a lot of cheapo watches that I rotate, but the one that gets the most attention is the pendant watch on a 30" chain. Someone even asked me where they could buy one. It was a Christmas catalog special from Roaman's.

Although I have a little mole on my right wrist, if you should ever need to identify my body.

I like bracelets, but am not a huge jewelry person. My nice watch battery died, and I never liked the style that much, so I never replaced it (it was a gift). I bought a cheapie once in a pinch, and the battery died in it, so it sits beside my other one, waiting for me to necessitate watch wearing again.

Nothing here either - except a few freckles.

Agree with you about the jewelry. And the watch, except I did like the style. And you should know, DH was "offended" by my first watch.

I don't wear a watch unless I'm working. I like a simple tank watch with roman numerals-I've got a couple of them. The EE gifted me a Movado that I used to wear regularly and pricier version that I don't wear very often, probably because it has gold around the face instead of silver. Not a yellow gold kinda person.

Ever since I worked in an ER, I've worn a watch. I'm right handed, so I wear my watch on my left wrist. My arm feels nekkid without it. It drives me nuts not knowing what time it is. I have clocks all around my house.

I have 3 watches that I rotate, and a few others that sit in my jewelry box.

1. A gold/silver combo Fossil for everyday wear. I've had this watch for a few years now.

2. A silver Skagan with a mother of pearl face. I wear this when I want a bit more than casual, but it is not covered in bling, so it is fine for everyday wear. I love Skagan because the face is very low profile, and I am always banging/catching my watch on stuff.

3. A wind up Smurf watch that a friend gave me in highschool. (Think early 1980's) It's silver on a stretch silver band. I think my daughter recently overwound it, and it's currently d.e.a.d. I doubt it would be worth the cash to get it fixed, but I might eventually.

No, the background of the face is yellow, and the smurf is blue with white pants and a white hat. It says SMURF TIME on either side of his body. His arms are tha hands of the watch. Sheesh, y'all are going to make me go looking for the dopey smurfs real name. grrrrr....

"RE: Watch watch."
Posted by true on 09-25-08 at 03:44 PM
Ok, it's not Papa Smurf, or Smurfette. The rest of them look the same, as far as I recall, so I guess it's name is generic smurf.

Not true.

Brainy wears glasses.
Handy wears overalls and usually has a hammer.
Hefty has a tattoo.
Lazy carries a pillow.
Grouchy is always sulking.
Jokey will be carrying a present.
Vanity has a flower in his hair.
Painter wears a red cape or smock.

But I believe the Smurf in question here is Clumsy Smurf.

Since you worked in an ER doesn't all your watches have to have a second hand? A good friend is an ER nurse and even with dress watches she looks for one with a second hand (which is hard to find) because she doesn't feel right without it.

I finally replaced a watch that broke several years ago with a new one.

it tells time, by hands and lcd,
it tells day/date by lcd,
it tells altitude,
it tells atm pressure,
it forecasts bad weather (or good).
it's a stop watch,
it tells temperature,
it's a compass
it's an alarm
it changes function by touching the crystal
it can read in metric units or english units
it's titanium
it's 30 meters waterproof
it's Swiss
it fills my gadget craving
it's uber techie friends impressing.

And it's sitting on my dresser, useless at the moment. Because I have become used to not wearing a watch.

I hate not wearing a watch. At work I wear a silver Timex with moving hands, and the rest of the time a Timex digital IronMan watch. My play watch needs to be waterproof, and have both alarm and timer. Oh, and Indiglo is needed too.

At the moment a black Tissot T Touch. It doesn't look like a dress watch, but has a lot of useful functions.

I switch that up with a blue and silver Movado that weighs a metric ton.

Sometimes I wear non-time-keeping bracelets

My watch is Swiss Military and I won it at a jewellery store when I bought my Mom a Mother's Day present about 6 years ago. I love this watch and wear it every day.

I have another watch that I wear once a year to the Christmas Party. It's sparkly and fake.

Usually, I wear my square, black-faced, diamond-inset, silver Movado, because it's the nicest piece of jewelry I own, and still new enough to be exciting. I have other watches, but they're mostly cheap-os from Target.

The last few days, though, I've worn nothing; my wrist is currently sporting three mosquito bites. I must have scratch-access at all times.
